How to make perfect McDonald’s fries at home (with five ingredients instead of 19)

In January, Maccy’s revealed what went into its French fries, with a behind-the-scenes tour of one of its US processing plants. Just the 19 ingredients then.

Now, Popsugar’s food blogger Brandi Milloy has managed to recreate the perfect McDonald’s fries at home, without the need for any added dimethylpolysiloxane (actual silicone found in Silly Putty).

Brandi’s recipe includes only five ingredients but still has that certain je ne sais Mcquoi that makes Maccy’s chips better than Burger King’s (there, we said it).

YES Hillary, just yes. (Picture: Hillaryclinton.com)

Hillary Clinton has just launched her campaign’s official online shop, and let’s just say the ironic tees just upped her 2016 presidential election game.

The apparel plays up the classic ‘H’ logo which is emblazoned across hoodies, tank tops, canvas totes and – a favourite – the ‘Hats off to Hillary’ baseball cap.

But it’s the red ‘Everyday Pantsuit Tee’ that we really want to get our hands on. Because, like the lady says, wearing it means ‘bringing a whole new meaning to casual Friday’.

A YouTube video of model vlogger Ruth Crilly giving a makeup tutorial has been banned for not making it clear it was an ad for Proctor & Gamble products.

The online tutorial was banned after another beauty and style blogger realised that the Beauty Recommended YouTube channel – where vloggers demo makeup products on screen – was owned by Procter & Gamble, and complained the video wasn’t clearly identified as an ad.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled that consumers would not be aware that the film of a model vlogger discussing Max Factor products, and other brands, was an ad rather than an impartial review.

It’s all about the details (Picture: Folk Art Papercuts)

Suzy Taylor is the incredible talent behind Folk Art Papercuts and the detail in her work will blow your mind.

Each piece of art is hand-drawn and then meticulously cut out to order, using just a craft knife and a single sheet of paper.

Her work is inspired by traditional folk art and whimsy nature scenes – think wildlife, florals, sugar skulls – and is all about the accuracy.

‘I love working this way, it’s totally absorbing and I can get lost in it for hours,’ the Hertfordshire based artist says of her designs.

Her work is insanely intricate and just goes to show that putting in the hours gets amazing results.

In 2010, Chris Norton’s life changed for ever.

He was injured in his senior year, at a football game on October 16, 2010. He suffered a spinal injury so severe doctors feared he wouldn’t walk again.

He was given a 3 per cent chance of ever regaining any movement below his neck. He needed help just to breathe.

Yesterday, the 23-year-old from Iowa walked across the stage at graduation to collect his diploma, with the help of his new fiancee Emily (he proposed the day before – it’s been quite a week).

Chris defied the odds every step of the way, inspiring others with his determination and faith that he would overcome his injuries. He undertook over four years of intense, daily therapy sessions.

Last year, he set himself the goal of… Read the full story

Meet Patrick, the robotic butt.

Before you get lost in ALL the butt jokes, Patrick has a very important role. He’s there to teach medical students the right – and wrong – way to perform proctology exams.

According to Mashable, Paddy was created by researchers at University of Florida, Drexel University and the University of Wisconsin, to help students investigate the prostate.

And this is one brainy backside.

The robot has four, er, inbuilt sensors which alert the examiner as to whether they’re applying the correct amount of pressure… Read the full story

Top honours go, as usual, to Oxbridge, with Cambridge in top spot, closely followed by rivals Oxford.

The annual league table, put together by The Guardian, ranks universities according to factors including spending per student, the student/staff ratio, graduate career prospects, what grades students need to get a place there, and how satisfied final-year students are with… Read the full story

That thong th thong thong thong (Picture: Robbie Sherrard / YouTube)

This is YouTuber Robbie Sherrard attempting to describe a woman’s thong. There are NO WORDS.

Except, of course there are, and firstly can we just address his opening line:

‘There they are, women’s underwear. Found them on the sidewalk outside my apartment this morning.’

Mull on that for a second.

‘At first I thought is was a lanyard’. All the LOLz.

He has absolutely no idea what he’s talking about, shockingly, and asks the most ridiculous questions. A few gems include:

‘How do you put them on?’

‘They’re much stronger than I’d think. It’s like a bull whip.’

‘It’s kind of dangerous, in a way. You can definitely see someone getting, like, choked out with one of these.’

These are in fact beautiful murals designed to brighten up buildings left to decay along forgotten city waterfronts.

Hawaii-born artist Sean Yoro – known by the working name Hula – paints pictures of women’s heads and shoulders, often marked with tribal symbols, emerging from the waves, as a way of brightening up the dilapidated concrete buildings.

And he does it all while perched on his surfboard.

When it comes to booze, the general rule is everything in moderation – a little is all good, a lot is a bit of a no, no. But what, exactly, is way too much?

A new report in the journal Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging asked 4,466 elderly people about their alcohol consumption, and took echocardiograms of their hearts to identify changes to structure and function in relation to how much they drank each week.

The results? Unsurprisingly, the more booze consumed the more abnormalities appeared in the heart.

The hearts of men who drank more than two drinks per day, or 14 or more drinks a week, were slightly enlarged and weaker as a… Read the full story

‘Fancy a drink? Sure – it’s not like we can’t afford it’ (Picture: Getty)

We now know our next holiday destination: Budapest, where drinks cost half as much as other European cities.

Culture is great and everything, but sometimes the holiday is really about the booze – and it turns out there’s no beating Budapest for the price of drinks according to new research.

Stag and hen dos take note, the price for 10 tipples including wine, beer, cocktails and champers costs a mere £19.79 in the Hungarian capital – now that’s something we can get on board with.

If fruity delicious drinks with umbrellas are more your thing, Prague is your best bet where an average cocktail costs just £3.38. Seriously, how are people standing in that city?

On December 30 2009, aged 17, she fell asleep at the wheel of her car while driving at around 60mph through the South Australian countryside.

She woke up as the car spun out of control – it flipped over five times, leaving Kellie unconscious and trapped. When she was found, she was rushed to hospital.

She told Buzzfeed: ‘At the time, I thought this was the worst thing that could have happened to me. I was 17, just about to go into my last… Read the full story

As if the Prosecco Crisis wasn’t bad enough, it looks like chocolate shortages are next.

After last week’s earth-shattering, stress-inducing reports of the pending paucity of prosecco, we’re now set to be denied more sugary goodness because of the cocao bean crop *weeps*.

Experts say a strong El Nino is likely to push up the price of staple foods, including chocolate, because of predicted droughts in west Africa where most of the world’s cocao beans are produced.
