Two words: dry January.

Having a birthday during the most miserable month of the year can be pretty tough at times.

The great big Christmas movie quiz (Jon O'Brien)The great big Christmas movie quiz

Most people are detoxing after Christmas or in the first zeal of their new year’s resolutions and don’t want to come out and celebrate with you.

If you’ve ever been smug that you’ve finally outgrown a badly executed fringe or unsuitable bob, look away now.

Because a Russian woman has grown her hair to 42 inches. Yes, really.

Anastasiya Sidorova shows off her natural mane to her 401 followers and it’s a thing of beauty.

Followers can see her cascading glistening red waves in a range of glorious locations.

But it hasn’t always been the case.

According to The Sun, the 23-year old was diagnosed with androgenetic alopecia. This genetic disorder means it can cause permanent hair thinning and balding.

Ah January – it’s the month where, with the weather outside so frightful and your bank account not so delightful after Christmas and New Year, you just want to stay in doors.

To be fair, with the top line up of new shows on Netflix, it would be very tempting.

Stop everything: There is a 90s-themed brunch with bottomless fried chicken and rum cocktails coming to London

But if you’re living in London, or even just visiting, there’s a whole host of new restaurants waiting for you to try – starting from next week (see,… Read the full story

Almost a quarter of Brits only change their bed sheets once a month

How long since these sheets last saw the inside of a washing machine, huh? (Picture: Getty)

I wash my bedsheets once a week because I love the feeling of clean sheets so much.

There’s a very precise routine that has to be done beforehand – I have to be freshly showered from head-to-toe (including hair) and I can’t have been on a night out (alcohol sweats will ruin the clean vibe).

I’m not a clean freak so I kind of assumed everyone was the same – until I saw the results from a recent study and was pretty grossed out by how disgusting some of you lot are.

How a man smells can make women drink more alcohol

It’s probably not the best plan to get drunk on a first date but often, it’s inevitable.

You’re nervous and they’re drinking at double the speed you are – and we all know what that heady cocktail can lead to.

But it turns out that there’s another reason you might unintentionally be getting laggo while out on the town with a man friend.

Researchers from the Department of Psychology at the University of South Florida have been exploring what effect a man’s scent can have on women’s drinking.

They previously found that scents emitted by women during the fertile phase of the menstrual cycle prompted men to drink more booze.

And this time, they used 103 women aged between 21… Read the full story

You might think that with sex icons like Rihanna, Beyonce and Adriana Lima, brunettes finally were having their time in the sun.

But apparently, dudes still prefer blondes.

In fact, they believe women with blonde hair to be ‘significantly’ younger and healthier-looking than those of us with darker dos.

Researchers from Augsburg University, Minnesota, showed 110 men computer-generated images of women with blonde, brown or black hair.

They found that men rated women with lighter hair as being more attractive and having greater relationship potential than those with black hair.

There wasn’t much difference between blondes and brunettes for those measures but when men saw pictures of women from… Read the full story

Not the first topping we’d go for, but sure (Picture: Four Hundred Rabbits/Getty)

Vegans often get the short end of the straw when it comes to pizzas.

My lifeless ‘New Year, same old me’ body was browsing vegan options on Deliveroo yesterday when I saw a place that offered vegan pizza.

Except their vegan option was just an uninspiring cheeseless pizza with hardly any toppings – surely if you’re not offering vegan cheese, customers can figure out that it makes more sense to order any of your other, more exciting options minus the meat and cheese?

However, lucky for us, there are some great vegan pizzerias out… Read the full story

If you haven’t yet started meal prepping or eating more fruit and veg even though you *swore* you’d be healthier this year, you could be in luck.

Because Pret will be revamping their menu this month from 4 January so you can rest assured you’ll be getting your veggies in.

Unsurprisingly, after the opening of its three new veggie stores, there’s been high demand from vegetarian and vegan consumers and they’re certainly well catered to.

Brand new to the menu is the Tip-Top Hot Pot. It’s available in two varieties: the Chicken & Butternut Squash Stew (£6.50) and a vegan Cauli & Sweet Potato Dhal (£6.25).

Wedding photos are, by their very nature, pretty naff.

All those bridesmaids dressed in horrible meringues. All those ushers looking like some kind of bad X Factor reject group.

The more effort you put in, the cheesier the results seem to be.

It’s a tricky balancing act.

But some couples do manage it and end up in the running for Junebug Wedding’s prestigious best wedding photos of the year.

Judged by a panel of industry experts, over 9,000 photos have been raked through to find 2017’s greatest shots.

Christmas might be over, but there’s always next year.

Those without a strong stomach might want to look away now as a performance artist has made a video showing a woman making turkey stuffing…with her mouth.

The five-minute long video shows home chef Eva Godfrey bite and chew through the ingredients which include onions, garlic, egg, bread and butter, and spit into a bowl. She then ‘massages’ the saliva-ridden mixture with her hands and stuffs it into the raw turkey.

‘Interestingly I use the right-hand side of my mouth but you do what feels most natural to you’ she insightfully tells the audience.

The director behind the creative video is Australian filmmaker Nathan Ceddia.

The London and Berlin-based photographer tells Metro.co.uk: ‘The video came about after hearing countless stories of friends and family injuring themselves whilst cooking. The kitchen is meant to be a safe environment where people can comfortably express their creativity.

Deciding what to wear to the airport can be a minefield.

Or do you just get dressed in your comfiest trackies because you’re on an early morning flight and the last thing you care about is how you look?

If you’re in the latter camp, you may be making a giant mistake according to an expert.

Because there are some outfits we should steer well clear of according to former Transportation Security Agent Kimberly Pruitt, who worked at Los Angeles International Airport for five years.

You could say we’re a tad obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

We’ve had Harry Potter-themed Christmas stockings, clothing range and even baby clothes.

And yesterday, we squealed when Primark dropped pendant necklaces inspired by Marauders Map and potion bottles.

But now, it’s not enough to dress like our favourite wizard because now we can smell like one too.

Yep, that’s right.

Primark (of course – who else would it be?) have now added candles to their forever-growing list of Harry Potter inspired gear.

There are five different versions of the candles, each with a different scent and colour to reflect the corresponding house colours.
