There’s nothing better than tucking into a brand new biscuit assortment box.

Her husband from Birmingham, who does not want to be named for fear of embarrassing the pupil who gave the couple the… Read the full story

Get fit or die alone (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

The world of dating apps is a confusing place to be.

Should you talk about food? Swipe right to everyone? Or just go right ahead and ask all your matches if they’re DTF?

And should you slither into girls’ Instagram DMs when you don’t even match? (Hint: no, no you should not.)

It’s tough knowing whether you should be your bad self and get used to a world of rejection, or pretend to be someone else and drown in likes.

According to a new survey, we should all be openly declaring/falsely… Read the full story

How slimming clubs made me fatter than ever and painfully anxious around food
Are slimming clubs doing more harm than good? (Picture: Dave Anderson for Metro.co.uk)

Before my foray into the world of slimming clubs, I was a UK size 16; and when I successfully achieved my goal weight, I was a size 10.

I was finally the sexy, svelte version of myself that I’d always dreamed of and I was certain nothing would ever make me gain weight again – but no one tells you how hard it is to keep the weight off long term.

My nervous breakdown ruined my career… Read the full story

Remember the ‘What’s Your Excuse?’ mum?

The impossibly slim, hot mum with three kids under four who challenged other, fatter mums for not having any excuse to get in shape?

Of course, you do. She went viral back in 2013 after pissing loads of people off who thought she was body shaming women with her ‘unattainable’ body type.

She sort of issued an apology (‘What you interpret is not MY fault. It’s Yours. The first step in owning your life, your body and your destiny is to OWN the thoughts that come out of your own head. I didn’t create them. You created them. So, if you want to continue ‘hating’… Read the full story

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home has already had its first abandoned dog of 2018 – just two days into the new year.

Eight-week-old mongrel pup Ronnie was brought into the centre on 2 January by his owner, who’d sadly become homeless.

Ronnie had been bought online by his owner’s ex-partner, and while the ex-partner had met the dog purported to be Ronnie’s mum, very little was actually known about Ronnie himself.

Which isn’t ideal, really, when you need to know family history of illness etc.

And poor old Ronnie became the first unwanted pet of 2018.

This year I’ve decided to ignore the fat shaming that the food industry starts the second they’ve finished enticing me into buying all of their calorie laden mince pies.

Instead I’ll focus on making 2018 a year for good, and thinking more on the wide world beyond my front door.

When you stroll into a Lush, you expect to be greeted with an overwhelming waft of essential oils and all-natural fragrances. What you probably don’t expect is to stumble upon something on the shelves that could put your life at risk.

But that’s a reality Josh Abbott has had to face when he pops into the bath bomb shop.

Josh, 25, has a severe allergy to nuts and can go into anaphylactic shock simply from coming into contact with nut particles in the air.

He visited Lush on Saturday 16 December when he spotted tubs of face mask products containing almonds open for customers to sample.

A number of Lush products contain… Read the full story

Oh, so you thought weird trends that prey on body insecurities were only for women?

You were wrong.

While us lady types have to deal with people convincing us to get liposuction on our arm vaginas, men are also feeling the pressure, being swayed to try everything from scrotox to anal injections.

The next hot trend targeted squarely at men? Penis whitening. It’s exactly what it sounds like.

More than 100 men each month have been heading to a clinic in Thailand that started offering a penis whitening procedure six months ago. The treatment involves blasting lasers at the… Read the full story

You may have heard of the recent ‘raw water’ trend.

And you also may have believed that all water is raw unless it’s been boiled for tea. But no, raw water actually refers to water that hasn’t been treated or processed in any way.

In what is possibly the most Goop thing to ever happen, water startups are cropping up around America offering people the chance to sup virgin water which has come straight from the source, and has forgone the traditional safety precautions.

Sounds positively bucolic, amirite?

It conjures up images of water nymphs floating over a lake, gently drinking that sweet H2O, just as God intended.

Primark is a pro at recreating high end clobber at low down prices.

Remember the £8 versions of Gucci’s £530 slip-on loafers? Or their take on the £470 Prada mules?

And to kick 2018 off nicely, Primark have just brought out a pair of YSL-inspired bargain boots costing just £22.

You interrogated your friends and spent hours in front of the mirror flipping your ponytail over your forehead to get a pretend fringe.

You googled ‘good’ and ‘bad’ celebrity fringes until your neck involuntarily twitched with secondary peek-a-boo fringe flicking.

Can everyone stop whining about Dry January – it’s only been four bloody days!

January is such a positive, pious month.

A new start, a bare cupboard, a fresh dairy. What’s not to love?

It’s also a time for undoing some of the damage inflicted over Christmas and New Year.

Which is why everyone goes from 0 to 100 and quits the booze altogether.

Suddenly, no one’s drinking.

Trying to arrange a quiet little pub trip becomes impossible as even mentioning the possibility of booze brings your mates out in a teetotal rash.

‘ME? BOOZE?’ they cry, as if they were longtime members of the Band of Hope temperance gang.

‘I am doing Dry January, doncha know? I feel soooooo much better – I’m positively glowing! You should try it! Wow!’

Irn Bru is a drink so synonymous with Scotland it’s often nicknamed Scotland’s other national drink.

But that could all change once in a matter of months – as Irn Bru’s recipe is planned to go through a shake-up.

So why have manufacturers given Irn Bru a (very unwelcome) reboot?

It’s part of a sugar-reduction programme by soft drink brand AG Barr before the government levy on sugary drinks comes into effect in 2018.

Makers of the fizzy favourite will be changing the formula of the product to cut sugar content by almost half.

Unsurprisingly, fans have not taken to the news well – and they’ve started stockpiling cans… Read the full story

They say that millennials look for purpose over paycheck. In the last decade, there have been surges in startups as the generation abandon traditional jobs for more ‘meaningful’, purpose-bound work.

And yet only 30 per cent of women report currently working in their dream jobs, according to a survey by Toluna, who interviewed 1,000 women aged 25 to 35.

Although money and having a stable job is important, the survey showed that the perfect jobs are aligned with passions, in arts, healthcare, academia – but also practical needs.

Nearly 80% of respondents expressed a desire to work from home, while 64% were keen to work for themselves. Interestingly, only… Read the full story

Congrats are in order to a teenager once dubbed ‘Chewbacca’ because of her excessive facial hair – she’s just got married.

The Bangkok resident suffers from the extremely rare Ambras syndrome, otherwise known as werewolf syndrome.

The genetic condition, suffered by only around 50 people worldwide since the Middle Ages, causes thick hair growth on the entire body except the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

Supatra was named the hairiest teenager in the world by Guinness World Records in 2010.

Although she received laser treatment as a child, it failed to work and her… Read the full story

Sweet-toothed vegan Londoners will no doubt have heard of Dough Society, the vegan brioche doughnut purveyors who have been trading at various markets for the past year or so.

A few years ago, you’d have been lucky to get dairy-free milk in most coffee shops, but now veganism has slithered into the mainstream like a slippery plant-based eel, milk alternatives are becoming the norm.
