Feel like the dating game is taking over your life?

Well it probably is, sort of. It’s likely to be taking up around 16.8% of your life, which is quite a bit when you think about it.

A recent study of 5,000 of 18 to 30 year olds found that millennials are spending ten hours a week trawling through dating apps.

Imagine if we spent that same amount of time working out, or learning a new language, or developing a new skill. We’d be glorious versions of ourselves.

But alas, we put our need to be snuggled up next to another person above our own self-improvement.

Badoo found that it’s… Read the full story

For those who are attempting Veganuary this year, you’ll know already how things can quickly get boring when it comes to planning meals.

Most recipes tend to revolve around using tofu as a source of protein – but what if you just can’t stomach it?

It’s not hard to see why – it’s pretty tasteless, seems to disintegrate whenever we try to cook it and just looks like a pile of mush.

Luckily, there are all sorts of… Read the full story

I have lived with health anxiety for two years, and the last month it’s been unbearable.

Every day has been filled with terrifying, intrusive thoughts, picturing myself critically ill. I’ve had reoccurring nightmares, waking up shaking, checking my body to make sure nothing bad has happened to me in the night.

I’ve spent a lot of time checking my body for any signs of illness – fevers, swelling, rashes, discolouration, you name it. I’ve worried about it.

Just recently I opened up about my health anxiety in an episode of ITV Tonight. The episode, ‘Dr Google: Do DIY Diagnoses Work?, was all about how we use Google to diagnose… Read the full story

When it comes to getting married, you might as well dream big.

This day will (probably) only come around once. It’s the one day to celebrate your love and wear a big fancy dress. You might as well refuse to hold back and do whatever your heart desires to get the most incredible day possible.

If that includes standing on a net 400ft above a desert, you go right ahead.

Ryan Jenks and Kimberly Weglin did just that.

The couple fell in love in Moab, Utah, and it’s also where they got engaged – so it only made sense to get married there too.

But rather than saying their vows down in the… Read the full story

When Tabitha Dow was six, she had her first migraine.

Now and again she’d be stuck with headaches, but when she hit 29 they became more regular and more severe. Soon her migraines were debilitating, so she sought out medical support at the National Migraine Centre in London.

There, Tabitha was advised to ask her doctor for the antidepressant Venlafaxine at a maximum dose of 150mg. She was told that this would help not only with her migraines, but also with her persistent low moods.

‘This was the start of my downfall,’ Tabitha tells Metro.co.uk.

‘Neither the neurologist, nor the GP who subsequently prescribed the drug, explained that it was extremely chemically addictive.

‘I was not told how long to take it for, it was prescribed indefinitely, and there was no mention that coming off the drug would likely result in severe withdrawal symptoms and a need to taper off like you would heroin.

‘Neither mentioned that one of the common withdrawal effects of Venlafaxine are… Read the full story

The book The Indian In The Cupboard and the film Toy Story gave us all hope that yes, our toys are in fact alive, and we longed for the day our toy dreams would come true.

That day came for this particular dog when he met a giant living, breathing version of his favourite Pluto toy at Disney World in Florida this month.

Golden Retriever Atlas, a service dog, had the treat arranged for… Read the full story

We all remember massive 00s movies such as Chicago, Harry Potter and Gladiator, but how well do you remember the random obscure releases?

If we hold minorities up as cultural heroes, the only way for them is down

When it comes to blockbusters and cinema that changed various genre conventions the 00s certainly delivered, and we’ve all got our favourites whether it be the Kill Bill series, the Lord of the Rings trilogy or everyone’s favourite green ogre Shrek.

But there were also some good releases that didn’t make such… Read the full story

Are star signs just self-fulling prophecies?

Have you ever met an awful Libra? No. Do any flexible Tauruses exist? Doubtful.

Star signs, at times, seem creepily accurate. It’s almost like you can already tell what sign people are before they even open their mouths.

Are we all born with these innate traits, are they kind of self-fulfilling prophecies…or are they just a load of rot?

As a Scorpio who doesn’t relate to my sign at all (who wants to be known as secretive, jealous and manipulative?), I’ve always worried that eventually, I’ll become some kind of sting-bottomed monster.

‘I believe that our horoscopes reveal a lot about our personalities and most of the time, especially when a chart has been done they typically are very accurate,’ astrologist Carrie Eddins tells Metro.co.uk.

‘As a Scorpio, you are typically level-headed, but still, waters run deep so many people are not fully aware just how sensitive you are or how much you care until you surprise them with the rare outburst of tears or send… Read the full story

As part of the body positivity movement, we’ve fought back against digitally slimmed thighs and erased stretch marks.

Will 2018 be the year we stop covering up any trace of acne?

Instagrammers are being applauded for selfies without a scrap of makeup, and now, finally, people might start listening to those with acne explaining that they’ve tried all the obvious stuff and really don’t need to be given the same old advice all over again.

Maybe acne will be next on the no-Photoshopping list.

One photographer pushing for change is Peter DeVito.

He’s creating a series of portraits with acne entirely on display, to try to normalise acne by showing it in its natural state.

Trans men should be included in questions about cervical cancer – it can affect anyone with a cervix (Picture: Metro.o.uk)

This week marks Cervical Cancer Prevention week, a noble cause aimed at raising awareness of a condition that claims the lives of two people every day.

Surely I mean two women, right?

Well, no. Not entirely.

Anyone who has a cervix can get cervical cancer and there is a whole section of people being left out of this discussion – trans men.

While there is no doubt that the large majority of people losing their lives to this disease are women, trans men account for a portion of those… Read the full story

ASOS is selling some rather questionable jeans that have made it to Twitter in a series of ‘WTF?’ tweets.

The jeans over jeans are everything they sound like – baggy jeans… over another pair of jeans.

The high-waisted mom jeans feature the standard style with a rolled up finish, except they come covered with a pair of three-quarter-length denim shorts.

While the shorts come in a blue denim, the rest of the jeans feature a lighter, faded look.

It takes a tremendous amount of energy and hard work to get into Oxbridge.

But working to get in – and graduate – with ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia is a different ball game together.

Kaiya Stone is a comedian and artist who graduated from Oxford University with a degree in classics, and she has all three conditions, which she uses the term ‘neurodiversity’ to describe.

If you’ve never heard of it, don’t panic – ‘It’s a sort of relatively new term,’ Kaiya tells Metro.co.uk.

With 13 million women going through the menopause at any one time in the UK, you’d think it was something we all fully understood and felt comfortable discussing.

Defined as ‘the exact point in your life when you have stopped having periods for a total of 12 months, which usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55,’ the menopause is something all women will experience in life, yet it still remains one of the last taboo subjects.

Under-discussed and often the butt of jokes, the menopause has a long… Read the full story

Many of us harbour dreams of being surfers, imagining it as a life of salty hair, sunkissed skin and people throwing shakas as you glide effortlessly along the waves.

Until we get in the water and realise that it’s actually snotty noses, swallowing sea water and lots of graceless wipeouts.

If you don’t take to it naturally, you have to really love it to persevere – much like this pig here.

A warning: If you’re currently looking at the tiny, squalid flats available in your limited budget, these images may make you tear up.

Over in Mayfair, an office building has been converted into an incredibly posh apartment building – with rooms overlooking Claridge’s.

Greybrook House has been restored to its original Art Deco design, complete with plenty of marble and gold accents, and has been transformed into three apartments – each worth £12.5million – and one £25million penthouse.

Naturally, all the apartments are unbearably fancy, so we really wouldn’t recommend looking for too long if you’re hating your current living situation.

Slowly filling with resentment towards your job?

Christmas is now a distant memory, you haven’t had a drink in 24 days, and you’re skint – it’s no wonder that you might be feeling a little less than enthused about getting up and going to work.

But if you dread entering the office, that might be a sign of a deeper issue. If feelings of dissatisfaction are due to more than just the cold weather, it might be time to look for a new job.

That presents its own challenges (quitting is awkward, interviews are nightmareish, to name a few), chief among them what kind of work you… Read the full story

There’s nothing more uncomfortable than having sex in your family home – especially when you have annoying little siblings around.

One woman learned the hard way to save it for when the house is empty after her 11-year-old sister made it clear she’d overheard her sister and her boyfriend having sex – and proceeded to fill every room in the house with angry post-it notes.

Twitter user @SalsaWater recently took to Twitter to explain she’d been caught out having sex in her family home by her little sister.

She wrote: ‘My 11 year old sister accidentally heard my bf and i uh… doing the dirty last night and then we went… Read the full story
