Unfortunately, those flats also happen to cost roughly eleventy billion pounds.

The rest of us often have to deal with too-small windows that make even big flats feel claustrophobic.

The good news is that it’s an easy issue to fix, and you don’t need to be rich or skilled to do it.

From adding plants to covering the cupboards, here are 17 simple ways you can instantly brighten your home.

1. Paint it white

White is the most reflective colour of all. There’s also light-reflective paint, which costs more but includes little particles to boost… Read the full story

Weddings are great but they’re mighty expensive.

A day of fun and frolics with your friends and family can leave you bankrupt, so it’s not surprising that there are many people who want to get married but just can’t afford to.

Imagine if you were one of those people, and a couple of kind souls swooped in to pay for your big day?

Well, that’s exactly what happened to 20 people in Brazil, when newlyweds Alex and Priscila Façanha paid for 10 other couples to get married who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford to.

The couple live in  Fortaleza,… Read the full story

Forget about ordering a rum and coke, because soon you’ll be able to order an alcoholic version of a Coca-Cola drink.

We’re not sure if there was generally a huge demand for it but the soft drink company thinks it’s a good time to part from its 125-year tradition of supplying just the carbonated stuff.

It’ll be the first time the brand is experimenting with an adult drink and follows the popularity of Japanese alcopops, (flavoured beverages with low alcohol content).

Known as Chu-Hi, low alcohol drinks are hugely popular in Japan and available in vending machines, which could explain why Coca-Cola is attempting to tap into the… Read the full story

There’s a new fetish in town: cuckolding.

Like an updated version of a threesome – it includes three people, but with a twist. There’s a husband, a wife and the man who has sex with her in front of the husband. Some of the husbands even want to be tied up, ordered around and humiliated as they watch.

Let me explain.

Weird or great? (Picture: Jack Daniels)

A year ago Jack Daniel’s brought us whisky coffee, which no-one asked for, but they did it anyway.

Now, they’ve blessed our lives with whisky-infused cider, which we think you’ll agree, is a curious combo.

While the product quietly launched last year, it’s only just launched into our hearts and minds, and we obviously got some in to try, for #content.

Tennessee Cider is a crisp apple cider blended with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whisky.

In their own words: ‘A crisp cider with a finish of light spice, caramel and a hint of vanilla, this is a one-of-a-kind flavour that stays true to the… Read the full story

A new study has shown that boys are more likely to suffer the worst forms of online sexual abuse than girls.

The huge study found that while girls account for two thirds of the victims, it was boys who were in the very worst online images and videos, often depicting very young children, with severe forms of abuse like sadism.

The findings were based on an analysis of a database of over one million abuse images and videos from around the world, collected by Interpol.

International Women’s Day falls on March 8 every year, and every year it makes a whole load of people ask, ‘so when’s International Men’s Day then?’

Some people genuinely just want to know, others are trying to prove some bizarre point about sexism, but don’t worry, the answer is simple.

International Men’s Day falls every year on November 19 and has been around since 1992 (although not in the UK until 2008).

There’s a lot of debate about why there aren’t enough women in the food industry – but in fact, Indian women have been actively involved for decades.

One of London’s first modern Indian restaurants, Chutney Mary, was set up in 1990 by two sisters, Namita and Camellia Panjabi – and became the talk of the town. They went on to open other highly acclaimed restaurants; and were the original spice girls.

In 2002, Wangu was car-jacked and sexually assaulted.

Not only was she raped and robbed, but the police failed to take her report seriously.

Rather than allowing the experience define her, however, Wangu has gone on to found her own foundation, with the help of ActionAid, to offer other survivors of sexual violence support.

Thanks to the Wangu Kanja Foundation and ActionAid, they now have access to medical, psychological and legal support which is accessible via a free SMS service across Kenya.

All they have to do is text HELP to 21094 to be put in touch with volunteers and community members who can help. Once the crime has been reported to the police, the foundation pushes for a court date and accompanies the survivor and their family to court on the day.

Violence against women and girls is a fundamental human rights violation.

Social media can be an absolute gem of a place at times.

While we all know the dangers of it, it can be helpful to your mental health, it can give you all the LOLs, start political movements and be a catalyst for change.

It doesn’t always get a good rep, but there really are some things that are amplified and far-reaching only by virtue of being online.

Twitter has certainly been at the forefront of many important discussions, one of which includes the ever-relevant #MeToo, a hashtag which was used 4.7million times by victims of abuse since the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault scandal.

#Yotambien became the Chinese equivalent… Read the full story

Happy International Women’s Day – the one day of the year that we exclusively celebrate the awesomeness of women.

Like every high day and holiday, however, IWD has become a beacon for dubious marketing ploys and PRs.

Nothing says encourages folk to buy stuff they don’t need quite as much as huge conglomerates acting all woke.

Take McDonald’s, for example.

The fast-food giant is going around flipping its giant golden arches, from an ‘M’ to a ‘W’, as a ‘celebration of women everywhere’.

And people don’t really know what to make of the move.

Let’s just say that not everyone is completely behind the newly feminist burger chain

Why is female health being put at risk? (Picture: Getty)

When I was a poor, unemployed graduate desperately trying to scrape together enough money to stay afloat in London, I thought doing medical trials was the answer.

Except, as a female, it wasn’t. The majority of trials I looked at doing didn’t want females – they all wanted males.

At the time, I didn’t think anything of it – I was just annoyed that it was a missed opportunity to make money. Now? I’m mad. Why are men always the subjects?

Beauty bloggers have done a lot for us.

They’ve taught us how to contour, how to use lipliners, how to create the most amazing Halloween masks.

But when it comes to eyebrows, they’ve just been allowed to run riot.

Ponytail brows, fishtail brows, negative space brows – anything you could do to a spare of brows, they’ve done them.

And now, one makeup artist has come up with the ‘Halo Brow’.

Hannah Lyne is a 16-year-old MUA from Huddersfield who says that she was talking about the fishtail brow trend with a mate when they came up with this idea.
