Paris is the top place to visit this year, according to TripAdvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice awards.

And surprisingly (or not?), right behind the French capital is our very own – London takes second place.

The league table, based on analysis of TripAdvisor reviews written by members of the public ranks one of the most popular islands – Bali – in fourth place.

Though we might want to swap the current dreary weather in London for some Balinese sun, the travel site reminds people why you might to visit the capital.

It also cites the British Museum, Winston Churchill’s war rooms and St James’s Park as must-see attractions.

A girl who was told she was ‘paralysed from the skull down’ is defying doctors by getting out of her wheelchair to run, rock climb, dance and swim.

9-year-old Seattle Lennox, from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, lost her ability to walk after suffering a spinal cord injury called Transverse Myelitis (TM) after suffering a cold at 15 months old.

The paralysis was caused by an inflammation of both sides of a section of the spinal cord that can develop at any time and interrupts messages sent to the rest of the body.

Doctors didn’t think she would survive the attack, which rarely occurs in young children, and believed the… Read the full story

Dating can be scary.

Baring your soul to a stranger in the hopes that they’ll find all your quirks and neuroses deeply sexually appealing? That’s enough to shake anyone’s nerves.

But if you’re baring yourself emotionally, you might as well go the whole hog and bare yourself physically, too… right?

If you’re both naked you’re on an even playing field in the potential embarrassment stakes, it’s easier to assess physical attraction, and you’ve immediately got something in common, even if it is the discomfort of your naked genitals on a barstool.

Turning up naked to a Tinder date is considered pretty poor form, however. That’s why you need a dating… Read the full story

Finding peace and wellness in Hong Kong, a densely-packed, busy city of 7.3 million, is no easy feat.

But that’s what I set out to accomplish. As a native to this beautiful and hectic city, I was resolved to find ways to restore balance and sanity to my lifestyle.

While scrolling through Facebook, IRIS: Your Escape – Hong Kong’s Health & Wellness Festival, caught my attention.

I was sold.

A two-day event from March 3 to March 4, costing HKD 200 for one day (£20) and HKD 250 (£25) for both days, the event took place by the water in Nursery Park, West Kowloon Culutral District.

I was blown away by… Read the full story

Breakfast is undoubtedly the best meal of the day.

Bacon, hash browns, beans, bagels; those tantalisingly salty flavours are what get you up in the morning and set you up for hours ahead.

Who wouldn’t want to make the memory of that heavenly dish last as long as possible?

Well, now you can smell like a semi-continental breakfast, because a bagel company has just launched a savoury hair-care set.

Einstein Bros. Bagels is celebrating a new sandwich release by offering a limited-edition shampoo conditioner set, inspired by classic bagel fillings – cheese and bacon.

Losing one’s virginity is a major milestone in most women’s lives.

Personally I’d like to think that the term ‘losing’ is a bit outdated – after all, it’s not something you can drop down the back of the sofa along with the crumbs from lunch.

Fenty completely changed the game when it dropped 40 shades of foundation.

Suddenly, proper diversity became something to be aspired to and other brands started following suit.

But it’s not just racial diversity that Fenty’s committed to.

Rihanna’s brand is also not here for gender exclusivity.

Makeup has been part of men’s grooming for centuries – it’s only really in very modern times that it’s been taboo. But the very vast majority of male celebrities wear foundation, concealers etc – it’s just that they don’t openly talk about it.

That was until Daniel Kaluuya wore Fenty Profiltr Foundation to the Oscars a few weeks ago.

Balenciaga has managed to make the world’s ugliest trainers into a status symbol.

What they started, Yeeze and Louis Vuitton have copied.

Unless you’ve got a pair of platformed dad pumps on, you’re no one.

And unless you’ve got a spare £600 lying around, chances are you’ll remain a no one for some time to come.

Or at least that was the case until Topshop decided to democratise ugly trainers, once and for all.

The high street giant has just launched their own version of the designer trainers – and for a smidgen of Balenciaga’s price.

The chunky pair, named the Ciara Chunky Trainers, are being sold for just £38.

Being a parent is tough, if you didn’t know.

Caring for a tiny human is hard in itself. Add in a lack of sleep and the stress of all the other stuff you have to take care of and it makes sense to have a meltdown.

That’s especially true if you feel like you’re doing it all on your own, like Celeste Erlack.

Celeste is a mum of two sharing her experience of motherhood online.

Last week she shared a desperate plea to her husband for more help with the baby – and people related, hard.

‘Dear Husband,’ wrote Celeste. ‘I. Need. More. Help.

‘Last night was hard for you. I asked you to watch… Read the full story

What are HD brows?
Before and after a HD Brows treatment (Picture: HD Brows/Instagram)

Eyes are the window to your soul so it makes sense to have good window frames, y’know?

This is why so many of us are obsessed with our eyebrows – having perfectly shaped brows can really change your look and make you look more ‘done’ without even trying.

After many of us butchered our own brows at home for years, we finally realised that we should probably leave it to the experts.

These days, there are so many options – waxing, threading, tinting, and even microblading (semi-permanent tattooing).

Another option we’ve heard discussed a lot is ‘HD Brows’ but what on… Read the full story

For heterosexuals, gay sex might be something of an enigma.

There may be many who have no clue as to how gay men actually have sex and the quirks that come with it.

What is a bro job? And why are they so popular?

Gay people in general are much more well-versed in heterosexual sexual practices due to the educational and cultural bias toward straight people in this area.

It’s worth noting that I am speaking from the perspective of a gay man, not the entire LGBTQ community, and I aim… Read the full story

Harry and Meghan’s wedding cake is a sweet nod to her past as the couple revealed London-Based Californian baker Claire Ptak will have the honour of making it.

Meghan had interviewed the baker for her lifestyle website The Tig where she revealed the projects she was involved in, before she’d met Harry.

Just like the couple, the cake – lemon and elderflower – is unlike royal wedding tradition, or any wedding cake for that matter, as they tend to be fruit cakes.

So if, like us, you weren’t invited to the wedding but still fancy getting a taste of the royal wedding then we’ve got a six layer cake, adorned with… Read the full story

It’s up to you to define what constitutes losing your virginity (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Growing up we receive so many problematic messages about sex that it’s no wonder we still consider it such a taboo.

Although I consider myself a very sex-positive person now, it took years to unlearn most of what mainstream society taught me about doing the deed.

Not all women masturbate, and that’s fine: 6 women tell us why they don’t

There’s a lot to be learned about the nuanced experience of sex and I full-heartedly believe that we can never stop learning.

Online, everyone seems to have a thigh gap.

We’re not talking about ultra-emaciated models either. It’s fitness types who seem to be able to stick a fist between their thighs without encountering any skin, fat or adductor muscle.

There you are, frantically working out and eating healthily and if anything, your inner thighs seem to be expanding, not reducing.

And that’s because, friends, it’s impossible to suddenly get a healthy thigh gap – as one trainer is trying to prove.

Madalin Giorgetta is an Australian PT and she’s been trying to educate her followers about body composition.

She says there are only three ways to get a thigh gap without starving yourself into oblivion:… Read the full story

What does Brexit mean for love?

It’s not something most of us are thinking about – we’re much too busy worrying about passports and economic implications.

But when Britain severs its ties with the European Union, it’s likely to have an effect on relationships, not only thanks to Brexit-themed arguments with your other half, but because thousands of people face the possibility of losing the right to work in the UK, meaning they’ll need to leave the country they share with their partner.

To explore the impact of looming Brexit on romantic relationships, Laura Pannack has worked on a photo series, called Separation.
