For when Barbie’s career goals just aren’t doing the trick, empowerment-wise.

Inspired by the Sonia Singh’s Tree Change Dolls – Bratz given makeunders with new wardrobes and some careful hand painting – Wendy Tsao has dedicated her creative powers to making children’s dolls a bit more inspiring.

Following Sonia’s lead, Wendy takes Bratz dolls, gets rids of their hypersexualised clothing, paints over their makeup, and transforms them into real life inspirational women.

Her Mighty Dolls turn the pre-owned dolls into figured of empowerment, based on Malala Yousafzai, JK Rowling, and Jane Goodall.

We all heard it growing up: if a boy is mean to you, he’s not just being horrible. It means he secretly likes you.

But looking back, that logic is actually pretty damaging. As one mum pointed out this week, when her daughter was told ‘I bet he likes you’ when she was hit by a boy.

Merritt Smith had to take her four-year-old daughter to the hospital after she was hit by a boy at school. While they checked in, a man… Read the full story

When the classic dick pic becomes an art form.

Things My Dick Does is a magical place on the internet where one man shares the adventures of his penis, affectionately named Little Dude (or LD for short).

It’s really that simple. As the name would suggest, it’s all the things one San Francisco based man’s penis does in a day.

Or, as he puts it: ‘I’ve always wondered what my dick does in the times he is up before I am.

He must get so bored waiting for me to wake up. Happens EVERY day. Poor little guy :\’

His little friend gets up to all kinds of fun. Like baking cakes.

Complete (Picture: Getty)

With the rising cost of having a family and less social pressure to expand your brood, the days when having 2.4 children was the norm are far behind us – and only children are far more common than they used to be.

As a mother of an only child, who has absolutely no intention of having another – I fully embrace the modern concept of a mini-family, however, there are certain things that only parents of single children will understand.

1. ‘When are you have a second’

Is the question you are likely to hear sixty-two times a week until your only child reaches the age of six.

The answer is …

We’re not sure why she’s on the floor, but that’s a lovely bit of knitwear (Picture: Getty)

The nights are drawing in, street lamps are sparkling on wet pavements and you are in your pyjamas by eight o’clock.

Doctor Who is back on the telly and, as the cold wind bites, you are enviously remembering Tom Baker’s stripy neck wear.

You can only knit in a straight line and have a dim memory of being taught to purl when you were a kid, but that doesn’t matter, you need a project to fill up the long winter evenings in front of Netflix.

Also you popped into Accessorize on the way home from work today and they were charging almost 30 quid for a plain knit you’re sure you could… Read the full story

But little do we realise that life outside of the classroom isn’t all it is cracked up to be – yep, this growing up thing is a lot less exciting and liberating than it seems.

There is a reason people look back on their schooldays more fondly as they grow older. Even though school can be a place of sheer misery and banality, it’s not always as bad as it might seem.

Robert Houser has been taking portrait photos for 20 years, but his photo-series of women facing chemotherapy was like nothing he’d ever done before.

The series began years ago when Houser photographed a young woman for a magazine story.

Halfway through the shoot she told him that she was about to lose her hair due to chemotherapy treatment.

Looking for something he could give to her during her experience with chemo, Houser offered to photograph her but the woman declined.

It’s one way of getting your students’ attention.

Dutch biology teacher Debby Heerkens, who teaches at the Groene Hart Rijnwoude school, has discovered a pretty memorable way of helping her ninth graders learn about the human body.

In a recent lesson, she got up on a desk at the front of the classroom and stripped off…to reveal an anatomically-correct spandex suit, showing where all the organs of the body are found.

Hilariously, the books still use original artwork – meet the original hipster (Picture: Amazon)

Ladybird books have gone a bit dark.

The most stressful thing that used to happen in Ladybird books when we were younger was Pat the dog losing his sh*t when Peter and Jane gave him his yearly bath.

But now the sunny, nostalgic world of our childhoods has had an adult makeover. Yes, Peter and Jane have grown up and they’ve got a drinking problem.

Eight new Ladybird books for grown-ups will be released next month as part of Ladybird Books’ centenary celebrations, and they cover topics from hangovers to hipsters.

If you’re a fan of terrifying glass-bottom bridges, you’re in luck. Because China is currently building what will be the world’s longest and tallest glass suspension bridge.

They have high hopes for it.

The bridge, currently under construction, is 300 metres (984 ft) high and 430 metres long, and is suspended across Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon in Hunan’s picturesque Zhangjiajie National Park.

That means it will be virtually as high as The Shard (which stands at 309 metres tall).

The bridge itself will be six metres wide and each glass panel underfoot will be just five centimetres thick.

‘It will be the world’s tallest and longest suspension glass-bottomed bridge,’ says project manager Guo Kun. He… Read the full story

Being a parent is lots of fun! There is laughter, joy, and playing with cool toys.

However, there are some aspects of having children that are just plain boring.

Here are a few things I have to do now that I am a mum that make me want to poke myself in the eye with a Pritt Stick.

Baby groups

Don’t get me wrong, the ones where you drink coffee and try to ignore your kid for as long as possible, are great. But the groups where you pay a lot to do Stuff are just plain dull.

I entertain my child all day – I need to NOT do stuff for a while, so thank… Read the full story

So you’re in a relationship and you think you’re ready to move in together.

It’s your first home, you’re still young and not quite sure what to expect.

One thing not to expect is for it to be anything like your parents’ house. Freedom is great, but responsibility kicks in, and that’s where it gets hard.

Here’s 18 things you should know before moving in with your partner in your 20s.

1. Although most 20 somethings are known to have pretty active sex lives, expect it to decrease quite a bit.

When you’re living with someone, you tell yourself you have all the time in the world to have sex. In reality, you’ll just want to catch up on the latest episode of Dexter. You’ll get round to it. Eventually. When you’ve watched every episode of every season. Twice.
