Running can help your mental health – and a running group can keep you motivated (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

The strange thing about running is that unlike Nike I never actually want to ‘just do it’, even though I know it is one of the main things that keeps me mentally fit.

My levels of procrastination before I run can be legendary.

Male mental health: I lost my dad to suicide at 17, and then experienced depression myself

When I finally make it out the door I am already telling myself that I will turn around… Read the full story

When you’re getting a tattoo, it’s important that you manage to convey your ideas properly to the artist.

After all, it’s your body – you’ve got to like that tattoo potentially for the rest of your life.

But what happens if you’re absolutely rubbish at art?

In that case, you might want to pop along to see the CEO of Sadistik Ink.

Because he managed to turn what was essentially a kid’s doodle into a magnificent tatt design.

Sierra Alexis had a vision in her head of what she wanted her tattoo to look like but struggled to put it on paper. She scribbled what she could and took it along to the tattoo… Read the full story

Hello, is it my mouth you’re looking for? (Picture: yokaiexpress/Instagram)

An American man was so frustrated at not being able to get ramen in the middle of the night that he developed his own ramen vending machine.

Ramen vending machines are commonplace in Asia but sadly not elsewhere in the world, although US engineer Andy Lin is hoping to change that.

He spent three years working on four prototypes before he settled on the final version of Yo-Kai Express, a vending machine that dispenses hot bowls of ramen.

The first machine was installed at Metreon, a retail and cinema complex in San Francisco.

So, how does it work?

According to Tasting Table,… Read the full story

Watersports: it can include a myriad of activities (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Contrary to popular belief, ‘watersports’ isn’t just about the art of peeing on someone.

I say ‘art’ because I’m a girl and, therefore, cannot aim.

In fact, the term ‘watersports’ can mean a myriad of activities from the humble golden shower to various ways of imbibing one’s own – or other people’s – pee for pleasure.

As we’ve covered before, watersports isn’t weird.

It’s all good, clean, healthy fun (although, beware of playing if you have an infection in the area).

However, it’s taboo nature did make it a popular choice for clients who came to see me as a… Read the full story

Preparing for a marathon is a hard slog that often involves a drinking ban.

But not, of course, if you’re planning to run a wine marathon.

Run Bacchus is a celebration of running and wine which will see participants running or/and walking a marathon, half marathon or five-mile course through a wine estate.

It’s basically the British version of the Marathon du Medoc, a French event where runners get to sample glasses of English wine at various stages of the race course.

There’ll be 12 wine and food stations all along the 26.2-mile course, and six for the half marathon. Yep, that’s 12 small glasses of wine per runner (if you’re still running… Read the full story

Illo request: Feminism needs to cater to Muslim women, not the other way around
(Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Feminism needs to include: women of colour, Muslim women, disabled women, sex workers, trans women, gay women, queer women, fat women, skinny women.

It needs to cater to all women.

The fact that the term ‘intersectional feminism’ exists proves that the general movement is often exclusive and largely white.

Mainstream, western feminism isn’t always intersectional. There are feminists who often don’t realise or can’t relate to the fact that for women of colour, of different faiths, abilities, it’s not just gender that they’re discriminated on.

A pet cat went missing for months…only to be finally found 160 miles away.

Sky, the pedigree Persian Blue, is now back home in Leicestershire after she was found wandering about homeless on the streets in Marske in Teesside.

A woman took her in for three weeks before posting a message on social media asking if anyone wanted her.

Volunteers from the Cat and Kitten Rescue group in Teesside saw the posts then claimed Sky in a bid to return her to her rightful owner.

They checked to see whether Sky was microchipped – and luckily she was.

Why are Geordies called Geordies? The reason behind the North East nickname

Geordie is the term given to people from the greatest city on earth, Newcastle upon Tyne

We all know people from Newcastle are called Geordies, but where did the name come from and who can claim to truly be a Geordie?

Apart from speaking in a distinctive accent, is it someone born around the banks of the River Tyne or the North East in general?

As a native, I was always told from a youngin that the term derived from the time of the Jacobite rebellion back in the eighteenth century.

Masturbating is amazing – it’s free, hurts nobody, and takes five minutes

Plus at the end you get to literally orgasm.

I wore this male chastity device for a fortnight so you don’t have to

But alas, it is by no means a tidy affair.

Indeed, it gets pretty ropey fast.

And since the dawn of civilisation – when primitive man completed that first historic tug in the dim recesses of his cave – the burning question of how to dispose of excess seed has never satisfactorily… Read the full story

Is it worth the extra effort? (Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

Conditioner is a pretty important part of most people’s hair care routine – but is it a necessary step?

If you were to ditch it, would you be left with dry, dull hair or would you not even notice a difference?

At least there would be a bit more room on your bathroom shelf and a bit more cash in your pocket.

Hair expert Laura Haystaff, director of The Topiary, has the answers and it seems conditioner is not just a ploy by hair companies to make us spend more.

Mark was cycling from his home in Wedges Mills, Staffordshire, to his job as a senior engineer 20 miles away when he was hit from behind by a car…and was then struck by a second vehicle who ran over his head.

He was saved only by his helmet and rucksack which was stuffed with work clothes;… Read the full story

An elderly priest who was left homeless after splitting from his male model husband says the pair are about to rekindle their romance again.

Retired Sandwich priest Philip Clements, 79, wed Florin Marin, 24, at a low key ceremony in Ramsgate, Kent, to make a stance against Church of England rules that bar clergymen from same-sex marriage.

The pair split just five months into their marriage, which left Philip penniless after he sold his £214,000 Eastry home to buy his younger lover a flat in his native Romania.

Despite the rocky start, the pair has decided to give things another go, with Philip saying he will write… Read the full story

Venus Williams, seven-time grand slam winner, has said that she doesn’t identify with the term ‘feminist’.

She’s said that she ‘doesn’t like labels’, but that women today have more opportunities and power than ever before – and that she’s grateful for that translating into the sporting world.

‘We truly don’t know how powerful we are. There’s nothing like a powerful woman walking into a room; her presence is like nothing else,’ she tells Elle.

‘There are so many emerging forces; there’s been so much growth for women in sports. It’s very exciting.’

She says that when it comes to equality and women’s rights, that was a conversation that she’s never been party to.
