23-year-old Jade Delaney painted her clothes, shoes and skin gold and mimicked the pose of the New York statue.

She stood for hours outside the offices of McCann Bristol, the UK counterpart to the advertising agency behind the sculpture.

Jade transformed herself into Fearless Girl to try to kick start her career and ask for a work placement – and it was totally worth it, as bosses were so impressed they gave her a chance. She will now spend a month there in the hopes of getting… Read the full story

An adorable badger cub has been rescued after he was found at the side of a busy road.

He is currently being cared for by the Scottish SPCA, who are looking after the seven-week-old who was spotted by a member of the public, abandoned at the side of the road in Dunbar, East Lothian, last month.

The black and white badger has been named Crumb, after the baking and biscuit name theme at the centre for badgers this year.

Centre Manager Colin Seddon said: ‘Crumb is currently being cared for by April Sorley, one of our animal care assistants who also cares for the other small animals at the centre, and… Read the full story

Dogs eat poo for a reason, say scientists

Dogs sometimes eat poo.

Dogs aren’t the most sophisticated eaters as we’ve all noticed when they scavenge the bins.

But they’re not just doing it to pass the time, there is actually method in the yucky madness.

From bird poo to poo from horses, rabbits, cattle, sheep, deer, and of course cats, dogs may also have a penchant for their own waste.

We might call it disgusting but scientists call it coprophagy, which literally translates to faeces eating.

Not all dogs do it of course, and ironically some are fastidious in avoiding the nasty stuff which is an evolutionary precaution to avoid spreading disease.

But dogs only seem to eat ‘fresh’ poo, i.e within two days… Read the full story

There are certain things that are just wrong.

You can’t quite explain why, but they leave you unsettled, on edge, and feeling a little nauseous.

Like a loaf of bread sliced lengthways, patterns on tiles that don’t match up, or the handle of your fork touching your food.

*Shudder*.

One such thing is this nail art, created by Russian nail artist Nail Sunny.

Nail Sunny has previously created pole-dancing nails, nails depicting Kim Kardashian twerking, and nails with 2017’s biggest headlines – so it’s safe to say they’re no strangers to out-there nail decoration.

But this particular set is more disturbing than quirky –… Read the full story

If you haven’t bitten into a Cronut yet, you’re missing out.

Not just in terms of the deliciousness of sugar, dough, jelly, and cream, but also on getting to call yourself a proper foodie.

The Cronut (that’s a croissant and doughnut mash-up, in case you didn’t know) is the baked goods hybrid that inspired everything from the duffin to the crone. It’s a big deal.

And as of today, it’s officially five years old.

Yep, five years ago today, 12 May, Dominique Ansel sold the first ever Cronut. Soon people were queuing up to taste the treat, which later made its way to Tokyo and London.

How having my large intestine removed in emergency surgery triggered my OCD

I had my first intrusive thought when I was around nine years old.

A voice in my head told me that if I didn’t touch the end of the bed a certain number of times, something bad would happen. It made me feel anxious, so I did it. The anxiety lessened.

Ever since, I have had to play out these sorts of rituals. But they’ve always been minor; nothing too destructive.

But after I underwent emergency surgery to remove my large bowel following a nasty bout of ulcerative colitis, a form of inflammatory bowel disease, everything changed.

I was admitted following symptoms including extreme stomach cramps, rectal bleeding, and… Read the full story

Why are kids female TV characters so crap?
Really though? (Picture: BBC, Nickelodeon, Dreamworks)

Last week I was in the supermarket with my three-year-old son and we bought a new lunchbox to take to pre-school. He loves Paw Patrol so that was the obvious choice.

However, it wasn’t until we got home that we realised that Skye wasn’t on it. They’ve used the five male pup characters and left out the only female one.

Hopefully we’re at a point where people know the basics of the female orgasm.

Penetration isn’t everything, foreplay is essential, and clitoral stimulation is more likely to do the trick than plain old penis in vagina action.

But even with the basics, orgasms can still be elusive… which is when we reach for any weird tip or trick we can get our hands on.*

*We’d recommend going back to basics, throwing in more build up, and exploring what feels good before relying on the weird tips and tricks, mind you. Sex toys might help, too.

So naturally we’re intrigued by new research that suggests blowing your nose might be a… Read the full story

Getting better series: A year of antidepressants
(Picture: Ella Byworth for Metro.co.uk)

This week I had my very first sunburn.

This is a little embarrassing to admit, because I’ve always been one of those ‘I don’t burn’ people, and I’m always preaching about the importance of sun protection.

When I laid out in the sun and had a snooze, I felt safe in the knowledge that I’d just go a bit brown.

Then I woke up red, sore, and swollen.

Why? Because I’m taking an antidepressant, fluoxetine, for my depression, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts.

It turns out that certain antidepressants can increase your sensitivity to sun, making you more likely to burn… something most people prescribed… Read the full story

The death of a child seems to be so much more poignant, yet the truth is that this form of bereavement is so difficult for us to talk about that many avoid it completely, often tiptoeing around families who could actually benefit from talking openly on the subject.

What you need to know about fantasies of being raped/nonconsent

You know when your friend gets back together with their horrible ex, and you find yourself asking: ‘Why would she do that?’

That’s how I feel about the way we treat horrible men.

Yesterday, spurred on my the news that Chris Brown is being sued by a woman who alleges she was raped in his home, I tweeted about my hate for him. In case anyone had forgotten, this is the same Chris Brown who plead guilty to beating his then girlfriend, Rihanna, until she bled and even tried to bite a chunk out of her ear.
