Severe headaches are one of the less well known side effects (Picture: Getty)

Today marks the beginning of Coeliac Awareness Week, which is incredibly important in changing people’s perception of the disease.

While most people may now understand what coeliac disease is (an autoimmune disease caused by a reaction to gluten), diagnosis levels are still low.

In fact, Coeliac UK estimates that one in every 100 of us suffer from the disease, yet only 24 per cent of those are actually diagnosed, and it takes an average of 13 years to get the diagnosis.

Part of this can be due to the fact its symptoms are so poorly understood.

You might have heard it can cause… Read the full story

Ah, the classic bullying type of boss (Picture: Getty)

It is a well-known fact that the type of boss you work for can influence just how long you stay in a workplace.

Your boss in theory is supposed to be someone that you learn from, a successful figure that helps you progress in your career, offers you guidance and above all has your back.

But this isn’t always the case, and with characters such as the boss who doesn’t have a clue what is happening on a daily basis, to the boss who thinks it’s acceptable to call you during annual leave it can be quite challenging to get through the day.

At times, the online running community can seem a little overwhelming.

Everyone’s busy posting their personal bests and race kit layouts…and there you are, struggling to make it around parkrun in 30 minutes.

But it turns out that you’re probably best off following suit and using your social media as a running diary – because doing so can improve your performance.

According to a new study of 2,500 runners, those who post online are more likely to run a 5K faster than those who don’t post, and they’re also more likely to run a marathon.

Why? Because social media provides runners with motivation and accountability, and with over 31 million Instagram posts tagged… Read the full story

77% of us are stressed about money, but hardly any of us are talking about it.

That’s why this week we’re going to be chatting about the relationship between stress and money – to open up the conversation, get rid of our fear and awkwardness around money, and hopefully share some advice to get us all feeling more comfortable with both our finances and mental health.

Why now? Because it’s Mental Health Awareness Week – a week dedicated to talking about all things mental health. The theme this year is stress.

Stress is a side of mental health that will affect most of us at some point in our lives, and it can trigger a whole host of other issues.

But just like money, it’s something we’re not great at talking about.

So to mark the week, Metro.co.uk’s mental health podcast, Mentally Yours, will be focusing the next five days on stress and money.

Our first episode features Mark Rowland,… Read the full story

For the classier of you who’ve never head of a club 18-30, it sort of does what it says on the tin. It’s an organised holiday full of people between the ages of 18 and 30. Unsurprisingly they were responsible for a whole lot of hook-ups.

Club 18-30 holidays were basically partying until the wee hours, then sleeping off your hangover in the sun. You would (according to those… Read the full story

We know that social media can have a detrimental effect on our mental health.

Social media anxiety is real.

But it’s not just stressing us out emotionally; continually being hooked up to Instagram and Twitter is also stopping us from enjoying events in real life.

If you’ve ever tried your hand at darning clothing, you might’ve stuck a needle through a thin layer of skin on your hand by mistake.

But one artist, David Cata, has been consciously sewing his hand and make a whole series of artworks based on it.

And it actually pretty creative.

The hand-stitched designs (get it?) have been created by penetrating a thin layer of skin with dark threads and making shapes out of them like buildings, plants, and even piano keys.
