These look so real and make me feel like a real person too (Picture: Jessica Lindsay)

Although eyebrows are just little face slugs designed to keep dust out of your eyes, for me they’ve always been a point of contention.

With naturally dark hair on the rest of my head and body but inexplicably light and sparse eyebrows, it was a very weird look.

As Delevingne and co. swept in with bushy brows and made them all the rage, my 90s-style mismatched ones were even less easy on the eye. And I became obsessed with making them better.

Most body image issues are pretty stupid to other people.

The contraceptive pill has been revolutionary in so many ways.

It’s allowed us to enjoy sex without the threat of having an unwanted baby. It’s given us the tools to actually shape our menstrual cycles and delay it if necessary. And for some, it’s also been helpful in managing symptoms of PMS.

But for those of us who play sports or are engaged in fitness, it may have played a part in keeping us injury-free.

Yep, our oral birth control is rumoured to be something of an injury prevention device. And as what goes up must come down, that means that when you stop taking the pill, you might leave yourself open to a greater risk of injury.

Sounds bonkers, right?

Claire, from 38 Degrees North, tells Metro.co.uk that our menstrual cycle plays a major role when it comes to our fitness, recovery and potential for injury.

‘In the middle of our cycle (ovulation) estrogen spikes dramatically – it’s been shown that it… Read the full story

In case you don’t know, strawberry legs (a colloquial term) are dark bumps you get on your legs that may look similar to the seeds on the skin of a strawberry.

Sisters share a lot of things, even if a million arguments ensue as a result.

Her sister has a son called Benjamin and as the family lovingly call him Benji, she asked if it was okay to call her yet-to-be-born son Benjamin.

A lot of users thought she was being a bit of a copycat.

The expectant mum wrote on the blog: ‘Benjamin was going to be our name for a boy’.

Is no beauty treatment safe?

First we were warned of the risks of getting eyelash extensions. Then we discovered how wrong things can go if you don’t correctly remove your mascara before bed. Microblading might seem like a miracle eyebrow fix, but even that can have disastrous results.

Now it’s those trendy fish pedicures that are shrouded in horror.

When you’re travelling alone, there’s a good chance of being asked to swap seats so that couples can sit together.

While it can be annoying, you never know if that might be your Sliding Doors moment – as one couple’s tale of aeroplane love shows.

Rosey Blair was travelling home with her boyfriend last night when they asked to switch seats with a woman so that they could sit together.

To ease her pain, they made a joke that maybe her new seat partner would be the love of her life.

So spare a thought for Pierre, who had to deal with this heat while lugging around 5lb of matted dreadlocks.

Pierre the poodle mix was brought into The Humane Society of North Texas in a truck along with more than 20 other animals – cats, dogs, a snake, a turtle, and sugar gliders. The woman surrendered the animals, having driven for five hours in the heat with them in the truck.

Pierre was one of the worst in shape, covered in such severe matting that he could barely move.

Heterosexual women are more attracted to men who display ‘benevolent sexism’ traits, a new study claims.

Benevolent sexism (BS) is sexism which views women in a stereotypical way – so things like thinking of women as being the homemakers and mothers, and as being gentle and nurturing (rather than say, leaders of industry).

The study, published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin by Pelin Gul from Iowa State University and Tom Kupfer from the University of Kent, asked 200 female students to read profiles of men which displayed signs of BS or non-BS attitudes, before rating… Read the full story

The football fan, in the mind’s eye of the general public, especially in the UK, has changed quite a bit over the last few decades.

Before the UK was known for its hooligans, who travelled the world to kick the sh*t out of anyone they could get their hands on after four pints too many.

Now, although still considered a boisterous crowd, as watching any England world cup game will attest to, UK footy fans are more likely to travel the world buying expensive local retro shirts after four pints too many than throw some chairs around.

And the purest manifestation of this new breed… Read the full story

Calling men by their surnames adds to gender inequality, study claims

Shakespeare. Darwin. Einstein…Messi.

There are plenty of famous guys out there to whom we only really refer by their last names.

Now have a think about how many women we treat the same.

Outside of politics, we very rarely talk about women using their surnames only – and a study suggests that that discrepancy might be exacerbating gender inequality.

A team of psychologists at Cornell University has found that professional men who are referred to by their surname are generally regarded as being more famous and important than professional women.

And professional women are more often referred to by both their first and last names.

‘This sort of judgment could result in more recognition,… Read the full story
