They know everything (Picture: Getty)

When your child turns four-years-old it is an emotional time. Almost overnight your tiny toddler seems all grown up!

Here are a few things you’ll recognise if you’ve got a four-year-old too:

1. They do not need your help.

At the ripe old age of four, kids can do everything by themselves (apparently). And god help you, if you dare to try and help them. Instead, you must stand by and watch their painstakingly slow attempts at doing up of buttons/tying shoes/making a sandwich.

2. Night crying becomes night shouting

The only time they are happy to accept your help is in the middle of the night. While my daughter rarely cries at night these days, I am often rudely awoken by… Read the full story

For when headbands hurt your head, you really can’t be bothered with hair dye, and barrettes are passé.

According to the fashion side of the internet, hair tattoos are the latest trend we should all be trying. Not the ones where you get a design shaved into your head. Or tattooed-on hair for anyone who’s balding.

These hair tattoos are temporary metallic designs for your hair, and they’re totally gorgeous.

Kylie Jenner’s a fan, so you know this trend’s legit.

Makeup on commute

Waiting to do your makeup until your morning commute seems like a great idea. You get an extra half an hour in bed, and there’s less rushing around in the morning.

Sounds like a perfect way to redeem an extra half an hour of Netflix the night before, doesn’t it?

Until you instantly regret every decision you’ve ever made when you leave the train looking like a clown ready for a kids’ party.

Here’s 17 of the worst things about doing your makeup on your morning commute.

1. There is literally no room to put anything anywhere

2. And even when you do find a place for it, it’s knocked over every time the train moves off

For the last two years, Sydney-based artist Michael Pederson has been travelling round city streets leaving funny signs for people to find.

From tongue-in-cheek public signs to silly street art, his works are made to put a smile on people’s faces.

‘I think we travel through urban space without really seeing it most of the time,’ Michael told CityLab. ‘I like the idea of interfering with the overly familiar background blur … Ideally with something a passerby might see out of the corner of an eye.’

The WORST. (Picture: Getty)

Tights are the worst for a bunch of reasons.

Their lack of warmth, for one thing. The way they cruelly cut off circulation to your stomach. The need to do an awkward shake as you pull them up for the seventh time that day.

And, of course, the constant ladders, ruining your day and making you look like a scruffy mess. Damnit.

But apparently THERE IS A CURE for the curse of ladders (the ones in tights, not the helpful portable stairs kind). Praise the fashion gods.

According to PureWow, the answer is hiding in our freezer. All you have to do is freeze. your. tights. Madness.

The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has declared this week to be Staffie Awareness Week, in an effort to encourage people to change their opinion of Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

Thousands of Staffies are abandoned each year in Britain, and they can be difficult to rehome as many people think of them as an aggressive breed.

Mike Flynn, Chief Superintendent of the Scottish SPCA, says: ‘Staffie Awareness Week is our opportunity to highlight that staffies are actually friendly, affectionate and loyal.

‘Many people who visit our centres looking to rehome a dog tell us they have already discounted the breed. But when they meet a staffie their opinions often change once they have been showered with kisses and affection…

Little girl

In the interests of a problem shared is a problem halved, a traumatised dad has shared a story about the time he took his 3-year-old to the loo and she publicly dissed his manhood.

In a Reddit post entitled ‘TIFU (today I f***ed up) by taking my 3-year old daughter into the men’s room,’ he describes how he took his little girl into the men’s room of a family-friendly restaurant, so she could pee.

He then used the loo after her.

But, at the same time as he heard the door to the bathroom open and two men walk in, his daughter exclaimed loudly: ‘Daddy!! Look at your little penis!!’

Cue much laughter from outside the stall and dad’s terrified soul-searching: ”WHAT IS HER FRAME OF REFERENCE!!??’

There are basically four new options on the menu (although one of them can come as a wrap or pita, so really it’s five, but you know…).

Before you ask – no, that mild headache you have is not a migraine. You will KNOW if you’re having a migraine, trust us.

Here are some other things you’ll know if you suffer from migraines.

1. Migraines don’t care about your social life

You will get one right before a night out that you’ve been excited about for weeks.

2. Migraines also don’t care where you are when they strike

I’ve had them in McDonald’s, New Look, the bus, the Tube, and, on one particularly galling occasion, while performing with my school choir at the Royal Albert Hall. Cheers, migraines.

No, I don’t drink coffee. Yes, I am surviving just fine thanks.

Are you sick of saying ‘I’m sorry but drinking coffee just isn’t my cup of tea’?

Does explaining that you don’t drink coffee just ‘grind’ you up?

It’s OK though, here are 15 things you’ll know if you don’t like coffee:

1. How easy it is to actually wake up in the morning without caffeine

An alarm clock does the job all on its own.

2. And how ‘a cuppa’ doesn’t constitute to a proper breakfast

Not when there are things like pancakes and bacon.

3. All coffee menus just look confusing

So many options!

And what’s with the stupid names for different sizes – what’s wrong with just saying small or large?

There were three in the bed and the little one said…

Not much actually, just a few gurgles, squeals and the odd raspberry.

However, despite the lack of linguistics, the little one certainly calls the shots when it comes to co-sleeping.

Here are 15 things you’ll relate to if you’re a co-sleeper.

1. Sleeping through? Erm, maybe…

Is your baby sleeping through yet? Honestly? Sometimes you’re just not sure.

You have a vague recollection of little one stirring but maybe you dreamt it.

2. Mind the gap

The space between the cot and bed is often found stuffed with a variety of materials.

This practical measure is combined with a prayer the cot will not move, leaving a cavernous gap for your precious one to disappear into.
