Meeting your partner’s parents is a bit like paying taxes – because we all have to do it at some point.

When you first start seeing someone you foolishly think that the scariest part of the whole process is them finding out that your snoring resembles a muffled fog horn, or that you leave the toilet seat up all the time.

Nope, all of that is the easy part, the scariest part in fact is having to meet the parents for the first time.

1. What to wear?

First impressions count, and before they hear you, they’ll see you – so dressing to impress is key. But then you’re conflicted with finding the perfect balance. Too formal and it looks like you’re there for a job… Read the full story

Everyone loves the baby (Picture: Getty)

When we announced that we were expecting a third baby people either told us we were bananas or brave, while their faces tried to hide a look of horror.

Those who’d already made the leap told us that the change from two to three kids is the hardest of all.

We love being a family of five but it’s not always easy.

Here are 20 things you’ll understand too if you’ve got three children.

1. Going on holiday with your parents seems really appealing for the first time since you were a kid.

2. One bowl of snacks on the table? You’d better be fast, kids.

3. Everyone talks at the same time. All the time.

4. The baby has seen Star Wars.

You don’t catch dogs doing this (Picture: Getty)

There’s a longstanding debate in our country over the nation’s favourite pet.

For some god forsaken reason, dogs often come out trumps – bagging TV time as often as they grace the Royal front porch.

Well, feline lovers are fighting back.

We’re here to set the record straight, with 13 reasons why cats are better than dogs.

1. You’re allowed some downtime

If you constantly pet, talk to and keep your cat company, they will probably think you’re totally insane.

2. Training is part of the package

Cats already know how to sit, kneel and beg. They just won’t lower themselves to such measures.

3. Long walks are not required

Try putting your cat on a leash. Go on,… Read the full story

While the idea might be comforting, we’re not convinced about the name.

Japanese singletons no longer have to eat their curry alone, thanks to novelty store Village Vanguard’s ‘Delusion Curry’, which comes with a DVD of a model who’ll pretend to be their girlfriend while they eat.

According to Rocket News 24, curry is the dish most Japanese men would like their partner to make for them.

So, sparing a thought for all the single guys out there, Village Vanguard, who stock a surprisingly vast arrange of instant curries, recently started selling its curry + fake girlfriend meal deal, starring model Mao Harada.

There’s a choice of three options on the DVD: 1. The younger girlfriend; 2. The older girl who lives next door… Read the full story

The government wants women to feel comfortable breastfeeding anywhere (Picture: Rex)

Whether a woman should breastfeed in public or not has been the topic of heated debate recently.

Last year, Lou Burns was asked to cover herself up, as she breastfed in Claridge’s, sparking a protest outside the hotel.

Now the government is weighing in by encouraging women to feed their children in public without shame.

Despite it being illegal to ask a breastfeeding woman to leave a public place, Public Health England found that more than a third of mothers still feel too embarrassed to do it.

Over a half of those surveyed said they would take steps to hide breastfeeding, by using a blanket for example.

Exactly 4.4% of girls under the age of 20 fall pregnant each year in England and Wales.

It’s a small number – and it has fallen from 6.8% in 1990 – but it’s still pretty scary.

The age where your mind is still racing, wondering what career path you want to take, how you’re going to get there, whether university is the right option, studying for your A Levels and so on.

The list is pretty much endless.

But what about the young people who aren’t wanting to do these things or aren’t able to? What about young people who have had to mature faster than others?

What about the young people who are now parents?

With all the responsibility that overwhelms you once you reach adulthood, how is it possible to carry out the responsibility for another?

We spoke to three new young parents who tell Metro.co.uk what life is like since starting their new found journeys of parenthood.

Sex pros (Picture: Burger/Phanie/Rex Shutterstock)

You’re not afraid to leave the light on

The older you get, the more you realise that we all have our insecurities, but by the time you’ve got naked with another person they are way too distracted by the fact that you are naked to worry about what that nakedness actually looks like.

Because you are with them, and you are NAKED.

Sexy doesn’t have to be obvious

Some of us will always prefer to be at least partially clothed in the bedroom, but as you get older you figure out what actually suits you.

Gone are those flouncy, red acrylic babydolls – draping a silky gown over nothing at all is way sexier… Read the full story

JR might be regretting the singlet now (Picture: @jrhennessy/Twitter)

After ruthlessly mocking his beach-ready Twitter profile picture for months, J.R. Hennessy’s friends took their trolling to the next level.

All 17 of the Sydney-based writer’s mates turned up at their Halloween party on the weekend dressed as his Twitter avatar.

Not only did they manage to buy up 17 matching grey singlets and baggy board shorts, but they’ve really captured that laid-back beachy vibe.

Spot the odd one out.

The internet is, of course, loving it.

JR not so much. He tweeted on Saturday night: ‘Everyone at this Halloween party is dressed as my Twitter pic this is a nightmare.’

The pictures were promptly shared… Read the full story

In 1963, at the start of the academic year, Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson gave children at a primary school in America an IQ test.

The test identified the potential academic whizz-kids.

The teachers were then told which kids had scored in the top 20%.

But they were also told that they couldn’t tell the kids they had done well or treat them any differently because of it.

The teachers would also be watched to make sure they did as they were told.

This classic is a-changing (Picture: Instagram)

Everyone knows, you don’t mess with perfection.

But, after 90 years, Cadbury are giving their classic Fruit & Nut bar a makeover.

It’s a bold move after a change to the Creme Egg recipe – using a cheaper version of chocolate for the shell – sparked widespread fury on social media earlier this year.

But, Cadbury insist we won’t notice the difference.

Sultanas are being added to the bars for the first time, alongside the traditional almonds and raisins. The older recipe bars will be phased out over the next few months as new stock arrives in shops.

Well, at least they know it will be hard-wearing. And, we’re guessing, fairly easy to clean.

Californian couple Carlee Leifkes and Lucas Unger are not a traditional couple and they don’t plan to have the traditional big wedding.

So, when Lucas proposed to Carlee on Halloween, he was never going to give her your run-of-the-mill diamond. He gave her his wisdom tooth instead.

‘So incredibly excited to marry my best friend, the man who knows that his wisdom tooth means more to me than a diamond,’ Carlee wrote on Facebook yesterday, underneath a picture of her totally unique engagement ring.

She adds: ‘We have never been the “traditional couple”, why the heck start now?’Read the full story

Nando's

The UK’s favourite first date locations have been revealed. And Nando’s has come out on top.

Yes, that was the sound of romance keeling over and dying.

Mobile dating app Clover analysed data from 500,000 UK users to see where people were going on first dates, with a cheeky Nando’s winning by a landslide.

Well, if it’s good enough for Niall Horan.

Whisper

There was some disagreement between the sexes. Women prefer to meet in a coffee shop, while men prefer to have their first dates in a restaurant.

And, judging by the number of locations found in the capital, we’re guessing there are a LOT of single Londoners on Clover. Or everyone’s just obsessed with Love Actually.
