Your grandma will be proud.

With Remembrance day coming up this weekend, many people will be looking to show their respect for members of the military who have died in the line of duty.

But forget wearing a poppy on your coat, this year you could remember our fallen soldiers by wearing a poppy on your panties.*

The ‘Lest we forget classic thong’ is the work of Cafe Press – the people who brought us these incredibly inappropriate and utterly vile baby clothes with sexual slogans – and is without a doubt the least appropriate Remembrance day merchandise we’ve ever seen.

It’s not always easy being a parent (Picture: Metro/Getty)

No one thinks that being a parent is going to be easy, but then again you didn’t realise exactly how hard it would be.

And it’s not just lack of sleep, having a kid fundamentally changes your life.

Of course, you love them and wouldn’t have it any other way, but that doesn’t necessarily make it easy coming to terms with who you are now.

From a loss of identity to learning to let their kids go, parents on Whisper have shared the challenges they weren’t expecting when they became a parent.

1. Loss of identity. I still know who I am but most people… Read the full story

real women through 100 years

By now, we’ve seen every ‘*insert beauty/fashion trend* over the last 100 years’ video around.

Men’s hair. Fancy underwear. Halloween costumes. And while those Cut videos are pretty addictive, one woman wants to point out that they’re not exactly true to life.

Karolina Zebrowska has created her own version of women’s beauty over the last century, with an important twist.

She says: ‘They all have seemed to show beauty standards in a very stereotypical and pop-culture way, so I wanted to do a more historically accurate one.

‘As I was doing some research, I became more and more aware that beautiful faces and fashion we see on the photos, ads and… Read the full story

Bill Palmer

95-year-old Bill is becoming a bit of a regular on the Alex Dyke BBC Radio Solent morning show.

Last month, Bill Palmer from Southampton, who listens to the show every day, called in to a discussion about finding love later in life because, he said, he felt ‘so alone’.

Bill had married his wife Sheila on June 2 last year at the age of 95. But, shortly after the wedding, Sheila had a fall and was taken into hospital. She now lives in a nursing home.

She has dementia and colitis, so doesn’t always remember Bill, even though he visits every day.

When asked if he felt lonely, Bill replied ‘I feel so alone’. So, the presenter sent a cab round and got Bill on the show.

Now this is our kind of scientific research.

New Zealand-born food photographer and culinary explorer Henry Hargreaves has finally proven what we’ve all suspected for some time; packets of crisps are basically a whole lot of air.*

In a video titled ‘Waste of Space’, Henry sets out to find the truth Henry using some science involving a jug of water, a vacuum packer, a marker pen and some really complicated maths.

And you probably won’t be surprised to hear that the results ain’t too pretty.

What British emoji would you want? (Credit: Liberty Antonia Sadler)

Finland has become the first country to bring out national emoji. And we’re jealous.

It’s not that we want their phone or sauna emoji. We are just wondering why Britain hasn’t got any to express our national pride.

So we’ve taken things into our hands and made our own. Here’s to hoping Unicode will take notice.

Let us know what emoji you would also want.

Apparently no woman is straight (Picture: Netflix)

You might think you’re straight. But, according to a new study, you’re probably still turned on by women.

Researchers at the University of Essex showed 345 women videos of both naked men and women and checked out what made them all hot and bothered.

They used eye-tracking devices and other physiological measures to suss out how aroused the women were getting.

Most of the people who identified as straight weren’t just into the men, but were strongly turned on by naked women too.

Lesbians, however, were only really sexually… Read the full story

Seriously though, can she live? (Picture: Twitter/noraborealis)

Most women who have been out in public have experienced random dudes telling them to smile.

Whether it’s the incredibly condescending ‘smile, gorgeous’ or the absolutely infuriating ‘cheer up, darling, it’s not all bad’, it happens all the time, and it’s genuinely ridiculous that it’s still a thing.

But it is. And worse, now one woman is receiving rape threats for refusing to give in and flash a smile.

Writer Nora McInerny Purmort’s husband passed away from brain cancer this year, so maybe she isn’t quite in the ‘running down the street grinning’ mood. But obviously, random men on the street don’t stop… Read the full story

Toys

Mental illnesses often don’t come with physical symptoms, so they can be hard for people understand and talk about.

Which is why British artist Toby Allen decided draw them as cartoon monsters, complete with evil superpowers.

‘I want to make people aware of how damaging these illnesses are and how much of a burden they can be to those who suffer from them,’ he explained of his Real Monsters project.

And now, these real monsters like depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder have been turned into cuddly toys.

22 things only people who are crap with money know

I'm on a budget

Very few of us are geniuses when it comes to money.

Sure, we get the core principles. Spend on essentials, save for the future, live within your means, and give yourself the occassional reasonably-priced treat.

But knowing things is very different from doing things. And while we may be money experts in our mind, we can’t quite seem to put our skills into action.

You’re not alone. Other crap-with-money people are here for you. And here are 22 things we all know to be true.

1. Your food cupboards are strangely bare of any canned goods

You never seem to have enough money for a big monthly shop.

2. But oddly enough, your fridge is filled with fancy yoghurts and desserts. Weird.

Mini shops every time you realise you don’t have anything for dinner are the way forward.

Why yes, I WILL treat myself to some mini chocolate tarts for dessert.

Out of their headphones comes the recognisable sound of the Michael Buble Christmas album and you know it’s happened. You know you are in the presence of someone that has turned prematurely ‘Christmas Crazy’.

Even if they are discreet with their music choices, here are some other signs that you need to keep an eye out for:

1. They have a Starbucks red cup attached to their hand pretty much permanently. They are basically 80% PSL by mid November.

Instagram Photo

2. Their Instagram feeds become filled with pictures of socked feet and hot chocolates and scarf wrapped selfies. The world needs to know that they are prepping. #christmasisnearlyhere.

3. They are already wearing a bobble hat. Even though it’s the warmest November since the dawn of time.

4. If they haven’t already written them, they have almost certainly already bought their Christmas cards.

5. They keep posting ‘Elf’ based memes on Facebook. And even if they… Read the full story

What is going on with the mannequins at Forever 21?

There’s definitely something happening after hours on the shop floor because these dolls just can’t stop dancing.

From the Stanky Leg to the sl*t drop, these ladies have got ALL the moves. Or, maybe they’ve just got really bad wind. It’s hard to tell.

Either way, they just can’t keep still.

And, quite honestly, it’s freaking everyone out.

Because what are they even selling?

Is she hot or cold? There’s just no way of knowing.

Tiny hedgehogs are adorable. Baking is fun. Why not put the two together?

Not literally. Please don’t actually bake any hedgehogs. That’s a horrible thing to do. But giving some hedgehogs a cosy baking tray to sleep in is a great idea.

Because they fit perfectly and look adorable. And that’s how internet magic is made.

Just try to pretend these tiny sleeping hedgehog muffins aren’t the cutest thing you’ve seen today. Just try it.

It’s the tiny noses that get us.

The lesson here? All tiny animals should nap in baking trays. It’s brilliant.

Good news guys, an alcoholic sweet shop is about to open in London, and we just can’t wait.

The Eat Your Booze sweet shop is the work of Smith & Sinclair, a tasty collaboration between ex-chef Emile Bernard and ex-PR girl Melanie Goldsmith.

Smith and Sinclair already have their boozy pastilles stocked in the likes of Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, but Emile and Melanie were desperate to open their own grown up sweet shop, and now after a successful crowdfunder campaign that dream has become a reality.

So what sweet ‘n’ boozy treats can we expect? Well…

Cholos trying vegan food

‘Looks like marijuana to me’

So, yeah, this is pretty odd… and yet totally genius.

Latino-American website WeAreMitu have created a video in which cholos (basically Mexican-American gangsters) try vegan food for the first time.

Because why the hell not, eh.

The four guys in question are given two different vegan delicacies to try – kale chips and kombucha (a kind of fermented tea) – and the results are pretty hilarious.

The meat-free treats are a new experience for all of them, so understandably they try to make sense of them by comparing them to things they are familiar with…

The answer you’ve been waiting for (Credit: Getty)

As long as some of the population is single and some are married, the debate will always go on: Is it better to be married or single?

While you could argue either side forever, there actually have been scientific studies into it.

You may have seen, for instance, that sadly for singles, you’re less likely to be overweight if you’re married.

So now we’re going to get to the bottom of it.

Using purely science, is it better to be married or single?

Let’s see which side wins out.

Tinder’s CEO has just given hope to lovelorn singletons everywhere, because apparently the dating app is not all about the hook-up.

We know, we were dubious too.

Anecdotal evidence all points to the contrary: horrendous first-dates, skeezy people and really, how many people do you know with a happy-ever-after Tinder story?

But, at the Web Summit conference in Dublin, CEO Sean Rad said: ‘We just conducted a survey of over 300,000 of our users.

‘What we found was over 80 per cent of people on Tinder are there to find a long-term relationship.’

In an ideal world there would be no transphobia, no religious intolerance and no hateful speech from fascists who have to blame others for the lack of meaning in their small-minded world.

No, in an ideal world it would be all peaches and cream, baby.

But that’s not the world we live in and censoring people from airing their bullsh*t opinions isn’t going to make it so.

As The Economist highlights, in the promotion of tolerance at universities across the country, student unions have become increasingly intolerant of… Read the full story
