Cheers! (Getty)

The girls’ night out begins when we’re teenagers but, as we grow older, live further apart and value our liver and bank accounts a bit more, they become few and far between.

We like to think that we have changed and that now we are older and more sophisticated, maybe a glass of wine and some gossip will be the only thing that takes place.

Or we know deep down once the music plays the following will take place.

1. Selfies

Not just one photo to commemorate a night out, that’s just preposterous.

There are opportunities for selfies when you are getting ready, when one of your favourite songs come one, toilet selfies, when somebody suggests shots and when you’ve hit the dance floor.

Oh, and what about… Read the full story

Being engaged is lovely, however after the engagement parties and the excitement wears off, you do start to realise there are going to be certain questions you are going to be asked a lot.

Sometimes it is like you don’t or didn’t have a life before you were engaged.

In fact all the questions make applying for Don’t Tell The Bride an appealing option – then you won’t need to answer the same thing over and over.

1. Babies next?

If you don’t have children this comment is fairly common and is usually asked at the very start of the engagement process when you don’t even have a register or venue… Read the full story

*Sigh* (Picture: Getty)

You love sleep, but sadly that feeling isn’t exactly mutual.

You feel nothing but a deep sense of jealousy towards those lucky people who can fall asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow.

Because for you it’s a completely different story.

In fact, it’s probably easier for you to embark on a solo mission to the moon than it is to get an easy sleep.

Oils, apps and tablets – you’ve tried them all, but sadly insomnia still manages to wreak havoc on your life.

1. You’re always tired

It doesn’t make the slightest different if it’s Monday morning or Sunday afternoon because you’re constantly yawning away.

Complete with under-eye bags, and usually a bad temper. Great.

2. Sleep = privilege

For most folks a privilege is something… Read the full story

Last week, Nashville actress Clare Bowen debuted her new short hairdo on Facebook. But, this wasn’t a fashion choice.

Clare, who plays singer Scarlett O’Connor on the show, explained that she was inspired to cut off her waist-long locks by a little girl who thought she couldn’t be a princess with long hair.

‘I wanted her, and others like her to know that’s not what makes a princess, or a warrior, or a superhero. It’s not what makes you beautiful either. It’s your insides that count…’ Clare wrote.

Clare knows from experience. She lost her hair after a childhood… Read the full story

We should all try to be kind to others – but what about ourselves?

If you think this sounds selfish then look at it like this – if you’re happier, more refreshed and less stressed then you’ll be kinder to those around you.

This isn’t about daily meditation, becoming vegan or visiting the gym – I’m rubbish at all of these things, drink too much coffee and never go to bed early.

If you’re like me then these ideas might help you be kind to yourself.

1. Drink more water

It’s easier than you think to get the recommended daily 2 litres (1.6l for women) as experts now say that fruit juice and hot drinks count.

2. Behave like a kid

Look familiar? (Picture: neontommy.com)

Does bedtime mean putting down your iPad and getting under the duvet so you can scroll through Twitter on your phone?

Well, according to one London doctor, using your phone before bed could be disrupting your sleep by up to an hour each night.

Professor Paul Gringras from Evelina Children’s Hospital in London is now calling for smartphones and tablets to come with a ‘bedtime mode’ to help protect our sleep.

The expert told BBC News that the new ‘sleep’ setting (separate from sleep mode, which automatically puts phones on silent at night) should filter out the wavelengths of light which disrupt the production of melatonin – the chemical the body needs to help you nod off.

If you’ve been diagnosed with IBS you’ll know that people love to offer all sorts of friendly advice and comments.

Some of it may even be helpful (if you’re lucky), but most of it makes us cringe. Here are 10 things that you should never, ever, say to an IBS sufferer…

1. That’s caused by stress, what are you so stressed about?

It’s a teeny bit more complicated than that, sunshine. There are a range of theories about what causes IBS, but you won’t find an IBS expert anywhere who thinks that stress is the only factor. (And I’m stressed about my broken bowel, by the way. Thanks for asking.)

2. There’s always something wrong with your stomach

Yes. That’s right. There is. Here are some… Read the full story

Earlier this month, after taking a picture of his wife having a nap with their son, husband Bobby penned a touching tribute to her on Facebook.

‘This is my wife taking a nap. In an hour she will wake up, put on her scrubs and get ready for work,’ he wrote.

He goes on to give a small insight into the toll the job takes on Rayena.

Welcome to Summerland (Picture: Seedrs)

Winter in London can be long and hard.

It can leave you desperate for a little warm sunshine on your face. But, that means a flight to somewhere exotic like the Caribbean. And no one’s got the spare cash for that.

That’s why Deborah Armstrong, the woman behind Glastonbury’s Shangri-La zone and designer of ‘addictive experiences’ has come up with Summerland: a summer festival that takes place in the bleak mid-winter.

Or, as they put it, ‘a warm balmy tropical paradise you can visit in a day and still be home in time for tea.’

If crowdfunding proves successful, the festival hopes to launch in London on December 12 next year, running until January 8, 2017.

She’s gone from total Fifties starlet – think smokey eyed Elizabeth Taylor meets blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe – to the smiling, more natural look of 2015.

Tumblr user tenaflyviper has charted the many faces of Barbie over the last half century.

With the photos of Barbie from each of the last 56 years all lined up, you see an amazing evolution of pop culture and beauty trends.

And the fact that she didn’t smile til 1976.

Sadly, doctors can’t prescribe coffee (Picture: Getty/Metro)

When we heard that ministers are considering if GPs should be banned from prescribing homeopathy treatments on the NHS, our curiosity was piqued.

We had to know what else made the so-called NHS ‘blacklist‘, which outlines the treatments doctors cannot prescribe on the NHS.

As you’d expect there’s some standard unproven cold remedies and vitamins, but then things get really weird.

Turns out doctors have to be told not to prescribe things like cologne, macaroon cookies and wine.

If you’re a meat lover and you can give up fried chicken, you can basically battle a dinosaur to the death.

Congratulations – you’ve finally done it. You’ve renounced the meat deities and officially joined the church of vegetarianism. We salute you.

You’ll be subjected to suspicion, indiscreet eye-rolling and, over the next few months, you might even lose a few carnivorous friends along the way.

Giving up meat can be really, really difficult for some of us. We may love chickens more when they’re alive but we still can’t help feeling light-headed when we walk past a rotisserie.

It’s like quitting smoking, booze or Tinder – ultimately you know it’s the right thing to do but it’s going to be a painful process.

Are you headed up the aisle? (Picture: Rex)

Researchers reckon they know how long your relationship will last, based on what type of couple you are.

A new study conducted by Brian Ogolsky of the University of Illinois identified four types of relationship pattern.

Whichever pattern you fall into will, according to researchers, determine whether you make it down the aisle or not.

Ogolsky studied over 370 unmarried couples in their mid-20s over the course of nine months. He identified these four relationship types:

1. Dramatic

The breakup

Making up 34 per cent of those surveyed, dramatic couples experience lots of ups and downs in their relationship and don’t tend to spend too much time together.
