Enjoying one last drive (Picture: Reddit/ewhippieyoustink2)

This picture of an elderly dog enjoying one last car ride has been tugging at the people’s heartstrings.

The photo captioned ‘an old dog’s last ride’ was recently posted on Reddit by owner Nicole Alderman, who was feeling sentimental about her beloved pet, who died this time last year.

It shows 15-year-old Libra from Florida, eyes closed and looking totally content as she leans out of the window – she died a few days later.

‘She was about 15 years old and I’ve had her since I was a kid,’ Nicole explains, before adding: ‘She started getting very sick.

‘Libra was ready to go, so we… Read the full story

Anders has saved up thousands of dollars from collecting pennies (Picture: cnycentral.com)

Pennies seem like the most rubbish form of currency – even ‘penny’ sweets cost at least two pence these days.

And Ireland, after testing the idea, have rolled out plans to get rid of one and two cent pieces altogether.

It shows most of us couldn’t care less when we lose them in the cracks of pavements and down the side of sofas.

But really we should all be as thrifty as Otha Anders, who proved that every penny actually does count when he cashed in his collection of pennies he’d saved over the last 45 years.

Do you spend £240,000 on a pokey studio flat with no outside space in London, or do you buy a luxury houseboat with a jacuzzi on the terrace?

Hmm, tough one.

Introducing the world’s most luxurious houseboat, which comes with an open plan kitchen/diner, an ensuite with your king-sized bedroom and a roof terrace.

Oh, plus access to the open seas.

The floating home, called Overblue, was designed by Italian boat manufacturer Raffaele Grotti and currently comes in two models: a 44ft standard boat and a more luxurious 54ft version – with plans for a deluxe 64ft boat in the future.

Looks fun? (Picture: Getty)

Getting married is as popular today as it has ever been and the wedding industry is booming, with people determined to make their big day as spectacular as possible.

Whilst I recognise that committing to a person until ‘death do you part’ is an honourable way of demonstrating your love – I can’t help but feel that marriage, as an institution, is a little over-rated.

Thinking of tying the knot and can’t wait to be taken up the aisle? Here’s 14 reason why marriage is over-rated.

1. The deposit on a house

Also known as what it will cost you to get hitched. With the average wedding costing a whopping £22,000, you want to hope it lasts – and that that cake tastes damn… Read the full story

If there’s one place in the world where you can think deeply about your life, question the world and discover your well-hidden talents, it’s the shower.

Some of the thoughts that occur in your mind while you give yourself a shampoo mohawk can be pretty odd… but let’s be honest, we all have them.

Here’s 27 thoughts every girl has had in the shower, at some point or other.

1. Is is just me or do I sound like Beyonce in here? The acoustics are so good.

2. Do I need to wash my hair today? Well, isn’t it true that if you leave it long enough it starts to wash itself? Sounds a lot cheaper and easier.

3. Do I need to shave my legs? Hmm… who am I seeing today? And is it cold enough to wear jeans?

4. Brilliant, I missed a patch. Oh and my ankle’s bleeding too. Fabulous.

As the famous saying goes, ‘dogs have owners, cats have staff’.

While dogs have an obvious appeal – showering their owners with unconditional love and slobber – cats can be an acquired taste.

Cats can be judgmental, grumpy, distant and sometimes just plain abusive (what cat owner hasn’t been scratched to shreds at some point?)

And yet we’d move heaven and earth to keep them happy.

We’ve put together a test to see if your cat really has complete control over you.

14 things you won’t believe I saw at Sexpo this weekend

This weekend I attend the Sexpo exhibition at London Olympia – an event which markets itself as the sexual health and lifestyle exhibition and didn’t fail to deliver in both its variety of exhibitors and products.

Being an open-minded kind of gal, I was looking forward to expanding my sexual awareness horizons (oh hell, OK, to load up on discount vibrators) and I wasn’t disappointed.

Not only was it interesting to see the latest sex toys on offer (research purposes only, natch)  but proved itself to be a great opportunity to meet some of the people involved in the ‘sexual lifestyle’ industry and scene – from adult ‘pups’ to porn queen MILFS.

14 things you’ll never believe I saw at Sexpo this weekend. NSFW – obvs.

1. A pulsating latex vagina

Also known as a ‘twerking butt’ – it looks real, it feels real – and is *not* something you want to leave on your coffee table (while your mum’s round, at least.)

Lovely weather for it.

Two Yorkshiremen proved that nothing will stop them enjoying a relaxing pint at the weekend. Not even swelling flood water.

Despite the River Aire bursting its banks following heavy rainfall this weekend, the beer garden at the Kirkstall Bridge Inn, in Leeds, was very much open for business.

To prove it, John Kelly and Steve Hoult, who run the pub, popped outside for a relaxing pint. Or three.

The rainwater was only ankle-deep when they sat down but slowly started to creep up to waist-level.

But, as these men know,… Read the full story

We’ll admit it. We’ve wanted freckles ever since that one cool girl showed up after the summer holidays with a fresh tan and perfectly speckled skin.

And now, finally, we can fulfill our freckle-faced dream.

A new company called Freck Yourself has launched a Kickstarter to fund their new project: the first temporary freckle tattoos.

They last two days, and are super easy to apply, using sticky stencils, and a formula you apply on top with a rollerball.

Step 1: Arrange your stencils

Sure, your cat may spend about 18 hours of each day snoozing on top of your TV/lap/face, while you work hard and stay up late to pay for their treat habit.

But that doesn’t mean he or she doesn’t need to unwind and blow off steam, too.

Enter meowijuana: premium weed for your cat.

Except it’s not actual marijuana, because giving actual drugs to your cat would be a very, very irresponsible idea. Please don’t do that. It’s just the highest quality catnip around, to get your cat high as a kite and absolutely loving life.

Finally (Picture: Brand Station/Facebook)

Lego’s great. Until you find yourself trying to negotiate your way to the loo in the dark with piles of the tiny little bricks lying in wait.

We all know the pain of stepping, unsuspecting, onto one of those jagged little Lego landmines.

Which is why Lego have allowed Brand Station, a French advertising agency, to come up with the perfect gift for parents and big kids alike this Christmas: the official Lego slipper.

The squared-toe slippers are interchangeable between right and left feet, so it doesn’t matter if you’re putting them on in the dark.

Have you been betrayed time and time again by your overly hard, non-spreadable, so-called ‘spreadable’ butter? Felt the pain as you tear holes in your bread desperately trying to spread that ever-so-salty Lurpak?

Or maybe you have been taunted by the image of a hot cross bun oozing melting butter that you so desperately try to re-create, but fail miserably as the butter refuses to be anything to your bun but a hard greasy lump.

Now though it seems one girl, known on Facebook as EllyAwesome, may have found the way out of all our butter woes with an incredibly easy-to-make, wonderful creation.

Yorkshire is known for its love of tea, cricket and flat caps but the best part of Yorkshire is its beauty.

Don’t believe us? Here are 10 pictures that prove God’s own county is in fact the most beautiful place in the United Kingdom.

1. Yorkshire Dales

Yorkshire folk like to make a fuss about our beloved Dales, but we have a good reason for it…it’s absolutely stunning. Everywhere you turn in the Yorkshire Dales could be a postcard and we don’t seem to be the only ones who think so, the Dales attract thousands of international visitors every year.

Women who love Star Wars encounter a major problem when it comes to proudly wearing their fandom: most of the merch isn’t exactly high fashion.

Unflattering printed t-shirts, gimmicky shoes, the lovely but not that wearable Rodarte collection. That’s all we’ve really had. Until now.

American clothing brand Hot Topic has teamed up with Her Universe – a company that just so happens to be founded by Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars Rebels – to release a Star Wars clothing line that you can actually wear in real life, not just at conventions (H/T to Read the full story

He may be the eldest sibling, but that doesn’t mean that six-year-old Matthew Last is in charge.

In fact, we can assume he spends quite a lot of time being bossed about, as Matthew is seriously outnumbered.

The little boy from California, already has four younger sisters – Natalie, 4, and triplets Annemarie, Catherine and Elizabeth, 2 – so it’s hardly surprising that he was a less than impressed to find out that the latest edition to their family will be another girl.

Aaron Gillies tackles depression with humour in his new book (Picture: Amazon.co.uk)

One in eight men in the UK have been diagnosed with a mental health problem. A recent YouGov survey found that 12 per cent of men do not have a friend they would discuss a serious topic with.

Depression is something men, particularly, struggle to talk about.

Which is why comedy writer Aaron Gillies started his @TechnicallyRon Twitter account, where he shares funny anecdotes about living with mental illness.

‘You have to take the piss out of depression. Otherwise we are letting it win,’ says the 28-year-old Londoner.

Now his funny tweets about depression and the struggles of everyday life have been turned into… Read the full story

ice rinks around britain to skate on this christmas including brighton's royal pavilion, london's ice rink at canary wharf and natural history museum
The stuff of skating dreams

Once a year, we don a pair of skates that don’t quite fit us to clutch the side of ice rinks in the quest of Christmas magic.

Which sounds ridiculous, but once you’ve fallen flat on your face once and realise it doesn’t hurt all that much, it’s actually quite a lot of fun.

The copious amount of mulled wine you get to drink after isn’t bad either.

As skating is only a once-a-year thing for the majority of us, we’ve rounded up some of the most beautiful rinks around… Read the full story

Because it’s not just women who have periods.

Thinx – the makers of the famous period pants and the people behind those ‘controversial’ period adverts – has just launched its first pair of super absorbent period underwear designed for women AND transgender men.

This week Thinx sent out a mass email announcing their new product and responding to the many people who were disappointed in the brand for overlooking trans men who have periods.

They wrote: ‘We wear our tagline, “For Women with Periods,” with great honour. We are proud feminists, and… Read the full story

Oh no they didn’t (Picture: Paramount)

Nothing will make you feel quite as old as realising something you used to wear is now in a museum.

Maggie Thatcher’s clothes might not have been good enough but a baby pink Juicy Couture tracksuit from circa 2004 will soon be appearing at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Whether it will be paired with some Uggs, a Gossard G string with a diamante T-bar, and an LG Chocolate phone is yet to be seen. But we really hope so.

The velour tracksuit will feature in the ‘Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear‘ exhibition which will run from April 2016 to March 2017.
