Black Friday pandemonium has been pretty tame so far – and decidedly British in the UK, with plenty of orderly queues for kettles and Kitchenaids.

But we’re sure the madness will come. The crowds will grow. People will find themselves hypnotised by the sight of massive flat screen TVs, and punch their own grandma to get to the bargains.

For some, it’s already become too much. They can’t handle the aggressive marketing, the huge sale banners, and the queues of people at 8am.

They’ve taken to Twitter to vent their despair. Because we’re British. We’re not running people over with trolleys this year. We’re just going to grumble about everything.

Beards: The struggle is real (Picture: Getty)

The Lego beard, the neck beard, accidentally going full Craig David.

There are so many potential pitfalls for the man who’s chosen to grow a full beard.

When it’s done right, it’s a thing of beauty.

But it’s not always an easy ride. Here’s 11 struggles every hairy-faced man will go through.

1 Wetting someone’s face with your beard is a real and horrible thing that you’ve done

You have a sip of your pint. You go in for a kiss. You realise you have transferred your beard wetness on to their face. As they discreetly wipe down their mouth with their sleeve there’s literally nothing… Read the full story

Truffle. Fries. (Picture: McDonalds Singapore)

McDonald’s has gone all fancy (again).

This time in their ‘let’s try weird things with our fries’ adventures, McDonald’s Singapore has just added truffle fries to its menu.

They’re nothing too posh, – no truffle oil or pancetta here – just your regular fries with shake-on truffle flavouring. They’ve tried something similar before, with packets of cheese and seaweed seasoning available to make your chips feel a bit more exotic.

Truffle fries have only been introduced in Singapore so far, so we can’t try them for ourselves just yet.

But needless to say, people on the internet are freaking out at the very IDEA of… Read the full story

Maccabees, Mumford & Sons and mountain bikes in the Cairngorms? The world’s best reason to run for the hills

When my friend asked me to join her on an activity weekend in the Scottish mountains my answer was simple: ‘Absolutely not’.

I’m not the outdoorsy type and (*confession time*) I haven’t ridden a bike since I was a teenager, so mountain bike trekking and quad biking didn’t exactly sound like my cup of tea.

But then she threw in a sweetener. The Maccabees, one of my favourite bands, were playing at a festival hosted by Mumford & Sons in the resort where we would be staying. ‘Sign me up’, I hastily exclaimed.

Bring out the full slices of bacon. Pancetta cubes can’t handle this.

This week, Morrisons will welcome the biggest brussels sprouts in over a decade. They’re called monster sprouts, because they are SO massive they will wreak HORROR on society and change Christmas dinners as we know them.

Each sprout will weigh around 35g, compared to the typical sprout weight of 15g. Oh, the humanity.

They’re about 40mm wide and 45mm long, which – as Morrisons has pointed out – is larger than the average child’s… Read the full story

Go grandad go!

Forget dad dancing, we’re all about grandad dancing, and it’s all down to this guy.

The sprightly 83-year-old was filmed busting out his baddest moves at electronic dance music festival, Edit Festival, in Holland.

And while his salsa moves may be better suited to Strictly Come Dancing than a path in-between some bins and a field full of kids, there’s no denying that his rhythm is impeccable.

It just goes to show – age really is nothing but a number.

Finding Mr Right isn’t as easy as it looks, it turns out (Picture: Getty/Myles/Metro)

This time last year I set off on a very interesting adventure. Sadly not a trip to the other side of the world for Metro – but a challenge to try to meet a man by Christmas and to write about it here.

It wasn’t the first time I’d put my heart on my sleeve and shared articles about my love life but this time it was going a step further. This was to be a ‘warts and all’ search for a man.

Isn’t love grand?

Cosying up together and watching Netflix. Never having to brave the world of Tinder. Knowing that you have someone who truly understands you. Being in a long-term relationship really is lovely.

But sometimes, it turns you into a totally irrational monster.

Every couple has had that one massive blowout fight over something so small and silly, it feels totally ridiculous a few days later. Maybe it was that time he skipped ahead on a TV show without you (the ultimate crime). Maybe it was your inability to choose a damn place to eat.

All couples will fall victim to an incredibly petty fight,… Read the full story

This video cannot fail to fill you with joy.

When we say that no one is more excited about their birthday than this dog, we really mean it.

Standing in the kitchen before his dog bone-shaped birthday cake, donning his birthday hat, Dakota the chocolate brown Labrador is literally jumping for joy as his human family sing happy birthday in his honour.

Posting the video on Tumblr, his owner wrote: ‘He loves it when we set fire to food and then sing about it. Happy Birthday, to a good old dog.’

A rainbow-coloured line of hammocks are tied to a high wire - more than 50m (164ft) above the ground. A group of 26 people walked across the 209m long highline above several ravines before getting comfortable in 17 brightly coloured hammocks. Monte Piana, in the Italian Dolomites provided the perfect backdrop to the hammocks, where those inside them read the paper, played instruments, ate, and passed each other drinks. Come on, guys. You can’t say you’re surprised.

We’ve had glitter beards and glitter pits. Frankly, we’re a little surprised no one’s tried out glitter vag yet. But here we are. Glitter eyebrows. They’re a thing, apparently.

If you’ve long fancied jazzing up your eyebrows, but don’t feel like rainbows above your eyes are quite you, this is the trend you need to try.

You simply cover your eyebrows with low-strength, watery eyelash glue (nothing too strong, unless you feel like taking out your eyebrow hairs), press on the glitter, and go.

Spot the difference (Picture: CEN)

They’ve been dubbed ‘China’s most romantic couple.’

When Cao Yuehua and Wang Deyi, both 98, reached their 70th wedding anniversary they knew the perfect way to celebrate the impressive landmark – recreating their wedding pictures.

The couple are both originally from Shanghai, but fled to southwest China when World War II broke out.

Despite the fact they were separated for the duration of the war (after Cao was sent to the China-Burma-India Theater to work as a translator), they kept in touch through a series of romantic letters and their love endured.
