Just when I thought the build up to Christmas couldn’t get anymore exciting, I discovered that this week is National Wine Week, and, like I needed another reason to knock the ol’ vino back (well it would be rude not to) my attention was drawn to the fact that yes, there really is nothing that beats a good glass of wine.

Some would argue that sex pips it to the post in terms of general gratification, however I’m not so sure.

From a Shiraz with pizzazz to a peachy Pinot Grigio, 27 reasons why wine is better than sex.

1. Wine knows what you want without you having to tell it

… and gets it… Read the full story

Teacher finds hilarious note from an angry girl to a cheating student

It’s not every day you find your student has written an incredibly angry note to one of the classroom’s Lotharios. Well, it’s not every day you find the note they’ve written.

But thankfully, this teacher did.

The note, written by a girl who goes by the name ‘Muffin Top’, is bloody hilarious.

The note came from one Reddit User xrazors’ friend’s brother (yes, we know how ridiculous that sounds), who found the gem of a note in his classroom.

The note reads:

Payton,

You’re a PLAYER and nothing more! You cheated on TWO of my BEST friends…

Now you’re trying to get with my String Bean! (Skylar)

And if ya’ll do end up together – which I hope you don’t – you better not hurt her!!!

And if you do then me, Kenzie, Sierra and Felicity will go OFF on YOU!!

And, you’re messed up in the head because you DATED + KISSED your cousin!

My conclusion is you were on THE WEED.

I hope… Read the full story

You thought John Lewis liked to tug at the heartstrings. Well, they have nothing on German supermarket EDEKA.

EDEKA’s Christmas ad also features an elderly gentleman, but there’s no cute girl with some balloons to send him presents.

Instead, the ad starts with the old man coming home from a walk to find a voicemail from his daughter on the answerphone. ‘Hello Daddy it’s me,’ she says. A small voice is also heard shouting ‘Hello Grandpa’ in the distance.

11 things you should never say to the parent of an autistic child
(Picture: Daniella Birtley for metro)

As the proud parent of an 11 year old autistic son, I’ve heard it all.

These are just a few things that no parent of an autistic child needs to hear.

1. He’ll grow out of it

No, he won’t. He’ll get older and possibly learn to manage his autism, if he gets all the help and support he needs.

But he will always be autistic.

2. He looks normal to me

That’s the thing – if my son is in what (to him) is a safe environment, he will appear no different to a neuro-typical child.

Give it five minutes and he’ll be screaming the… Read the full story

Boy goes nuts after his mother ruins his ‘Netflix and Chill’ session

There’s many a time where we’ve been angry at our parents.

When they shrunk our clothes because they didn’t listen to us when we told them they couldn’t put them in the tumble-dryer, or when we made plans and they convinced us we’d already told them we’d babysit our younger sibling.

Going crazy on our parents because they just so happened to ruin our chances of having sex, however, wasn’t up there.

Not for us, anyway.

But for one boy, who is seen going nuts at his mother after she texts him during a Netflix and Chill session (fyi, where you say you are going to watch a film but actually end up having… Read the full story

This is awkward (Picture: Reddit)

The problem with shoving your nose into other people’s (or, in this case, creatures’) business, is that sometimes you’re going to get stung.

Something these sorry cats have definitely learnt the hard way.

While we really shouldn’t laugh (and we stress the importance of making sure they’re okay following these guidelines before you start taking photos and posting them on Reddit), there really is no more amusing (or cuter) sight than a cat that’s done battle with a bee…and lost.

This guy who’s definitely regretting his life choices right about now.

There’s a few things you should know when it comes to Inflammatory bowel disease and a couple of these things include the fact that sufferers of Inflammatory bowel disease are normal people, with normal careers, leading normal lives.

They can also be quite vulnerable – though they will probably also be one of the strongest people you will ever meet.

Here are 11 things you should know before dating someone with Inflammatory bowel disease.

1. We may need a little bit of extra support here and there

Because sometimes our illness can completely cripple us and all we will want to do is sleep. People tend to make us feel like this is wrong… Read the full story

But brace for a big queue – because the lines get pretty dench for paying customers, let alone freeloaders (they don’t take reservations).

Earlier this month, Tesco launched its cherry and chocolate Christmas sandwich and people started to worry about them.

There was also that prosecco and elderberry crisp debacle.

And now, for their next trick, they’ve introduced duck éclairs with a hoisin drizzle.

The are Tesco Finest mind.

We all love salted caramel so Tesco decided, in its wisdom, ‘to take sweet and savoury food fusion to the next level’ with its ‘exciting and innovative twist on a classic sweet chocolate éclair.’

The duck éclairs are stuffed with tender duck and marinated with Chinese 5 spice and star anise.

Suddenly, we don’t feel quite so hungry.

This picture, along with two further close ups, of a buffalo chicken ‘finger’ gone every so slightly, er, phallic was shared over the weekend by Redditor DonnyGeeseGuy.

He captioned the images grandly: ‘We called it the “Buffalo D*cken Finger”‘.

He also explained in the thread that he worked at the restaurant where it was served and that, yes, it was eaten by the customer. After the staff had finished taking pictures obviously.

Your parents are meant to shepherd you through your early years of life and gently set you on the path to becoming a functioning member of society.

Once you reach adulthood, their role as guiding hands in your life should give way to a more balanced, equal relationship.

That’s the theory anyway.

As the end of the year and the festive season approaches, many of us will find ourselves making the pilgrimage back to our parents’ homes.

The lucky ones will enjoy a healthy mix of joy and laughter with loved ones, while a far greater share can look forward to a family reunion… Read the full story

The great turtle escape (Picture: Sumasui.jp)

Japan Railways has taken extra steps to ensure no turtles were harmed in the making of the country’s railways – by installing turtle tunnels.

The West Japan Railway Company came up with the turtle-saving solution in partnership with Suma Aqualife Park in Kobe, after a spate of turtle fatalities, caused by turtles getting caught in the tracks, last summer.

The Suma park attracts thousands of visitors by train each year. It is also only a short distance from the ocean, which means a significant amount of turtle traffic across the tracks during May to September, when turtles (and tourists) are most active.

So, turtle escape routes were installed earlier this… Read the full story

In May of this year, Danielle Javernig discovered she had the genetic mutation BRCA1 – making her significantly more likely to develop breast and ovarian cancer.

She was diagnosed after she woke up in the middle of the night with a stabbing pain in her chest. She later discovered a lump.

Within a week of diagnosis, Danielle had to go through rounds of chemotherapy. After three months it became clear the treatment wasn’t working.

Danielle then had to undergo a full mastectomy.

A gentle reminder that a dog is for life, not just for Christmas.

We all know that thousands of dogs are abandoned every year, but until now most of us have been unaware of the reasons behind these decisions.

And that’s exactly what is highlighted in the Dogs Trust’s 2015 Christmas campaign.
