women burning things

Presenting your new favourite place for reaction gifs.

Tampon tax? Women setting fire to things in RAGE. Victim blaming? Burn. It. Down. Insitutional sexism? SET FIRE TO THAT CAR.*

*Vicariously, through gif form. Please never actually set fire to things.

Women Burning Things is a new Tumblr that – as the name would suggest – compiles all the gifs of women burning things in one handy place. Because sometimes, you just need to watch the world burn.

daria watching the world burn

The man behind the Tumblr, Alex Bedder, told HelloGiggles: ‘I started collecting these GIFs to post when I would become significantly frustrated with something.

‘Originally they all just sat in a folder on my desktop named ‘BURN IT DOWN’ and I’d just drag and drop whenever something outrageous was happening.’

That folder became a Tumblr, and magic was made.

Clown contouring
Really? (Picture: Youtube/ Belladellune)

This new contouring trend is both a gift and a curse.

You love the idea of being able to create the illusion of cheekbones and narrow the bridge of your nose, but god is it an art.

Here are 17 things that happen when you decide to try contouring.

1. You spend hours watching beauty vlogs on YouTube and you’re like hell yes I’m doing this.

2. You go online and look at the products the vlogger used.

3. You decide you don’t want to spend an entire month’s wages on creating an even ‘base’.

4. You discover that make-up brushes actually play an important role and the one… Read the full story

Rough day? Feeling a bit overwhelmed with all that’s wrong in the world?

We may have the solution.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium just shared what might possibly be the most magical video on the internet today: a one minute clip of their littlest polar bear cub having a snooze.

You need to see it, if only because of the tiny polar bear snores – which are apparently a sign of contentment.

But the video also raises a VERY important question. What do polar bears dream about?

xx reasons why open relationships never work Credit: Getty Images
Because who isn’t completely free from jealousy really? (Credit: Getty Images)

Monogamy isn’t for everyone, this is true. We can have our heads turned while coupled up so of course open relationships might be an option for some.

But for others, not so much. To be honest, it sounds a lot like some magical, unrealistic, ideal situation where no one gets jealous and no gets hurt.

Come on, let’s be straight with each other. It just doesn’t work.

Thinking about entering an open relationship? Here’s why you shouldn’t.

1) It relies on full-on communication

When you can taste words. (Picture: Youtube/Great Big Story)

Do you associate certain numbers with colours? Or emotions with tastes?

If you do, you may have synaesthesia. And probably just experienced a moment of ‘YES, that’s what it is. I’m not alone!’

But for people who don’t have synaesthetic tendencies, it’s a bit tricky to understand. What do you mean by the number seven being purple? How can sadness taste like sausages?

To give everyone a better understanding of the kind of sensory links those with synaesthesia experience, Great Big Story have asked a bunch of people to share how synaesthesia feels for them.

‘Somewhere in my brain the senses get mixed… Read the full story

Screw tinsel. The new thing you need to jazz up your Christmas tree? According to Design Love Fest, it’s all about flowers this year.

Inspired by one blog’s very Pinterest-y tutorial, people are now decorating their Christmas trees in flowers – real and fake (H/T HelloGiggles).

The end result is super elegant and pretty, and feels a lot more modern than your standard baubles.

You can go for bright shades, to add a bit of a summer-y feel to your festive celebrations.

A fight to the death ensued. (Picture: Getty)

Ooh, we love a good cracker.

Classic dad jokes, the fierce sense of competition to win a pair of tweezers, paper hats – we love it all. No Christmas dinner table is complete with a cracker at every place setting.

But the humble Christmas cracker also has the greatest potential to be a massive disappointment.

Whether it’s a subpar snap, gifts that no one wants, or jokes that aren’t even funny in a lame way, a not-so-cracking cracker can kill off the festive spirit in seconds.

Luckily, we’ve sorted through all the crackers available in supermarkets and on the high street, to bring… Read the full story

There’s no doubt that one of everyone’s favourite parts in Mean Girls (if you’ve seen it of course – and if you haven’t, what have you been doing with your life that’s so important?) is when all the girls get together in skimpy Christmas outfits to perform their own rendition of ‘Jingle Bell Rock.’

From Regina’s fake-breasted mother trying desperately to join in whilst filming her beloved daughter from every possible angle, to Gretchin Weiner ‘accidentally’ kicking the stereo into Jason’s face, there’s nothing you could possibly hate about the musical scene.

And, to help you reminisce about the much-loved chick-flick, four topless boys have come to your rescue to perform… Read the full story

winter beauty

Welcome to the season where constant dry skin makes you feel a bit reptile like.

Sure winter is great because it gives us stuff like Christmas, the ability to eat several mince pies in one sitting without judgement, and of course the excitement of shopping for a new coat.

But there are some drawbacks, such as the endless beauty problems the drop in temperature causes. No longer can you skip out the front door without slathering yourself in cream, or a hat, because now you have to take a whole heap of precautions.

1. Chapped lips

You can kiss goodbye (see what we did there?) to having soft lips, because they will be cracked, peeling, and generally quite disgusting, all thanks to the cold weather. Best keep a XXL tub of lip balm nearby at all times.

2. Dry skin

All of a sudden your skin starts to feel sore, tight, itchy and flaky, because yes, you are… Read the full story

When your baby first learns to crawl it’s one of the most exciting milestones of the first year.

However, he immediately discovers how to get up the stairs, into the cupboards and pull himself up to standing on the toilet – before shredding a whole roll of toilet paper.

Here are 20 things you’ll understand if you’re the parent of a recent crawler.

1. Different babies crawl in different ways – I’ve had a commando crawler, a backwards crawler and a bum shuffler.

2. No matter how many times you remove him from the top of the stairs he will crawl straight back over to them… Read the full story

When it comes to sex life’s not a competition.

Which is just as well because, if it was, women have won this year.

According to a recent survey, women spent a total of four days having sex in 2015.

Men just had an average of three days’ nookie.

Guys were spending longer in bed than women this year, but they were using it to sleep.

The average man had 80 days’ sleep, while women only got 66 days of shut eye.

And, in extremely British cliche news, we all spent more than twice the amount of time talking about the weather than having sex.

The black and white images, taken by fashion photographer Fred Goudon, show the firefighters going about their daily tasks, in various stages of undress.

It’s all in aid of a good cause – the 2016 calendar has been released to raise funds for non-governmental organisation, Firefighters Without Borders. The charity helps firefighters recovering from difficult situations, recognising the high price they often have to pay to help others.

This looks way more fun than the last day at work (Picture: Getty)

Sure, Christmas is still fun, but let’s face it…it was way better when you were back in school.

Nowadays you’re all too aware of the whole commercial aspect of it, and you begrudge having to pay extra for your normal coffee just because they’ve added a little cinnamon to it.

Instead you long to go back in time, back to the good old days when you were in school, and Christmas was the highlight of your entire year.

Bridget is your single spirit guide (Picture: macbubs/Reddit)

Fed up of all your loved-up friends and their ‘ironic’ (so not ironic) couples’ Christmas cards?

Then let Bridget be your inspiration.

Redditor macbubs explains: ‘I have four sisters. Me and three of my sisters are married. Bridget is not. My parents decided it would be awkward to have a Christmas card with just one daughter in it, so they cut Bridget out of their Christmas card (the married siblings all do their own. except me. I’m lazy).

‘So Bridget decided to send her own Christmas cards.’

Bridget’s been creating her hilariously awkward single Christmas cards since 2010.

Surprise! (Picture: John French/Facebook)

Friends are great aren’t they?

When Gareth Neary from Drumcondra, Dublin, stepped off a 30-hour flight from Sydney last week, presumably all he wanted was to get home and get into a nice, cosy bed.

Unfortunately for him, his mates had other ideas.

To celebrate his return and his hatred of Christmas (for reasons unknown, although his friends might have something to do with it), they decided to gift wrap his entire bedroom.

Mate John French posted a clip of Gareth’s homecoming on Facebook, which has now had over 100,000 views, with the comment: ‘For someone who notoriously hates Christmas and has just travelled 30 hours from Sydney… Happy Christmas Gareth Neary.’
