scary chopping machine

Chopping vegetables is so boring. Seriously, it’s one of the major reasons we end up ordering and consuming an entire pizza rather than making the delicious ratatouille we had planned.

One woman has come up with a solution. Sort of.

Technological mastermind Simone Giertz, the creator of the also brilliant breakfast machine, has just invented the machine to end all of our vegetable chopping woes.

‘I’ve been a vegetarian almost my entire life, and I chop a lot of vegetables,’ she explained. ‘My solution to almost every problem that I have is to build a machine.’

The only problem? Her chopping machine is a little terrifying. And definitely not best used for drunk snacking.

Ah, Christmas. The most wonderful time of the year.

When families from all over the world join together to spend time with one another and celebrate a wonderful day of love and generosity.

And what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to get everyone together for a Christmas-themed family photo?

So, that’s exactly what this family did.

Except, the photograph they chose to share with the world was a little weird, to say the least.

But at least it’s Christmas inspired, right?

With the main man, dad, wearing a T-shirt that says ‘Chillin’ with my ho’s’ (sic), while surrounded by what seems to be his two daughters and his wife wearing T-shirts that each say ‘Ho’, the picture was posted under the caption ‘My… Read the full story

Hangover

Feeling a little tender today?

Well, take comfort in the knowledge that 899,999 Brits are in exactly the same boat as you.

A survey into the nation’s hangover habits has revealed that nine million Brits will suffer the after-effects of too much booze this week alone, with Friday (December 18) the most popular day for the office Christmas party.

Hangovers aren’t just for Christmas though. The poll carried out by SodaStream of 2,000 booze-drinking Brits also revealed that 12 per cent of us pull at least two ‘sickies’ a year due to hangovers. Londoners are the worst, with 12 per cent taking at least five sick days a year due to a hangover.

Hangover 2

Oh, and five million of us regularly have hangovers that last 25 hours or more. FML.

As this handy hangover map of the UK shows, it’s those in Northern Ireland, the North West and Scotland who suffer the longest hangovers.

This man puts our snuggling cat photos (captured after fifteen scratchy, painful attempts) to shame.

Allan Dixon is an Irish photographer who spends his time travelling, taking amazing photos of his surroundings, and generally inspiring all of our wanderlust.

He also happens to be the master of taking selfies with animals, from kangaroos and quokkas to donkeys and tiny birds.

Allan told RT: ‘You have to be still, lie down, gain their trust in their environment for a while. Most of the time they’re more scared of you than you are of them.’

Because we just don’t over-indulge enough at Christmas, one Lincolnshire chippie has given its mince pies a battering.

Oh My Cod, in Spalding, has given the classic mince pie an unusual twist by deep frying it – and the result is a hit with customers.

‘We’ve never done them before,’ says Bill Rai, from the family run takeaway. ‘We just wanted to do something for Christmas.

‘A lot of places have done battered Mars Bars and we just thought this was something a little different.’

The shop has sold around 100 of the pies – priced 60p each – since adding… Read the full story

Ignore the advice. (Picture: HBO)

People in their 20s get a whole load of unwarranted advice from ‘proper grown-ups’.

Often it’s well-meant tidbits from your parents, grandparents and older colleagues.

Plus the internet has a whole ton of supposed words of wisdom for young people.

But sometimes it’s worth probing that ‘helpful’ advice and questioning if it will really work for you.

Just because you’ve heard the same lines a billion times doesn’t mean it’s true, as a new Reddit thread proves.

Try not to be consumed with envy but this family is living your dream.

And they’re helping make other families’ lives a little easier at the same time, so you can’t even hate them. Sorry.

Last year, 25-year-old Garrett Gee from Utah sold his mobile scanning app to Snapchat for $54 million (£36 million). Which left him twiddling his thumbs a bit.

Then living in a modest apartment in Provo, the dad-of-two (Dorothy, 3, and Manilla, 1) and his wife Jessica, 29, had a chat about what to do next.

8 ways to embrace being dumped at Christmas

Been dumped. Send help. (Picture: Getty)

Statistically, there’s a big surge in break-ups at Christmas. Ouch. So much for it being the season of goodwill!

That said, if it ain’t right, it ain’t right and here’s what you should do if you do find yourself broken up with at Christmas.

1. Go away

Being dumped over Christmas is harsh but it also means you have free reign to do something completely drastic. Take a trip away, spend Christmas somewhere new or if you can make it happen, escape to somewhere hot. Not only will it help you avoid the faces of sympathy around the Christmas dinner table, but it’ll also give you a well-deserved holiday.

2. Know that… Read the full story

Oh look, it’s you. (Picture: Getty)

There’s always one. It’s just that this year, it’s you.

Office Christmas parties are made for getting drunk, yelling at your coworkers, and knocking down the Christmas tree. It has to happen. It’s the true spirit of Christmas: alcohol and embarassment.

If you’re the poor sod who’s ended up humiliating themselves at the Christmas party – through uncomfortable flirting, throwing up in a corner, or your destructive drunk alter-ego – don’t panic. You don’t need to quit or hide in the stationery cupboard for the rest of your days.

You just need to get through that… Read the full story

Dads are really on top of their game this year when it comes to the ever more popular, ever more surreal, Christmas tradition that is Elf on the Shelf.

While we awarded maximum dad points earlier this month to one American dad who turned himself into a real-life, mischievous elf, we think this dad definitely deserves a commendation.

Utah dad-of-six Alan Lawrence, who runs That Dad Blog, was inspired by his friends’ stories about leaving little elf spies round the house to surprise their kids.

But, he wanted to take it to the next level, so he turned his four-month-son… Read the full story

Er, you might want a coat (Picture: Getty)

For some people, going out to a party is just as simple as throwing on something fabulous and walking out of the door.

As a wheelchair user I shop the high street like everybody else but find I need to take special care and keep certain things in mind when I’m choosing and styling an outfit perfect for an evening out.

These are my top tips for dressing to impress this festive party season.

It’s been a big year for bold hair.

We’ve turned our locks into sunsets, rainbows and tie-dye masterpieces.

And then there were glitter roots, which have taken over Instagram for the festive season.

Which looks very sparkly and everything, but you know there is no way back from covering your hair in glitter.

Once applied, you will never be free from glitter again, no matter how many times you wash it out.

But there’s good news for those who still want a golden sheen to their tresses, but aren’t prepared to put up with a trail of glitter for the next… Read the full story

Christmas Eve is almost here and the world is excitedly anticipating the arrival of Santa Claus.

It is a mum’s job to always suspect the worst.

Because, as we all know – since we have indeed all been there – kids are not to be trusted.

However, just occasionally, they’re not actually spending the night in a fog of drugs, sex and alcohol. They are in fact just hanging out with their friends enjoying retro sugar-filled soft drinks.

As one overprotective mum discovered.

Imgur user NubbishStubsXP posted this text exchange between a mum and her ‘errant’ son earlier this week. This mum is basically all our mums.

Nice jumpers, guys (Picture: Getty)

Happy Christmas Jumper Day!

Christmas jumpers have gone from something you avoided to something you actively embrace.

And now you can’t escape them. The tackier the better in our opinion – bonus points if you’ve managed to snag one that has the capacity to emit multi-coloured lights.

Here are some people that you’ll definitely see today.

1. The safety hazard

Surely it cannot be safe to float around all day, sliding from one location to the next whilst essentially wearing fairy lights that are prone to overheating tucked inside layers of fabric? Expect to see someone wearing an awful light up invention, complete with multi-coloured flashing lights. Like the human equivalent of Blackpool illuminations.

A Paris born baker called Patricia Nascimento has shared her recipe and it involves mixing vanilla and chocolate flavoured bread doughs.

As in, this might just be the sexiest bread we’ve ever seen.
