Reddit asked users what sorts of things they got away with doing when they were young that teenagers nowadays wouldn’t be able to.

This is what they came up with. Bring on the memories, everyone.

If you own a cat and you celebrate Christmas, chances are you know that our feline friends really like Christmas trees.

But not all cats are content with pawing off the most expensive baubles and lapping up water from the stand.

Nope, some like to hark back to their ancestors’ wild roots and get really at one with nature by climbing up the fir.

And naturally destroying all your most precious ornaments in the process.

Which we’re kind of okay with, because they look frickin’ adorable snuggled in the branches.

In fact, we’re obsessed – and we are confident you will be too:

Do you remember the first time you found out that the person who had been eating the carrots and mince pies you left behind for Father Christmas was actually one of your parents?

Ever wondered how kids of today may react when that day finally comes?

Well, for this mother, it didn’t go down as well as she’d hoped.

Posting a handwritten letter from her daughter, Belle, to Facebook, Nicki Adams, from Maryland, USA, said: ‘The time has finally come. Belle asked point blank about Santa and she’s been asking every day.

So we were truthful – and she may never speak to us again… especially when we lost our ever loving sh*t at the pictures on the right that she slid under the door to us.’

We really feel for Nicki – and for Belle – because you can really tell how gutted… Read the full story

In the run up to Miss Universe 2015, the contestants shared their no makeup selfies as part of the #ConfidentlyBeautiful campaign.

And as if we weren’t jealous enough as it was, the women are just as stunning without the blow dries and lippy.

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) insists the campaign isn’t here to make us lesser mortals feel envious and insecure.

Rather, they says it aims to use ‘its global grassroots reach to empower women to be self-confident and strive to be their personal best. MUO believes that every woman should be “Confidently Beautiful”.’

Which is a quite a nice message really.

How do you like them apples? (Picture: Deni Kirkova)

I’ve been dedicated to eating the most healthy diet possible for the past two years.

But while I’d heard so many great things about veganism, I still wasn’t sure I could do it.

It seemed like such a commitment to give up something that I sincerely enjoyed – and to give it up forever.

Because veganism is more than just a diet or a healthy eating regime – it’s a way of life.

The vegan community is vocal and passionate, and joining them felt like an all or nothing decision.… Read the full story

This guy threw a coming of age party for his dog, complete with mariachi band and cake

This guy actually threw a quinceanera for his dog, Angel.

For those who aren’t familiar with the celebrations, they’re held to mark a woman’s 15th birthday in Latin American communities.

There’s a bit more razzmatazz than your usual birthday shindig as it marks the passage from child to young woman.

Or in this case, the passage from pup to proper pooch.

Except that Angel’s not really been a pup for sometime, as 15 years for a human is about 80 for a dog.

Not that that’s any reason not to throw out the red carpet (no seriously they lay out a red carpet) and give the old gal a party.

Jocy Evans, from Melbourne, Australia SELFIE addicts are replacing angels and stars on top of the Christmas tree with photographs of themselves. The Christmas craze sweeping the globe is particularly popular among teenage girls who claim ìthey are the starî. And they have been succeeding them with a large picture of their own face.

No longer can we fool ourselves into thinking that we can have a long life and scoff whatever we like, just as long as we exercise a lot.

For scientists have killed that happy delusion with a new study.

The researchers aimed to see if high fitness levels can compensate for the health risks of being obese.

And it turns out, it can’t.

Following 1.3 million Swedish men over the period of 29 years, they looked at the relationship between aerobic fitness in late adolescence and early death.

Science has proven that a glass of red wine has the same effects as a workout at the gym

It almost sounds too good to be true, but thankfully, it is not.

According to scientific researchers at Canada’s University of Alberta, red wine holds the same natural compound – resveratrol – as nuts and grapes – which, when tested on mice, improved their physical performance, heart function and muscle strength.

And while of course, we can’t really compare ourselves to mice on all levels, it seems the compound really does benefit us too.

Lead investigator Jason Dyck told Science Daily: ‘Resveratrol showed results similar to what you would see from extensive endurance exercise training.

Resveratrol could help patient populations who want to exercise but are physically incapable. Resveratrol could mimic exercise for them or improve the benefits of the modest amount of exercise that they can do.’

In short, that means red wine possesses ingredients that create the same effects as going to the gym. So, by drinking a glass of… Read the full story
