Imagine if there was a social tradition that dictated that if you saw a particular type of plant, you had to accept the makeout session of whoever the heck is passing by.

Horrific, right?

Oh. Wait. That’s actually a thing.

For some reason, Christmas is the time when usually absurd, deeply disturbing things become totally okay.

A man sneaking through your chimney: fine, it’s festive! Giving your workmates joke butt plugs from their secret Santa: LOL! Casual date rape mentions in adverts: all good!

And the worst offender of all. Mistletoe.

Can you guess what this is? It’s not pizza

This is some kind of sick joke.

Because someone has decided to create this monstrosity that looks just like a pizza, heck it even comes in a pizza box and is delivered to your door, but it’s all trickery because it is not an actual pizza.

No stringy cheese for your teeth to play with, no fresh dough to caress with your tongue, no whiff of glorious pizza smell to let you know everything is going to be alright.

Christmas will never be the same.

Not since the dawn of Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and wifi.

Never again will we have an entirely tech-free festive day in with the family.

The kids will be Snapchatting the entire experience. Your mum will inevitably share a misspelled festive quote over a totally irrelevant picture of a sunset on Christmas day. Your grandparents will sit, confused and fed up, as you scroll through people’s live-tweets of their Christmas dinner.

It’s not a bad thing, necessarily. Social media can be quite nice over Christmas, especially when there’s so much Instagrammable food and decoration about.

But if you’re planning to have a very social Christmas, you need to… Read the full story

Natalie and Adam Duckworth, 24, and 26, from Chorley, Lancs, recently tied the knot among their family and friends.

But, for this couple, bridesmaids and a best man weren’t enough. They wanted a flower girl. Sure, doesn’t seem any different to many other weddings, does it? Except for the fact that their idea of a flower girl was their tiny two-year-old pug, Pumpkin.

The adorable pugalier – a pug and King Charles Cavalier cross – had all eyes on her as she strutted her stuff around the ceremony in a white-flower collar. Just take a few moments before carrying on to catch your breath over the cuteness of it all.

For some, the excitement that Christmas is just around the corner now is so great that they simply can’t think of anything else. But for others, they’re more excited for Boxing Day – a day that confirms Christmas is over.

They’re counting down the minutes in their heads, until they can sneak off back to their own lives without having to spread festive cheer to people they don’t particularly even like. They’re over Christmas before it’s even begun.

And you know who else is completely over Christmas already? This cat.

Posted by America’s Funnies Home Videos, this video shows a tabby cat struggling to get a Santa’s hat off of his head. Obviously the hat wasn’t his choice – that shows all too well.

While we can’t confirm whether the hat just wasn’t his colour, or perhaps he thought the style didn’t suit him particularly well, we do know that he wants the hat… Read the full story

If you were to receive a great piece of advice from someone who cares about you, what would you do?

How about if this well-intentioned message was written in a Christmas card?

Well it seems this train passenger didn’t agree with the note received from what looked like a worried friend, and so they ripped it up.

Seems a little harsh, no? Of course, we don’t know the relationship between these two people, perhaps there was some heartbreak or a little bad blood.

One passenger was an intrigued as we are and decided to find all of the pieces and put them back together.

(Picture: Getty)

Holidays are coming! As the yuletime approaches and festivities begin, there are a few things every parent of teenagers know about Christmas.

1. Their gifts get smaller, yet more expensive.

2. Christmas parties mean less jelly and ice-cream and more alcopops and cider.

3. You get your own back by waking THEM up in excitement on Christmas morning!

4. You miss the days when their gifts to you were handmade, salt dough painted Santas.

5. No more nativities.  Gone are the days of crying in the audience as your offspring monotones ‘Look at yonder star’ with a tea towel on their head.

Would you? (Picture: Amy Ericsson/ohbiteit.com)

In our mission to deep fry our entire Christmas meal, we may have gone too far.

Deep fried turkey? Sure, that might be a more convenient way to cook a dinner than all that basting. Deep fried mince pies? We wouldn’t turn one down. Or five.

But deep fried eggnog? We’re just not sure.

The calorific creation was thought up by Amy Ericsson of Oh, Bite It! – the same woman who replaced the breadcrumbs on mozzarella sticks with bacon – a food blogger who knows her way around a deep fryer.

From meat-free centrepieces to faux-leather handbags, vegans have the holly-est, jolly-est holidays of all – most of the time.

1. Someone will ask you if you cheat by eating meat as part of your Christmas meal

Nope – the idea of consuming flesh, muscle and blood, not to mention cow secretions and chicken ovulations sounds as gross now as it does at any other time of the year.

2. A distant relative will give you an awkward present

hillary clinton wow

Ever wondered what would happen if you threw a boiling hot cup of tea in the air in extremely cold temperatures?

We have. But we’ve never been able to try it out. Firstly because we live in the UK, where it’s pretty unlikely to ever hit -40°C. But also because we’re clumsy, and think we’d probably end up throwing hot tea directly into our faces.

One photographer has braved the elements (and hot tea) and found the answer to the question we’ve all been desperately asking.

Yep, Ontario based photographer Michael Davies headed out in the -40°C temperatures to get his friend, Markus Sivola, to throw a thermos of tea in the air.

This is what happened:

Just to be clear, I love Christmas.

I love waking up to find presents under the tree (okay, I put half of them there myself), the early morning Bucks Fizz and the way our family take it in turns to wear the Santa hat each year and pass out the presents.

Though Christmas Day is a truly wonderful, magical day, the build-up to it definitely takes its toll.

I wish we could celebrate Christmas without all the necessary things we have to do in order to celebrate this one day.

Here are 12 of the worst things about the build-up to Christmas.

While the majority of the UK are looking forward to some time off, some festivities and ample amounts of food and mulled wine, for many December 25th is just another normal day at the office.

Despite many businesses reluctantly closing their doors for Christmas Day, there are lots of people out there who will be doing a shift as normal and won’t really be into the hype that started around mid-November.

Jamie Oliver also proved popular in the poll of 2,000 Brits with his chilli con carne and homemade pizza dough recipes the second and third most searched-for recipes.

Is this about sex? (Picture: Megan-Magdalena Bourne)

You’ve probably heard of Instagram’s strict policies about nudity and the female body by now.

Like how they sexualise the female nipple by banning it while allowing men’s nips to be out and proud.

And yes, you will see partial nudity below.

You may also have heard of a growing number of female artists who are screwing those policies and continuing to showcase their photography, which plays with ideas of sex and gender, on the social media platform.

They’re displaying the female body in its full glory and challenging preconceptions of femininity by showing off body hair (and yes that includes pubes).
