You may want to grab a box of tissues before reading on.

An elderly widow has received the best Christmas gift she could have imagined after her daughter made her a pillow using her late-husband’s shirt.

As she opens the gift, the woman’s daughter can be heard saying: ‘It’s Papa’s shirt. Isn’t that beautiful?’

The emotional moment was captured on video by the widow’s grandson, Hamza Khan, who then uploaded it to Facebook.

Alongside the video, Hamza wrote: ‘My mom made my grandma a pillow out of my grandpa’s old shirt. Is this not the cutest?’

The video has already been viewed by over five million people, and shared… Read the full story

Or you could just make them sleep downstairs (Picture: Colchão Inteligente Postural/Facebook)

According to research by the Centre of Sleep Medicine in the US, sleeping with your pet can help you get a better night’s rest.

However, as great as it sounds in principle, in reality, they spent the whole night fidgeting, farting and breathing on your face. Plus, you’re terrified you’ll roll over and crush them in the night.

So, Brazilian mattress company Colchão Inteligente Postural has come up with an innovative solution – a bed that incorporates a mini-bunk for your four-legged friend.

Although it’s pretty bijoux – bad luck if you’ve got a Great Dane.

We spend our lives watching David Attenborough wildlife documentaries, marvelling at the strange stuff the animal kingdom gets up to.

But what if the tables were turned?

Enter the team at Buff Dudes and their spot-on parody of gym culture.

If you’re set on getting fit for the new year, be warned – you are entering a savagely competitive landscape.

The film begins with the journey of a young female human, whose emergence ‘marks the return of the new year resolutioners after months of apartment confinement’.

Her journey is a perilous one, as she comes across fully developed human males in the midst of their exercise cycles and sexually aroused predators who watch over the harsh free-weight terrain.

According to a recent YouGov study, one in five teens in the UK have been a target of cyberbullying. A fifth of victims missed school as a result, with similar numbers going on to have suicidal thoughts.

Lauren Brocious, a 17-year-old student and vlogger from Winchester, Virginia, knows how that feels.

But, rather than let the bullies’ labels and words define her, she has hit back in a powerful anti-bullying video.

‘I was cyberbullied in eighth grade and I just felt like I couldn’t go to school and I couldn’t talk to people because I was so worried about what people were saying about me,’ Lauren told WHAG.

She explained: ‘My… Read the full story

Dumplings are universal. (Picture: Yiying Lu)

After months of desperation and longing, it happened. We were finally granted to gift of cheese, taco, and burrito emoji.

But in our battle for a greater range of tiny pictures to express our truest feelings, there may have been one little food item we overlooked. And that was a grave mistake.

Science is cool. (Picture: Youtube/CrazyRussianHacker)

File this under things you never knew you desperately needed to know.

Youtube experimenter Taras Kul, AKA CrazyRussianHacker, has tested out what happens if you pour bleach into a glass of Coke. Why? We honestly have no idea.

But it’s somehow the exact thing we’ve always wanted to know. We just didn’t know it yet.

‘Safety is my number one priority,’ he explains, before pouring a highly toxic substance into a liquid people would casually pick up and chug.

‘This experiment is called the power of bleach.’

So. If you pour a glass of Coca Cola and add bleach, the colour starts to disappear. Oooooh.

As DIY Christmas presents go, this definitely beats homemade chutney.

25-year-old tech genius Dylan Pierce from Philadelphia built his girlfriend Amy a computerised ‘magic mirror’ which gives her random compliments, as well as telling her the date, time and weather forecast.

He posted the results of his DIY project on Reddit two days ago and it’s proved so popular (1.3m views and counting) that he’s now provided a full tutorial on how to build your own.

The whole build, which involved a bit of woodwork and a small, cheap computer called a Raspberry Pi, cost around $300 (£200) and took 20 man hours. But we’re guessing it was worth… Read the full story

We all try to be the best parents we can, yet no matter how hard you try there will always be a time when you feel guilty for saying ‘no’ too much, not playing with the kids enough, or losing your rag when your brood take forever to get out of the door.

Here are 21 New Year’s resolutions you no doubt will be thinking about making for 2016:

1. Don’t say ‘no’ as much.

2. Get to bed before 11pm and don’t be tempted by the second wind you get once the kids are asleep.

3. No more eating the kids’ leftovers.

4. Stay calm when tantrums are thrown. Don’t… Read the full story

Being anxious may have one perk (Picture: Getty)

Anxiety sucks. It has the uniquely horrible ability to make you feel like you’re losing your mind and like you’re just being dramatic at the same time. It makes the tiniest, silliest things terrifying. It interrupts your day with some super fun heart-pounding.

But hey. Let’s try to look on the bright side – as near-impossible as that is. Because a new study suggests that being anxious may have an expected benefit for your daily life.

The study, published in eLife, found that those with anxiety may be better at detecting negative emotions in others, and reacting to threatening situations as a result.

Dogs are smarter than they seem, and it’s time we listen to their woofs of wisdom.

Here are 11 life lessons you can learn from your dog:

1. Be a good listener

Any dog owner will know that dogs are the best listeners. They can sit there and listen to you cry and moan and argue and they don’t judge you at all. You can learn a lot from these beasts. Listen to your friends, your family and your co-workers. You may just be surprised what you can learn.

2. Don’t judge by appearances

Bored of holding women to unattainable beauty standards, the industry has now set its sights on men.

Specifically, their furry butts. No word of a lie.

‘Thanks to Snapchat and sexting, people are more conscious over their appearance, and this includes the butt,’ spa educator Ben Brown from Bliss Spa told Mashable.

Apparently, numbers of men asking for butt waxes or shaves have increased significantly in the last year. It is, Ben says, becoming ‘the new norm’.

Most weddings involve rinsing the [fingers-crossed] free bar, loading up on the beige buffet at midnight and passing out after dawn.

But, for nutritionist Jessica Sepel‘s wedding party, the experience was somewhat different.

Aussies Jessica, 26, and husband Dean Steingold, 30, didn’t want to sacrifice their healthy lifestyles on their big day, so they decided to have a ‘clean’ wedding.

The couple married on a beautiful white, sandy beach in Koh Samui, Thailand, at the weekend after treating their 170 guests to a breakfast buffet including sugar-free bliss balls and banana-date-walnut muffins.

Oh, and a group yoga session before breakfast.

Make it stop (Picture: Getty/Metro)

Sure, 2015 has been a decent year overall, but there are some things that we really don’t need more of in 2016.

We had some great moments like Adele’s new album, the TV show Empire, new items on the Nando’s menu, and the guy who wore a leather vest on an episode of University Challenge.

Sadly it wasn’t all great news, and quite frankly there are some things we would love never to hear of again after this year ends.

Here’s a list of what shouldn’t enter 2016.

1. Kimye

Eurgh, as if the extensive coverage of this couple wasn’t enough, they even have an annoying nickname. Let’s stop caring… Read the full story

2015 was supposed to be the year of Nordic foods, cauliflower (the new kale) and maple water.

Which, um, didn’t really happen. It was more hot dogs, one-trick-pony restaurants, and freakshakes.

Still, it’s a new year and people can’t help themselves. So, the culinary world has been making its predictions about what we’re going to be munching on in 2016.

We’re still not convinced about all that foraging (guys, there’s a Sainsbury’s right there) or the whole raw food thing, but we’re totally okay with… Read the full story

But you know what’s actually cool? Being kind.

Being mean – especially to other women – isn’t cool at all.

With that in mind, Youtuber Lilly Singh, AKA Superwoman, has launched #GirlLove. It’s a new social media campaign encouraging women to stop the girl on girl hate and start spreading the love.

She explains: ‘As women, we know how awesome other women can be. It’s time to change the… Read the full story

Is this sustainable? (Picture: Getty)

Now discussions around what you received for Christmas are over, talk turns to New Year’s resolutions.

Does anyone actually think they are a good thing? Sure, plans to make a few small changes are sensible, but what is so awful about 2015’s you that you need a complete and utter overhaul?

More to the point, making them just sets us up for a fall.

So here’s a list of all the New Year’s resolutions that we just shouldn’t even bother making this year.

1. Lose 4 stone by that wedding in April

Be realistic. Unless you are planning on sewing your mouth shut, and living on nothing but air from now until spring, it’s going to be pretty hard to… Read the full story

We don’t know how you wrap it but you can’t fault the craftmanship.

Jared Weissman, a civil engineering student from Virginia, USA, has been with girlfriend Shelby Stein, a total Potterhead, for five years. So, he was kind of running out of ideas on the Harry Potter front.

‘My room is slowly turning into a Harry Potter fan cave,’ Shelby admitted to Seventeen.com. ‘This obsession with collection prop replicas started almost a year ago when I had the idea to create a Harry Potter trunk to store my books and fill and cover the outside it with props/memorabilia.’

She also has a Hogwarts acceptance letter, Tom Riddles’ diary, Albus Dumbledore’s will, and the… Read the full story
