Strong, toned and lean, these women have sculpted bodies most can only dream of.

But rather than calorie restriction and running, their lean gains are carved from pumping iron in the weights room.

Fresh Fitness Food ambassador and fitness blogger Zanna van Dijk says: ‘Lifting weights has so many benefits for women, from increasing bone density to giving them a sense of empowerment.

‘However it is still clouded by outdated ideas such as “protein makes you bulky” or “don’t lift heavy or you’ll look like a man”.

Becoming ‘bulky’ would be a hard task for a woman involving ‘years of rigorous training and a mountain of food,’ she says.

Life is so hard. (Picture: Getty/Alamy/MYLO)

Nothing will inspire judgement and rage among your peers quite like saying you don’t like cheese.

It’s worse than admitting you think avocados are a bit gross. It’s almost as controversial as declaring a dislike of chocolate.

It’s worth keeping silent in your cheese hatred, if only to avoid the shouts of ‘but how can you not like CHEESE?’ repeated over, and over. There is no answer.

But you’re not alone. There are other cheese-haters that walk among us. These are our struggles.

No one should be ashamed of how they look.

We all get spots, stretch marks and body hair, so surely these aren’t flaws and imperfections, but instead part of being human, right?

Which is what a growing number of female artists are representing in their work, including the photographer Petra Collins

While Collins shoots photos of celebrities like Selena Gomez for fashion magazines, her photos aren’t touting a one dimensional version of beauty.

Toilets. The secret moneymaker. (Picture: Alamy)

Since the dawn of the 9 to 5, one debate has raged on: is it okay to poop at work?

The anti-office-pooping team argue that it’s embarrassing, an unfair use of communal toilets, and best left to the privacy of one’s own home.

But the pro-office-pooping crew have a powerful argument on their side. They claim that the workplace is the best place to drop one, pointing out – quite rightly – that any time spent in the toilet at work is time you’re getting paid to poop.

Which is kind of magical, really.

Everybody knows that in the UK, alongside most countries around the world, the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand.

But have you ever stopped to ask yourself why we do this? Or where this tradition came from?

Well, it all actually started before medical science first discovered how the circulatory system actually functioned. Before the discovery, stemming from a Tudor belief from the 16th-century, people believed that a vein ran directly from the fourth finger on the left hand, all the way to the heart.

Because of the left hand/heart connection, the descriptive name ‘vena amoris’, Latin for the vein of love, was chosen for this… Read the full story

So this happened (Picture: Adam Duggan/Twitter)

Behold the Toblorange.

Some things just fit, you know?

On January 2, 2016, in those lost days between Christmas and New Year, British author James Hannah had an idea.

He took his bar of Toblerone, everyone’s favourite airport chocolate, and his Christmas Terry’s Chocolate Orange, and he realised what those chunky chocolate grooves had been crying out for all these years.

And, so, the Toblorange was born.

Hannah immediately took to Twitter to share his invention and some people believe 2016 has already peaked.

Hannah generously waived his copyright fee and gave Toblorange to the… Read the full story

Breakfast shot
No you’re not drunk, these are hash brown breakfast shots (Picture: The Vulgar Chef/Instagram)

There’s no booze in them, but we’re drunk in love for these breakfast shots.

Created by Kyle Marcoux, aka The Vulgar Chef, these ‘breakfast shooters’ are the ultimate brekkie-to-go.

The shot glass is made using golden, fried, cheesy hash browns *drools*. You can make a whole load of them in advance and then, when you fancy a quick shot of eggs and bacon in the morning, you just deep fry them and add whatever else you fancy.

Kyle goes for scrambled egg and bacon but there’s no reason you… Read the full story

What’s in a name? (Picture: Sian David)

We’ve all been handed our morning latte by a grinning Starbucks barista, with a name that bears no resemblance to our own scrawled across it.

We just haven’t worked out yet whether it’s an innocent mistake, or whether they’re just messing with us.

But, spare a thought for 33-year-old Siân David, a newspaper sub-editor, who moved to Bristol from Wales two years ago.

Siân has a pretty traditional Welsh first name (the equivalent of Jane in English).

But, apparently, Starbucks just can’t get their heads around it.

After getting a different, incorrect, variation every day – anything from Shane to Shall – she decided to start taking… Read the full story

Get the tissues ready, because this is about to get emotional.

There can be a lot of bitterness when parents divorce and remarry.

It’s never easy not being able to spend every day with your kid, but this family proves that good can come from doubling your parent quota.

After all, with four people in the picture there’s a whole lot of love to go around.

Jamey and Tara were married for seven years and had their son Nakhjavani, affectionately known as Nak, after two years of marriage.

Sex. It should be simple. An honest moment of true connection. Or carnal lust. Or, you know, angry breakup sex.

But sometimes sex is hard. And not in the *erect penis joke* way. Women can struggle to reach orgasm, foreplay can be rubbish, stress and tiredness can make the whole thing feel entirely underwhelming.

So while our idealistic side tells us to CALM DOWN on all the sex-related gadgetry, our honest, rational side knows that sometimes we could all use a helping hand.

Maybe it’s a high-powered vibrator, for when we really can’t… Read the full story

How having a baby affects a mother’s brain: Work before babies vs work after babies

A new study claims that ‘baby brain’ is a myth and women actually become better workers after having kids.

Despite the brain shrinking by up to seven per cent during pregnancy, scientists have now found that it later expands, enabling new mums to cope better with stress and acquire improved management skills.

This news will be of NO surprise to mothers who have returned to work after a stint on maternity leave. Personally, I find I am far more motivated and productive since having children.

Here are a few ways work is different before babies vs work after babies:

New Year’s resolutions tend to be themed around caring more. Caring about your diet. Caring about going to the gym. Caring about being a better person.

But you know what could actually do you a whole lot more good? Caring less. Waaaay less.

Not about the important stuff: the things that bring you genuine happiness or take you closer to achieving your goals.

But all the stuff that – when you think about it – doesn’t really matter. You could do with caring a lot less about that. People’s opinions of you, for example. Having a ‘bikini body’. Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Make it your New Year’s resolutions to give fewer f***s. Here are some books that’ll help you along the way.

Marco and Aniyia had to deliver their own baby at home – and they lived to tell the tale (Picture: Aniyia Williams/Twitter)

Last week, San Francisco couple Marco Rogers and Aniyia Williams welcomed their baby girl into the world.

Marco is a web developer and Aniyia is the founder and CEO of a startup called Tinsel. In other words, they don’t have medical backgrounds.

That is important because Aniyia had a surprise home birth. And Marco was the one who delivered the baby.

Yesterday, the hero dad took to Twitter to recount the whole birth, moment by moment, in sometimes terrifying, often sweary, always graphic, detail.

His story begins simply enough: ‘So it’s time to tell… Read the full story

Some of us are better at hiding it than others. But deep down, most of us have it in us to be a bitch.

Maybe it’s because you’re sad, you’ve been dumped, or you’re hangry.

Whatever the reason, people are going to know about it.

Heck, these days channeling our inner Mean Girl isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Doctors are even encouraging women to embrace their inner bitch to be happy.

How about making them into an artistic masterpiece?

Seriously. Save time with paint and plaster and frame that ugly mark. It seriously does look pretty cool.
