Cleaning For A Reason is offering free house cleaning to all women undergoing treatment for any type of cancer.

The goal is to take away the worry and work of cleaning their homes to allow them to focus on their health and treatment – completely free of charge.

Founder Debbie Sardone had the idea when a potential client at her old cleaning company called to tell her she couldn’t afford her services while undergoing cancer treatment.

Debbie had not taken down the client’s contact details so was unable to call back to make arrangement.

In that instant, Debbie decided no woman undergoing cancer treatment would ever be turned away by her business. Instead, she vowed to offer them her services free of charge.

In 2005, when sharing her story at a national cleaning industry convention, many cleaning business owners showed their interest and support.

From that, a non-profit organisation was created.

Sarah-Jane McIntosh says her Fitbit saved her life (Picture: North West News/ Getty Images)

We knew there was a reason we wanted a Fitbit for Christmas.

You know, other than the ability to obsessively count the steps we walk in order to convince ourselves we’re being fit and healthy.

Yeah, turns out they do more than just track how much sleep you’ve had and the calories you’ve burned that day.

These clever little gadgets might even save your life.

It sounds a bit far-fetched, sure, but 18-year-old Sarah-Jayne McIntosh credits the device for doing just that.

Can you guess which of these hot dogs is real and which is a drawing?

Howard Lee is an artist from Aberystwyth, Wales, who is completely confusing the internet with his drawing of a hot dog.

The drawing is so realistic that when placed next a real hot-dog, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between the two.

Posting a video of his comparison to YouTube, titled Hot Dog Drawing Challenge, Lee shows his audience exactly how his art-piece was created, alongside revealing the secret to which hot-dog is real.

We’re just completely astounded as to how he went from this:

Then you might want to consider spending your Valentine’s Day at Hogwarts.

This year, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour is hosting a romantic candlelit Valentine’s banquet in the famous Great Hall.

Couples will be greeted with canapés and welcome drinks on arrival – including something called a Love Potion.

Then, they’ll be seated at candlelit tables of two and treated to a three-course meal, which includes an assiette of desserts to share (because sharing dessert is a true test of any relationship).

Hot men and droids (Picture: HotGuysHoldingBB8/Tumblr)

It’s like the man and baby Athena poster from the 80s, but so much better.

Because instead of a baby, these pictures show ridiculously good looking men snuggling with everyone’s favourite little heartbreaker: new Star Wars droid BB8.

The ‘Hot Guys Holding BB8‘ Tumblr page was created by Entertainment Weekly writer Marc Snetiker and it’s a story of boy meets droid. With bad Photoshopping (Marc’s words, not ours).

Some may ask why. We ask why no Leonardo DiCaprio?

Warning: these pictures will awaken your force.

Chris Hemsworth just wants to protect the little droid.

Being able to roll out of bed and go to work in your pajamas is the dream.

But for some reason, something to do with society’s silly conventions, this has been largely viewed as an unacceptable practice.

With the exception of the guy who pulled off wearing the suit onesie to work for a week, there’s been a sad lack of nightwear in our offices.

Start-up company Lunya is set to change all that, which is music to the ears of people who love PJs more than life.

Introducing: The most focused cat of all time

This cat has probably got more concentration skills than any human could ever wish to have.

Although the video doesn’t make it too clear as to what he’s looking at – he seems to be gazing thoughtfully into the sky – we are sure that whatever it is he’s got his eye on is extremely important and in absolutely no way should (or could) his concentration be hindered.

We’re quite surprised that his owner’s constant poking and giggling – as the kitty so desperately kept his eyes on whatever the prize was – wasn’t too aggravating for the poor thing.

He remained calm and collected as his owner tried desperately to deter his concentration away from the sky.

XX things you SHOULD say to someone with depression (Picture: Mmuffin) Monika
The smallest things can make the biggest difference. (Picture: Mmuffin for Metro)

Depression is hard to live with, hard to explain and hard to understand if you’ve never suffered it before.

And until recent years it’s been a subject that’s been ignored at best and shamed at worse.

Which can make finding the right words to talk to someone with depression extremely difficult.

Everyone who has lived with the illness has a unique experience and different ways of coping.

But from my personal experience, these are the things people said to me that really helped:

1. You deserve help

Dog goggles are a thing (Picture: rswatski/Flickr)

Watch out guys, dog sunglasses are now a thing. Because dogs want to look cool too, okay?

Obviously, there is more reasoning behind these dog-goggles than just the ability to look cool. And it’s actually not just so you can hang out on the beach with your best friend.

It all started when two dog lovers, Jesse and Aiden, were given the awful news that one of their dogs had a serious eye condition.

They were told by their vet that they would either have to limit their dogs’ time in the sun, or find some sort of dog goggle.

They didn’t realise… Read the full story

There we were thinking we held all the cards on Tinder, swiping left and right with gleeful abandon.

Tinder CEO Sean Rad has revealed that the dating app has a hidden ranking system, which is used to generate better matches.

Everyone with a Tinder profile has a secret ‘desirability score’. The score, which the folks at Tinder call an Elo score (a term used in chess to rank player skill levels), is determined using a complex algorithm.

We need Luke to hurry back ASAP, because it looks like we’ve got a young Sith Lord in the making.

First up, this baby favours the colour red for his onesie, and we know that Sith Lords like red lightsabers. This can’t be a coincidence.

But most importantly, when he is overwhelmed with fear and can’t help but cry, it’s not the light of the force that soothes him.

Nope, it’s Darth Vader’s theme tune that settles this baby down.

Well it’s 2016, officially the year of the sex robot.

If you’re reading this in 2016, you should probably know that this is the year inventors get serious about sex robots and scientists admit ‘love and sex with robots are inevitable’.

Artist re-imagines superheroes as poop. Yes, really

Over the past year we’ve seen many a re-imagined Disney character, but rarely a re-imagined superhero.

But this artist didn’t re-imagine them into any old thing. No, he re-imagined them as poop. Yep, you read that right.

Illustrator Toshib Bagde was hit with the realization that most of the favored comic book superheroes were actually just human beings with powers and he wondered what their poop might look like.

A common thought, we know.

Instead of just shrugging the idea off, he took it to a whole other level by creating his own quirky series titled ‘Superheroes Poop Lab’.

The series features ‘rare poop samples’, as he calls them, of various superheroes including Thor and The Incredible Hulk.

According to the illustrator, he tried to illustrate poop in the most decent and cutest way possible – even giving them nicknames. How thoughtful.

Touch wood
Apologies

You’ve probably done it thousands of times. You know, made an inappropriate joke about the plane going down and then touched wood just in case.

But why do we touch wood, or knock on wood, to ward off bad luck?

The phrase is relatively modern – the oldest citation for the British version of the phrase ‘touch wood’ dates from 1850, when it was used in the academic correspondence magazine Notes and Queries. This predates the American ‘knock on wood’ expression.

And there are a few theories as to how it came about.
