You still can’t eat *all* the cake (Picture: Getty)

At risk of sounding like the biggest humblebragger in the world, I, like many others, have a nasty (and accidental) habit of losing weight. I am one of those awful ‘high metabolism’ people, which, in the grand scheme of things, I’m very grateful for.

But it has its seriously inconvenient moments. If you also struggle to keep your weight up, here are some things you’ll know.

1. Stress makes you lose weight

For most people, stress sends them straight to the biscuit tin. For you, stress just makes your ribs visible.

2. You’re cold all the damn time

With the recent news that North East bakery chain – and king of delicious but heartburn inducing treats – Greggs is going gluten free, all we could really think about is how much we fancied a Greggs.

There are many treats to be found in one of the outlets (of which there are approximately three per street in Tyneside, we guess) from sandwiches and soups to desserts and THOSE SPRINKLED DOUGHNUTS.

They’re for another day though. Our mouths are salivating at the thought of a good savoury pastry from Greggs and we thought it was time… Read the full story

MaryAnn Parisi said she suspected her 11-year-old adopted son Michael was being bullied, but on Monday was alerted by one of his teachers that it had worsened.

Which is when she decided to write her message on Facebook, to show the bullies what Michael had been through just to make it to school every day.

‘Maybe knowing his background is the difference,’ she wrote. ‘Even the best children have moments of insecurity and weakness.… Read the full story

A mum from Kent has tweeted her despair after her son brought home a note from school about upcoming spelling tests, which was littered with spelling mistakes.

Mum-of-two Amanda shared a picture of the note pasted into her son’s homework book by his teacher, which explained that Year 6 pupils would need to complete a spelling test as part of their SATs exams.

Therefore, for homework each week, the school would be sending home six words and asking parents to help their children learn the correct spelling.

Unfortunately, the school had failed to spell all six words correctly themselves.

‘My son has spellings from school that they want him to learn. I’m currently holding my head… Read the full story

Desperate to get away from it all? Airbnb has a treehouse for that (Picture: Airbnb)

Apparently, we all just want to get away from it all and live in a treehouse.

For a week or so at least.

Airbnb has released a list of its top 10 most wish listed rental properties and four of them are treehouses. Also making up the most wanted list are a ‘seashell’ house in Isla Mujeres, Mexico and a Pirates of the Caribbean getaway in California that boasts indoor waterfalls and pools (but doesn’t allow parties. Sorry).

And as well as treehouses, the list reveals that we’re pretty fond of bedding down in igloos, vans, lighthouses and… Read the full story

He’s the imam at the Aziz Mahmud Hüdayi Mosque in Istanbul’s historic Üsküdar district  and is known for his ‘good-humor and diligence’, The Daily Sabah reports.

But it’s his love of cats that’s got everyone getting all misty eyed.

Instead of chasing felines out of the mosque, he welcomes them in with open arms, calling them his ‘Friday friends’.

It’s a well known fact that pizza’s great.

But Joseph Stalin? Not so much, with his reign noted for the oppression, deaths and starvation of millions of Russians.

So it’s hardly surprising that people weren’t just mystified, but extremely pissed off, when Papa John’s in Russia decided ‘Joseph Stalin’ would make a great code for a pizza discount.

Ilya Klishin, editor-in-chief at TV channel Rain, was one of the first to point out how insensitive it was on Facebook.

Klishin wrote: ‘Papa John’s Pizza has introduced a Josef Stalin promotion code.… Read the full story
