As we all know, a picture can paint a thousand words.

How do you even begin to explain what it means to child who’s spent years in foster care to finally find their adoptive family? It’s impossible. So, one American charity – Together We Rise – is using pictures to express everything they can’t.

For the last two years, the non-profit charity, which provides support for children living in foster care, has been sharing pictures of children celebrating their adoption on its Instagram page.

We’re all aware that break-ups suck. There’s no denying it.

Even when you end on good terms, there’s still that niggling feeling of sadness that takes a little while to get over.

Most mature people, however, are okay with that. You deal with it, you move on. It’s just life.

That’s not how it works for one guy though who, after being told by a girl he had seen a few times that she no longer wanted to date him, just couldn’t hold it together.

And things got seriously nasty.

Reddit user shesquatchy had messaged the guy to let him know how she felt.

She even apologised in case he thought she had misled him

There are certain things which definitely get better with age. Wine is one of them, men, another.

Fortunately, for the majority of men, a grey hair here, a love handle there, simply adds to their sliver fox appeal.

But when it comes to relationships, people often consider mixed-age relationships to be bad news, that people who are within a similar age bracket have a higher likelihood of maintaining a successful relationship.

However, this isn’t always the case. From old-school manners to life experience, here’s 10 reasons why older men make the best boyfriends.

1. They’re hot

throne-of-lies

Have you ever told a lie that’s gotten so out of hand that it’s become a part of your life?

Maybe you told your friend you loved their hideous fashion sense and they keep offering you clothes you no longer need. Or perhaps you told your parents something that even though is not true, you can’t seem to live it down.

But don’t worry, you’re not alone. It turns out lots of people have told some rather silly porkies, and they’re talking about it over on Reddit.

One person revealed how they once told a truly regrettable lie that ended up becoming a dreaded hobby

‘When I was about 5 I remember being in the bathroom and brushing my teeth.

‘My mum was there and berated me for something. Later, being a sensitive child, I was crying in bed about it.

‘My parents came in all concerned and my mum asked: “was it because I yelled at you… Read the full story

A confused mother has become an internet sensation after she misunderstood a picture request.

Having been in touch with her car insurance company, Susan was asked to send them some front, side and rear photos.

Susan didn’t quite understand the request and, instead of taking pictures of the car, she took pictures of herself.

Perhaps an easy mistake to make?

Her daughter, Miranda Santos, uploaded the photos to Twitter, which saw Susan posing for the front, side and rear photos she thought had been requested of her personally.

So you’ve shunned the country club package deal and are going it alone with the wedding planning.

Sure, it’s exciting, and along the way you’ll pick up plenty of handy new skills, but when people tell you planning a DIY wedding is easy and ‘the best thing you’ll ever do’, they’re definitely lying.

Here are 13 things you should know before planning a DIY wedding…

1. It’s still really expensive

John Travolta

We probably do it several times a week. You get up to go somewhere and when you get to your destination, you have no idea what you’re there for.

Sometimes, it comes back to you. A lot of the time it doesn’t, and you just have to accept whatever great idea you had will be lost in the mists of time forever.

There’s nothing researchers can do about that, but they have retraced our steps and worked out what causes it.

Turns out, it’s the door’s fault. Also known as the ‘boundary effect’.

John Travolta 2

The doorway acts as an ‘event boundary’, signalling to our brain that one memory episode is finished and another can begin. Sort of like stopping and starting the tape.

Researchers at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana came up with the theory after getting volunteers to play a not-so-fun video game.

What do your split ends say about you? (Picture: Getty)

Hands up if you’ve wasted a significant portion of your life closely examining your split ends one by one.

Yeah, we’re with you.

They’re a massive pain, a source of heartbreak when you’re trying to grow your hair out, and an addictive thing to peel and analyse.

But in all our obsessing, it turns out there’s one thing we’ve been missing: there are actually six types of split end, and each of them reveals a specific thing about the health of your hair – as explained by Living Proof’s Eric Spengler and Cosmopolitan.

We know. Mind. Blown.

In the last twelve years, Rodrigo Alves, 32, has now undergone 42 different cosmetic operations and spent over £300,000 to transform himself into a human Ken doll.

But all that tinkering has taken a serious toll on his body.

He’s now relying on the NHS to build him a new nose, after a seventh nose job in February led to complications, which left him struggling to breathe.

Last week, Rodrigo, who lives in London, was rushed to hospital in Malaga, Spain, after a hole appeared in his nose and his new septum became loose.

Stop this. (Picture: Instagram/hudabeauty)

Look. I get it. Makeup is an art form and I genuinely marvel at anyone who’s capable of being able to sculpt their face while I flail around and smear foundation all over my face.

But I think this is my actual breaking point. This is too much.

Makeup guru Huda Kattan has just debuted her new technique for contouring: using a ruler to get the perfect sculpting effect.

And I mean no offence to Huda here – she is truly a makeup genius and I bow down to her skills.

We are, of course, talking about the moment the bride takes her carefully made, beautifully arranged bouquet and flings it over her shoulder at all the single ladies, who eagerly wait to catch it and ensure their future loved up happiness.

Serena Williams has been included in People’s annual Most Beautiful issue, which is, well, hardly surprising.

But it seems she still wasn’t quite beautiful enough for their accompanying shoot.

Yes, being a supreme athlete with the awesome physique to match still doesn’t protect you from the evils of the airbrush.

Serena’s fans were left fuming after the magazine appeared to have Photoshopped her waist to make it slimmer in its May issue.

After she shared the picture with her three million followers, writing ‘@people mag most beautiful 2016,’ along with a fist pump emoji, it was met with a volley of complaints.

Celebrate! It’s National Stationery Week!

Now it might not warrant a whole week of awareness but stationery is a big deal. Despite living in what can be described as a digital age many of us still get a thrill from paper products, pens and little desk tools that make writing and working more pleasurable.

If like me you have bit of a thing about stationery you might recognise one or two of the following (ball) points:

1. The spiral binding of your new exercise book fits your finger perfectly.

2. Your tongue salivates slightly before licking a fresh new envelope, the taste of that glue…

3. New Post-It colours are the cause of great excitement. The pastel range? The… Read the full story

If there’s one thing that will last forever, it’s your love for tea.

‘Cause it’s always there for you. When you’re happy and want to celebrate with a cuppa. When you’re sad and need its comforting warmth.

Tea has seen you on your worst days and shared your joy on your best. And that is why it is deserving of your love – and a gesture honouring that everlasting bond.

No, not marriage (although that would be bloody lovely, imagine coming home to a giant cup of tea up for giving you a spoon every night. Glorious).
