Happy National Teacher’s Day, everyone!

As society celebrates you for the differences you make to the lives of children, it’s nice to get some recognition for what is a very tough job.

But you know that there is so much about the role that those who have never been at the chalkface don’t realise.

From having favourite students (sorry, but we do) and avoiding the dreaded cover lesson through to the art of a good seating plan and the joy of a DVD lesson, the life of a teacher is pretty complicated.

As teachers can nod along with the things about their job that they… Read the full story

The dream dress? (Picture: TIMOTHY A. CLARY/AFP/Getty Images)

Claire Danes lit up the red carpet at last night’s Met Gala in New York. Literally.

The theme of the night was ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology’ and, at first, Danes’ full-skirted ball gown seemed to have slightly missed the mark.

The strapless ice blue fairytale gown by Zac Posen looked a little too safe when she first glided down the red carpet.

But then she got inside and it actually glowed in the dark.

Yes, Cinders did go to the Met Ball. And it was everything.

Of course, it was the total Disney cliche, but sometimes that’s alright.

Sometimes, we just want the fairytale.

In case you missed it, the biggest fashion event of the year happened last night – and it was just as bonkers as always.

This year’s Met Gala theme was Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. So, um, robots and stuff.

The majority of celebs interpreted this as wearing lots of metal, sparkly stuff, and general toughness. Apart from Claire Danes, who rocked a Cinderella style… Read the full story

Kit Kat Japan just launched a limited edition melon and mascarpone cheese Kit Kat and people think they’ve lost their minds.

But take a break for a moment and consider this – it may not be as crazy as it sounds. It’s basically like melon cheesecake drizzled in white chocolate.

And, let’s face it, it’s certainly no stranger than Jacket Potato flavour. Which is a thing that exists.

The arrival of the new Hokkaido Melon with Mascarpone Cheese Kit Kat was announced on Twitter at the end of last month and is now available at Japanese airports.

At the end of April, Shelby Bonnie was on his way from San Francisco to the Bahamas when he misplaced his iPad.

He had just caught his connecting flight at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport when he realised his iPad was missing. He believes he might have put it down in the airport when he was rearranging the contents of his hand-luggage.

So begins one man’s epic quest to find his missing tablet.

It’s a story about loss, about never giving up hope and, ultimately about finding yourself. Well, your iPad. But whatever.

Hopped out of the shower, now what? (Picture: Getty)

So we’ve covered everything you need to know about washing your vagina – but what do you do next?

Turns out – shocker – that sitting around in a towel contemplating your existence for half an hour isn’t the right answer.

Jason James, the medical director of Miami’s FemCare, explained to Glamour that it’s very, very important that you gently dry the outer parts of your vagina with your towel before you put on your clothes.

No, really. It’s very important. No rushing around throwing on your pants when you’re still a bit damp.

People are now contouring their feet. Of course.

Foot contouring is a thing. We despair. (Picture: Instagram/LiveGlam)

Just when we were starting to hope that the contouring trend would die down. Just when we were this close to believing that using a ruler to contour would be crazy enough to stop this madness in its tracks.

Foot contouring is here. We have learnt to never dream again.

Live Glam – the same people behind bum contouring – can count themselves responsible for bringing foot contouring into the world.

They shared a tutorial on their Instagram, showing a makeup artist gently painting bronzer and concealer on to a model’s toes to make her feet look more sleek and sculpted.

Our heart rates actually sync with our dog’s (Picture: Getty)

According to a new study, the bond between an owner and their dog is so strong, their hearts actually beat as one.

An Australian research team found that when a dog and an owner spend time together, their heart rates not only fall, but begin to beat in sync.

Which proves that, not only is having a dog good for our hearts, it’s good for theirs too.

For the study, which was sponsored by Pedigree, three dog owners were separated from their dogs and then later reunited. Both humans and dogs were fitted with heart monitors to see how their heart rates were affected.

If you’ve ever struggled with it, you’ll know that dandruff is bloody annoying.

It’s itchy and uncomfortable. It ruins your chances of rocking an effortlessly cool all-black wardrobe.

But why do we get dandruff? And why are some people more plagued by it than others? It’s a bit of a head-scratcher.

Dr. Rolanda J. Wilkerson, Principal Scientist at Head & Shoulders, explained to Yahoo! that dandruff is down to two things

The first is a type of fungus that lives on the scalp, called malassezia furfur. Everyone has it.

Nearly all of us have to face up to it at some point – no matter how much of our childhood we spent longing to break free from the prison that is the parents’ house, when the time comes, it’s one of the biggest of life’s challenges.

Goodbye childhood, hello independence. Goodbye safety, hello responsibility. Goodbye family, hello homesickness.

Yep, as exciting as this new era of your life can be, there is no denying that leaving the comfort of home can be a terrible wrench – especially if you are going a fair distance.

If Instagram is anything to go by (yes, it is), nature-inspired tattoos are having a major comeback.

Take a look. All over the internet you’ll find gorgeous watercolour flower designs, tiny cacti, detailed trees.

But no nature tattoos are quite as stunning as those created by Ukrainian tattoo artist Rita Zolotukhina (AKA Rit Kit on Instagram).

Rita uses real leaves and flowers to design true-to-life tattoos. She dips her found leaf or flower in stencil ink, places it on her client’s skin, then traces the impression with her tattoo gun.

The results are stunning.

In my case, type 1 means I experience long periods of extreme mania and short periods of extreme lows.

I’d been receiving care from mental health services since the age of 15 and I finally received this diagnosis at the age of 20.

Meet Goh Gwek Eng. She lives in Singapore. She has five children, 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-granchildren.

Oh, and she’s 92 years old – making her McDonald’s oldest employee.

Goh has been working at a McDonald’s branch in Bedok Interchange, Singapore, for the last 18 years. She started working at the restaurant back in 1998 after her children had moved out of the family home.

‘Now that most of them are working or have their own families, the house is very quiet,’ she told the Straits Times. So she headed out and landed a job at a McDonald’s 20 minutes away from her house, where she’s been working ever since.

When it comes to online conversation, you’d think a simple hello would be enough to spark up a conversation.

And, if you’re not interested, a goodbye would surely do the trick.

Not for this guy, who became incredibly rude and aggressive towards a girl who called him out for Photoshopping his muscles in his profile photo on Facebook.

Sure, there was no need to point out the photo-editing of his muscles – if they were edited, that is.

But the way he acted afterwards will certainly raise an eyebrow or two

As relaxing and restorative as a Sunday afternoon spent digging and planting may be, we still don’t tend to consider gardening as a hobby that’s particularly ‘cool’.

Which is a crying shame, really. It’s exactly what anyone in need of a digital detox is after. You develop new skills. You get the fulfillment of actually growing something and keeping it alive.

It’s all kind of magical, especially when you consider the joy of a fancy greenhouse you can retreat to whenever you please. Just look at these…

Well, that didn’t take long.

Just a couple of weeks ago, our eyes were opened to the amazing technicolour beauty of Hong Kong eaterie Kala Toast’s rainbow cheese toasties.

And this week they landed in London, courtesy of travelling toastie van Grill My Cheese.

The toastie van has been selling the rainbow grilled cheese special at its Leather Lane location today to celebrate its third birthday.

Contrary to popular belief, the cheese isn’t made from unicorn tears, or spun from sunshine and showers.

The flavour and colour actually comes from a mix of beetroot, rocket, roasted onion, goats’… Read the full story
