Don’t stress if you’ve been too busy to take a look at every single pretty outfit from Cannes Film Festival as it happened.

Not that you would. There are bigger things to stress out over. But if you happen to have a niggling concern at the back of your mind, questioning how you can possibly go on without seeing what famous people wore on a red carpet, we’ve done you a favour and put… Read the full story

Cheers to that. (Picture: Baileys/metro.co.uk)

You guys. We have a very important announcement.

Baileys, AKA the Christmas present your aunt always gives you, the cosiest drink in the world, or that alcohol that’s basically a dessert, is now available for vegans (and anyone else who can’t deal with dairy) to enjoy.

Yup, vegan Baileys now exists and is available for purchase.

New Baileys Almande is made with a mix of sweet almond oil, almond essence, cane sugar, purified water, and vanilla. It’s vegan, as we’ve mentioned, and also gluten-free.

The friendship paradox: Why all of your friends have more friends than you

Your BFFs are more popular than you. (Picture: Getty)

Ever noticed that while you’re chilling at home feeling a bit lonely, all your friends are out having fun with the massive group of people they suddenly seem to know?

Turns out you’re not paranoid or bitter. It’s true. All your friends really do have more friends than you do. The bitches.

See, science confirms the existence of something called the friendship paradox. It’s a weird pattern coined in 1991 by sociologist Scott Feld, who discovered, while studying the structure of social networks, that somehow everyone is less popular than their friends.

Which shouldn’t make sense. But it does. Hear us out.

19 healthy colourful salads and snacks that prove rainbows aren’t just for bagels

Yum. (Picture: Instagram/clean_body_)

Look, the rainbow food trend is great. We love it. It’s very pretty.

But there’s a downside to all the rainbow bagels, coffee, and sushi filling up our Instagram streams. They’re FULL of food colouring. And probably don’t taste that great as a result.

And it’s kind of weird that we’re losing our minds over artificially coloured rainbow foods, given that there’s already loads of food that’s naturally rainbow coloured out there in existence.

We’re talking bright green avocado, pops of strawberry red, zingy orange carrots, and pink watermelons.

Trust us – these healthy rainbow salads and snacks are so much better than queuing up for an… Read the full story

This is what having a water birth is really like. (Picture: Erin Shepley Photography)

Giving birth is an intense, intimate, and truly beautiful thing.

But it’s also deeply personal. It’s not something we often get to witness first hand, and if we do, it’s usually a shaky video of our mums breathing in gas and air in a hospital bed as our dads urge them to keep pushing.

So alternative labour experiences aren’t the ones we see. Home births happen, well, in someone’s home. They’re private, and we respect that.

But taking a look at the experience of giving birth can help us… Read the full story

World Goth Day 2016: 14 thoughts every former 90s goth will recognise

worldgothday

Grab your candle studded wrist band because today is World Goth Day 2016.

It is a day when we can fondly remember steel-capped boots, smudged black eyeliner and chokers with the love of a first born child.

Yep, while the 1980s had punk rockers – the nineties was all about the goths before emos and ‘scene’ kids waltzed in during the naughties.

And in the spirit of a little nostalgia, here are 14 thoughts you will definitely recognise if you were a goth in the 90s.

1. High school was a harder time for you than most. No one understood you. Everyone thought you practiced magic spells (you sometimes tried) and worshiped Satan.

2. The indignity of having to do PE with back combed hair and a full face of makeup was indescribable. Not to mention the risk of getting a tan from being outdoors for too long, and having to take off your… Read the full story

Where did all the fishnet stockings go?

What about the incense wafting through shopping centres and WTF happened to Death Cigarettes?

Yes, if you’ve been wondering these things today, your inner goth from the 80s is probably still strong.

While the punks preened their mohawks, you practiced your death stare at people who made Halloween jokes (it’s not original or funny, okay?).

There are common misconceptions surrounding what to expect when you have a friend or partner with bipolar disorder.

Of course, everyone suffers and deals with bipolar differently, and there are many different types on the spectrum, with Type 1 and 2 being most common.

Type 1 bipolar disorder means you have more extreme mood swings with longer periods of mania.

Type 2 usually means you have more low periods.

Of course, neither type is necessarily ‘better’ or ‘worse’ than another and everyone with the disorder will have experience what they deem to be the ‘worst part’ of the disorder at some point or another.

However, while everyone with the disorder… Read the full story

When people say they want to cut down on sugar, it’s usually their waistline that they’re thinking of.

But eating too much sugar affects your body in all sorts of ways that might surprise you.

And by ‘too much sugar’, we mean more than six teaspoons per day. That means just one can of fizzy drink could push you over the limit.

If that seems unfair, then the side-effects of too much sugar are far worse. Here are some of the most surprising ones.

Your body will stop telling you when you’re full

how-much-does-it-cost-to-live-in-a-new-city

The brother of Reddit user kgfromthemv recently had a rock climbing accident that saw him break his neck, back and ankle.

9-year-old boy pens heartbreaking letter to NHS about suffering with depression

For those of us in the UK, this would mean a traumatic ordeal for us and our loved ones and a lengthy time away from work.

But for this American guy, there was an added worry of cost.

After two operations and a week in hospital, which saw him being charged for things such as anesthesia and recovery itself, one glance at the final medical bill would have been enough to make anyone’s heart stop.

One person who totally agreed, was the guy’s brother, who posted it to Reddit to show just how much money the accident cost.

Yes, you read it right.

That’s $367,435, or £253,797.
