Please exclude me from your narrative (Picture: Getty)

Wherever you stand on the whole Kimye vs. Swift Snap wars, there is one thing we can all thank Taylor for – we now have the perfect get-out for any awkward conversation.

After Kim leaked the recording of a phone conversation between Kanye and Taylor about Ye’s single Famous, Taylor responded with some (possibly pre-prepared) notes in a post entitled ‘That moment when Kanye West secretly records your phone call, then Kim posts it on the Internet.’

At the very end, she signed off with this: ‘I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to… Read the full story

Fancy a night in Switzerland's new 'concept' hotel? Null Stern Hotel_Land version.JPG
Did they forget something? (Picture: Null Stern)

It’s the hotel version of The Emperor’s New Clothes.

Welcome to the newest venture from Swiss conceptual hoteliers Frank and Patrik Riklin. The Null Stern ‘concept’ hotel takes the minimal aesthetic to the absolute extreme by doing away with the roof, the walls and the standard hotel amenities we’ve come to expect, like a toilet – the nearest loo is 10 miles down the road.

What it does offer is spectacular views, 6,463 feet above sea level in the middle of the Swiss Alps.

And a cosy looking double bed, with bedside tables and lamps. Plus, you get your own… Read the full story

Beer purists rejoice. You could soon be enjoying a proper pint while cruising at 35,000 feet.

We haven’t managed to get air conditioning on Tube trains, but we may soon have beer on tap on planes. Because, you know, priorities.

After years of tinkering, Heineken believes it can now pour a successful pint straight from the keg and KLM Airlines are set to start serving it up on selected flights from the beginning of August.

The process hasn’t been easy though, not least because they’re still awaiting the necessary safety sign-off from civil aviation authorities.

The wasabi you’re eating might not actually be wasabi

Nope. (Picture: Getty)

Everything is a lie. Trust no food item. Trust nothing.

Following the deeply disturbing revelation that the parmesan we’re liberally sprinkling over our pasta might not actually be parmesan, we momentarily lost our faith in all delicious food.

But then we ate some pasta, covered it in our possibly-fake cheese, and pushed that knowledge to the back of our mind, where we’d never have to deal with it again.

Ah, ignorance. It really is delicious, cheesy bliss.

But pretending everything’s okay can’t last forever. The American Chemical Society has released a new video with the sole purpose of shattering our belief in the food we eat. And it’s totally worked.

There’s a really easy way to make your dates less awkward (and it involves food)

Simple. (Picture: Getty)

Look, we all know that dates are unbearably awkward. The only reason we bother is to quiet the tiny voice inside us yelling that we’re going to die alone, surrounded by empty jars of peanut butter and unwashed dishes.

They’re an uncomfortable, anxiety-causing necessity. We power through, enjoy a nice dinner that we hardly eat because of our nerves, and desperately hope that the rubbish small talk eventually evolves into something resembling comfortable conversation.

Turns out there’s a way to make the whole process a little easier. And it involves food, so we’re interested.

So appetising (Picture: Dr Pimple Popper/Facebook)

We didn’t think we’d ever lose our appetite for cake, but it may have just happened.

Maybe.

Even some of the people who secretly love to watch those viral Dr. Pimple Popper videos are turning their noses up at these hyper-realistic bakes – created for the famous spot-popper Dr Sandra Lee herself by California bakery Blessed by Baking.

It’s probably got something to do with the edible ‘pus’ centre. Yes, squeeze these little cakes and bright yellow custard or lemon curd erupts from the inflamed red centres.

Sorry. (Picture: Getty/metro.co.uk/Myles Goode)

Dog people, we’re sorry. Apologies to cat people, too.

Scientists have worked out which animals actually make the best pets, and neither cats nor dogs even make the top 25. Whoa.

Researchers ranked 90 species of animals by their basic biology, needs, the danger they pose to humans, and how well they actually do when kept in captivity.

So the best pet rankings really aren’t to do with preference, but which pets will actually be happiest in your home.

The results are pretty surprising. Dogs, cats, and bunny rabbits are nowhere to be seen in the… Read the full story

In the millennia that humans have been around, we’ve gone from animal skin-clad hunter gatherers to the latte-swigging, social media addicts we are today.

Despite all the adaptations our bodies have made to accommodate modern life, we still share more with our ancestors than you might think.

We might reckon we’ve moved way beyond our Homo habilis roots but our bodies still have a number of the calling signs from nearly literally forever ago:

Goosebumps

We get them when we’re cold or frightened in similar way to our furry ancestors – who developed them to appear larger when threatened.

If only waking up to the sounds from outside really did happen the way it does in Disney films.

Arms stretched out around perfectly positioned hair, with the sounds of birds singing around you.

What do we get instead? Loud noises from cars, trains and, worst of all, the sound of industrial machinery.

We know you’re doing your job but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to scream every time we’re woken up from a peaceful slumber to the sound of machinery and drills.

But one company who totally understand our pain have made an effort to apologise in advance, setting a brilliant example for the labour force all over.

Dealing with social media after a breakup is hard, especially if you’ve shared your relationship online.

Do you delete all evidence of your relationship? Post a public announcement on Facebook to explain that your love has died and you’re not accepting any questions at this time? Do you just quietly change your relationship to ‘single’?

It’s tough. But one girl may have come up with the best way to handle the awkwardness.

There is a truth universally acknowledged that to get over someone you’ve got to get under another.

But one psychologist is calling bullsh*t on this age old philosophy.

Paulette Kouffman Sherman, PSY.D., author of Dating from the Inside Out, says although there’s no finite time period, you’re best off waiting at least a month before jumping back into that fishy sea.

She tells Glamour that ‘most people need a month or two to process the breakup, to mourn and to integrate lessons before jumping back in if they were in a fairly serious relationship.’
