Get ready for leopard print, twerking and…bowls competitions.

A team of brave and remarkably bendy pensioners have filmed a tribute to Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off.

And it’s probably better than the original.

The participants are residents from Julia Wallace Retirement Village in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

50 hip-hopping residents took part, along their grandchildren and side residential staff, who all spent a week making the video back in April.

The participants, according to the video, have an average age of 82 and a combined age of more than 4,000 years.

The group behind the video say: ‘These retirees proved you’re never too old to Shake It Off… Read the full story

After being stood up by a Tinder date at the last minute, instead of giving up and moping indoors, this mum decided to take herself out on a self-date.

She also shared updates from her fabulous date on Facebook.

Laura Bull, 31, from Queensland, who’s mum to an 11-month-old and four-year-old, hopes her ‘self-date’ will inspire other mums to get out there and take a little time for themselves once in a while.

It’s man v fire (Picture: Getty)

There’s something about barbecues – or rather, there’s something about barbecues and men.

Guys who haven’t a clue how the oven works suddenly become cooking experts, attempting to grill T-bones when they’ve previously struggled to make toasties.

Here are 18 reasons why every man wants to be the BBQ king.

1. We’re all big bloody show-offs

Barbecuing isn’t cooking.

It’s performance art featuring carefully chosen costumes (the apron! The BBQ mitt!) with a powerful message: look at me! I’ve got a fire!

2. Fire!

There’s something primal about standing in front of a fire, waving chunks of dead animal around.

Every man thinks the same: I look pretty awesome right now.

3. It’s a system, not a steak

When you realise 1996 was actually TWO decades ago.

Welcome to the moment you suddenly realise you’re getting old – and there’s a whole new generation who don’t even remember CD Walkmans, or dial-up broadband.

Welcome to the #YouKnowYoureTooOld hashtag, where people born in the 80s and early 90s have been coming to terms with the fact that they’re no longer the newest kids on the block (and, no, no one remembers New Kids On The Block either).

Kylie Jenner’s lips have become something of an urban legend. How did she get them to be so full? How does she get them so matte and perfect? Where did she find those colours?

So it’s no wonder the whole world (or at least, its teenage population) lost its goddamn mind when she released her lip kits.

But the backlash has begun.

Beauty vloggers have started to review the products and it’s not exactly coming up roses for the makeup mogul.

Having a best mate might seem priceless – but surprisingly, it’s not. Maintaining a close friendship comes with a pretty hefty price tag.

The great British heatwave, as fleeting as it may be, always causes the British to go red.

All we’ve been left with are the memories, and a painful, blistering sunburn reminding you of all the fun in the sun you had.

How distressing is it to find that your perfectly winged eyeliner has smudged all over your eyes just hours after leaving the house?

Well here are nine tips for keeping your makeup on throughout these steamy days.

If you’re prone to tears and are worried that it might put potential suitors off, think again.

Because there are people who are actually turned on by the sight of your blubbering.

Dacryphilia is where people get off on the sight and sound of crying and the shedding of tears.

But…what does this even mean?

These three best friends have matching tattoos and there's quite a story behind them

A study into the interests of dacryphiles found that their attention focused on three main areas of crying: compassion, dominance/submission and curled lips.

Mental hospitals are often used as a basis for horror films, where awful, illegal medical treatments are played out and people are trapped in straight-jackets.

There are people who get wet from women crying

They are portrayed this way so regularly in films that it’s easy to convince the audience that this is really what happens behind the doors of a mental health unit.

But this is simply not the case.

One girl hoping to break the stigma that psychiatric units face is 20-year-old Naomi, an Irish girl who, back in June 2015, was admitted to a mental health hospital for six weeks.

Meet best mates Garth, Mike and Andy (Picture: garbagecoven/Twitter)

This is the story of three best friends – Garth, Andy and Mike (now known as ‘Stabby Mike’, for reasons that will become clear).

Although Garth only shared the dramatic tale on Twitter over the weekend, it actually begins on a random night in 2010.

It explains why the three best mates have got matching tattoos on their stomachs.

But, this isn’t your usual stag-do-gone-wrong cautionary tale; in fact, this one’s a bit of a tearjerker.

Anyway, back to that fateful night in 2010. Garth, who is based in Seattle, got a call to say one of his best friends, Mike Gosselin, had been stabbed while out… Read the full story

Grumpy Cat, the self-proclaimed ‘Grumpiest Cat in the World’, came over from the States to check out her waxwork model at Madame Tussauds.

And in between meeting her legions of fans, she took time out to visit the best that our city had to offer.

But, predictably, she wasn’t impressed.

Shauna had made a 3pm booking at the Urban Decay counter in Debenhams in Tallaght, South Dublin, in order to get professionally dolled up for her friend’s 21st birthday.

Inflammatory bowel disease is a life-long, incurable condition that affects around 1 in 250 people in the UK.

There are currently around 146,000 people in the UK living with ulcerative colitis, one of the two most prominent forms of IBD, and 115,000 with Crohn’s disease.

There are also other less common types of the disease, including collagenous colitis and lymphocytic colitis but, as the inflammation can only be seen using a microscope, they’re often referred to as microscopic colitis.

UC and Crohn’s disease, however, are easier to locate.

UC  is a condition that causes inflammation and ulceration of the inner lining of the rectum and the large bowel, while Crohn’s disease affects the… Read the full story
