Bedtime
It’s time to go the hell to sleep now (Picture: Getty)

There is nothing I would rather do at the end of a long, hard day than slip into my bed and close my eyes…

But unfortunately, my children do not feel the same way.

They will do anything to stay awake a bit longer, while I will do anything to get them to go the hell to sleep.

Here are just a few of the annoying things that will happen at bedtime.

1. Children will always want the same long, boring book. Every. Single. Night.

2. They will also ask the same questions about the same story every single night. ‘Why is Mrs Large wearing a hat in the bath’, and ‘Where is Fox’s sock?’

A Facebook page has been set up where people are posting pictures of their legs in protest at the university’s ban (Picture: Facebook)

Leg selfies are flooding social media in Algeria after a university banned a girl from taking her exam because her skirt was too short.

The ban, which prevented an unnamed law student sitting her exam because her skirt finished above the knees, has incensed students in Algeria.

However, the university has stood by its decision.

Mohamed Tahar Hadjar, the dean of the university of Algiers’ Faculty of Law told TSA Algérie: ‘Wearing a short skirt is not authorised inside the university. It’s their job to uphold the rules of the faculty, it requires a decent outfit, for both girls and boys.’

Angered by the decision, student… Read the full story

When 22-year-old Bri Johnson came out to her mum, apparently it wasn’t exactly a surprise.

In fact, her mum found the whole dramatic coming out of the closet thing pretty funny.

To show just how relaxed mum was about the whole thing, Bri posted a clip of her re-enacting it on Tumblr and it’s brilliant.

The original video was posted on Mother’s Day (May 10 in the US) and has now had over 80,000 shares.

Nathan

You’ve got to watch those Nathans and Megans.

They’re the ones most likely to cheat on you, according to a website which matches married people who’re after illicit encounters.

Gleeden.com questioned 2,003 female and 2,019 male subscribers who had looked to be unfaithful in the last year (er, surely that’s a prerequisite of joining, no?) and have come up with a totally scientific list that is undoubtedly 100 per cent accurate. Yep.

A spokeswoman said, ‘We have been able to analyse the names that are the most represented on the site.

‘With women, Megan appears to be the most unfaithful, followed by Jessica, Amy, Olivia and Rebecca.

‘The top name for men is Nathan, followed by Christopher, Charles, Anthony and Eric.’

Seriously, though, what’s in a name?

*Swipes left on all Nathans just to be safe*.

Cannes Film Festival organisers are facing a massive backlash after turning women away from the red carpet because they weren’t wearing high heels.

According to Screen Magazine, a handful of women in their 50s – some with medical conditions – were turned away from the red carpet screening of Cate Blanchett’s pro-LGBT film Carol on Sunday night because they were wearing rhinestone flats, instead of heels.

Ironically, the film, which follows the romance between an older and younger woman, is all about acceptance, and has a strong feminist message.

Festival organisers declined to comment but did confirm that high heels… Read the full story

Yes. Really – it’s a thing (Picture: HBO)

Women married to high-earning execs have signed agreements that entitle them to annual ‘wife bonuses’ if they do a good job of being a loving and committed spouse, it has been revealed.

Wednesday Martin, the author of Primates of Park Avenue, has shed light on the annual wedge that Upper East Side domestic goddesses get – but only if they’ve been very, very good – in a blog for The New York Times.

Ms Martin, who coined the tribe ‘Glam SAHMs’ (glamorous stay-at-home-moms), has revealed that these mega rich, groomed-to-within-an-inch Manhattan ladies have written remuneration agreements with their husbands.

A little extra ‘financial independence’, if you will *widens eyes*.

You know that thing where you decide to go short but then back out last minute because you know you’ll look like a boy and cry?

Here’s the test to take beforehand that will give you the answers you need.

The A-team over at John Frieda have come up with the 2.25 inch rule which, with the help of a ruler and pencil, will tell you if you suit short hair or not. Genius.

All you do is place a pencil under your chin horizontally and hold a ruler under your ear, vertically. If the intersection of the two measures less than 2.25 inches, your face is made for short hair a la Halle… Read the full story

Femojis: the emojis we need on our iPhone.

After Apple’s iOS 8.3 update back in April we got crazy excited over the 300 emojis that were added to our keyboards – cartoons in six new skin tones, same-sex relationship cartoons and 32 more country flags – but now we want these Femojis.

While we’re big advocates of diversity, we’re also big on the F word (feminism, but also f*ck) which is why these female emojis that the team at MAKERS have come up with are pure genius.

Check out what Beyonce, Lena Dunham, Taylor Swift and THE Oprah Winfrey (to name a few) look like in emoji form. Spoiler: amazing.

Inglorious fruit and Vegetables
Not a bad apple (Picture: Marcel/Design Museum )

Imperfect fruit and veg get a pretty bad rep in today’s society.

We want flawless and symmetrical. We never go for the ‘ridiculous potato’ or the ‘grotesque apple’.

And it leads to a whole heap of fruit and vegetables being discarded so that only the most perfect specimens reach the shelves.

Now a Paris ad agency hopes to reverse the fortunes of imperfect fruit and veg with a campaign promoting what they call ‘inglorious fruits & vegetables’.

Marcel Worldwide created the campaign for Intermarché, France’s third largest supermarket chain, to address the issue of food waste (which according to the European Commission sits at 100 million tonnes a year in the EU).

And PS: the graphics have… Read the full story

Jennifer Hutchinson, a 28-year-old bride-to-be from Falkirk, signed her 30-year-old fiance, Nick Hogarth, up to Groom Academy at the DoubleTree Hilton in the hope that he’d come back a domesticated dreamboat.

The course teaches things like bed-making, cooking and ironing. Because, if a guy can’t iron his own shirt something’s got to give. Immediately.
