A mother has told how she changed her daughter’s name three months after her birth because nobody could pronounce it.

Carri Kessler, from Maryland, US, and her husband Will had named their newborn baby girl Ottilie, a name Carri says she fell in love with after hearing it from a friend in the UK.

But as soon as the couple began revealing the name to people in the hospital, they were met with almost total confusion.

Instantly having baby name remorse, they Googled more names to see if they could find anything they liked as much – but they couldn’t – so they stuck with it.

They told friends and family… Read the full story

Last week, a girl realised she’d matched with two friends on Tinder and that some guys really ain’t loyal to the bro code.

Redditor iliveforlovelive later shared the rather awkward Tinder conversation online, calling it ‘a Tinder tale for the ages’.

On August 5, the girl, who lives on the US west coast, matched with a guy called Abe who was in town from New York. They had a bit of a chat about the hot weather on the west coast.

Nothing much to see here.

There’s nothing better than spending a weekend at grandma’s house.

The hilarious conversations, being spoiled rotten and the fact your granny seems to forget she’s feeding a young human and not a whale. But it’s appreciated, nonetheless.

The study involved 192 women and 105 men who were asked about all the nice stuff they did, like donating blood, giving money to charity and lending stuff to their neighbours.

They were then asked how much sex they had – both casually and with longterm lovers.

Just as we thought we couldn’t love Obama any more with his lovely face, goofy selfie-stunts and general non-Trump-like demeanor, he had to go one extra.

The 44th president of the United States has now written an essay on feminism, published by Glamour – entitled, ‘This Is What a Feminist Looks Like‘. And it’s spot on.

He begins by reflecting on the past eight years in the job, saying that the ‘greatest unexpected gift of this job has been living above the store’ – giving him more time to watch his daughters grow up into ‘smart, funny, kind, wonderful young women’.

If there’s one way to ensure kids do their chores, it’s to threaten them with a WiFi ban.

We all know kids can’t go longer than an hour – or less – without WiFi these days, which means chores are often rushed through in order to get back to Snapchat – or not done at all.

Which leaves you either doing the job yourself, or wishing you had as you wouldn’t have made such a hash of it.

But one mum seems to have come up with a way to make sure both parties win – with a note telling her kids… Read the full story

When you’re on your period, chances are the last thing you want to do is drag your bloated, lethargic body to a yoga class and get bendy whilst holding your period farts in and worrying that you’re blobbing through your yoga pants.

However, if you do somehow made the effort to get there (well done you, eh?), you’ll no doubt leave the studio feeling less crampy, super smug and relieved that you didn’t actually leak through your leggings.

You’ve also probably heard the teacher advising women against doing inversions while on their period. But why is this?

It all stems from Ayurvedic medicine which says that the… Read the full story

Been single in the last few years since the online dating app boom came, saw and conquered? Then you probably now all about the hazards of online dating.

However, so many singletons in 2016 are relying on them to the point they think there is no other way to meet someone.

These days, despite technology advancing at the speed of light, we’re all about keeping it vintage with our grainy photo filters and expensive digital cameras disguised as old 35mm.

But this story might have reached peak hipster.

Russian animator Misha Petrick has gone full retro with her Instagram.exe project, by imaging Instagram on Windows 95 and reminding us of the clunky operating system we knew and, err, loved back then.

‘I made these GIFs because I wanted to make modern kids look at Instagram the way I saw things at that age,’ Petrick told The Creators Project. ‘We are all kids of the 90s and Windows 95 was really cool for us, just like Instagram is cool for children today. The… Read the full story

Science says that it’s officially not OK to double dip anything anymore

It’s long been considered the ultimate faux pas at canapes parties.

Double dipping – plunging your carrot stick or chip back into the salsa for a second dip after taking a bite – is widely regarded as a major social no-no.

But – as the most germ-fearing among us already knew – it turns out that double dipping isn’t just a social faux pas.

Double dipping really does spread germs. And it spreads a lot of them.

giphy

Research conducted by Harvard University’s Healthbeat journal has found that bacterial counts in dips surged after a person took a bite from a crisp and then dipped it back in again.

And the number of bacteria varied with the particular dip – with salsa harbouring way more bacteria after a double-dipping incident than cheese or chocolate sauces.

‘This research does raise the possibility that a person who is sick might spread a… Read the full story

Instagram was made for stalking. Within a minute, you’re so deep into someone else’s feed that you know what know what their mum looks like, where they go skiing every year and what they wore on a date five months ago.

It’s also a very effective, safe way of keeping tabs on your exes – from who they’re dating to what they’re having for dinner.

But that might all be coming to an end.

Today, he’s 14st lighter. And he looks very different.

We all know about the birds and the bees.

Melissophilia is sexual attraction to bees.

Yes, while you’ve been getting red-faced trying to chase those critters away from your picnic, others have been going red-faced in their presence for entirely different reasons.

Here’s everything you ever wanted to know about melissophilia.

What is it?

Melissophilia is a specific kind of zoophilia (sexual attraction to animals).

It is also known as Melissaphilia.

The word comes from the Ancient Greek for ‘honey bee’ and ‘love’.
