It’s a sad truth that not all of us are fond of the people we work for.

Unfortunately, unless you’re someone who doesn’t really need the money anyway or who has a seriously impressive CV that’s destined to never fail you, you just have to stick it out and get on with it.

But that’s not to say you can’t have some fun with it from time to time and secretly let that irritating boss know who’s, well, boss.

One man proving that is Redditor Stewietm, whose boss still insists on talking down to him despite him working there for a long time.

Apparently, this was because he was still the newest addition… Read the full story

A new-mother has admitted that parenthood hasn’t been all it’s cracked up to be in a brilliantly raw post highlighting how women are tricked to believe that motherhood is all about by social media sites like Instagram.

22-year-old Brooke McGlinn, who was inspired to create her blog ‘Me and Tahlz’ by other mummy-bloggers such as Constance Hall, writes mainly about life with her one-year-old daughter, Tahlia.

Wanting to keep it real and let other mums know that feelings of frustration and upset aren’t abnormal, in a Facebook post, Brooke told of how when she first decided to have a baby, she imagined motherhood to be a ‘walk in the… Read the full story

Oi, you. Put down your avocado toast. And your phone (because we know you were Instagramming that snack). Here’s another reason the avocado obsession needs to end.

According to a new report from the Associated Press, all the demand for avocado is destroying the world’s forests.

Yep. Your avocado toast isn’t just pissing off everyone on Instagram. It’s ruining the world. You monster.

The deforestation issue is mostly coming up over in Mexico. America’s passion for avocados as well as avocado price spikes is causing mass deforestation in Mexico, as farmers have to clear trees to expand their avocado orchards.

The woman bottom left is all of us (Picture: Omar Robles)

If we see professional ballet dancers at all, it’s usually in the hushed surrounds of gilded opera houses. You don’t tend to come across them standing en pointe at the bus stop.

Which is why Omar Robles‘ photo series, which captures famous dancers hanging out on the streets of New York, is so striking.

Set in the very real world of downtown New York, the dancers’ feats seem even more supernatural.

The Puerto Rican photographer, who is now based in New York, collaborated with dancers from several companies, including the American Ballet Theatre and The Dance Theatre of Harlem, to capture the images.

Grey hair’s been a thing for a while now. You might remember Lady Gaga going grey some time ago. And then beauty bloggers started going mad for #GrannyHair, dying or getting extensions in various cool shades of silver.

And now there’s an updated version of the trend.

Grey ombré – or GROMBRÉ as we’re calling it – is the latest thing to hit Instagram and it’s beautiful.

Think smokey lilac meets silver, and that’s the grey you’re going for. Subtle, summery in a goth way, fresh.

It’s so much sharper than blonde ombré.

What people look like at 7am vs. 7pm Credit: Barbara Iweins
What do you look like at 7am? (Picture: Barbara Iweins)

The people we see on a daily basis tend to have gently constructed their appearance.

We see them dressed in the outfit they view as acceptable for the outside world. We see their hair smoothed down and their face washed or made up.

Even if you think of yourself as low-maintenance, you’ve probably put in a little bit of work to prepare yourself for leaving the house.

And so we rarely see people in their truly natural state, bleary-eyed, still in their comfiest clothes, and just a bit messier than usual.

That’s what makes Barbara Iweins’… Read the full story

If there’s one exercise I don’t hate doing during my period, it’s swimming.

And, when I decided to visit the Maldives on a ‘well I guess I’m never getting a honeymoon but I’ll be damned if I never go to the Maldives’ trip on my own, I ended up swimming with sharks. On my period.

I should probably explain that, despite being in my 30s, I still have no real idea when my period is going to turn up.

So pretty. (Picture: Instagram/floretflower)

We know that in reality, even the most blissful-sounding job would have some level of monotony, early mornings, and annoying coworkers.

Even if you were an astronaut, a baker, or the owner of a cute little bookshop, there would probably be days you’d wish you could stay in bed.

But on those days, we would just dream of doing a different dream job. Because the grass is always greener in someone else’s career lawn.

Being a florist would be the top of our different dream job list.

Yes, there are early mornings. Yes, it’s a lot of hard work.

But it’s just so. pretty.

Oh, Ollie. You are pure joy. (Picture: Instagram/ollievuesomuch)

Meet Ollie. He’s a little bundle of joy and fur and he may prevent you from being able to formulate coherent thoughts. He’s just that delightful.

Ollie is a little golden retriever from Knoxville in Tennessee. The 12th puppy of a litter that was expected to be just 11, Ollie happened to be born with just three legs.

But that hasn’t stopped him from running around, being the cutest little fluffball ever, working hard, and achieving big things.

Seriously. This pup is a damn inspiration. He deserves all our praise and admiration.

Ollie’s story started getting loads of attention when his owner, Alex Widmer, shared a… Read the full story

Photo perfectly sums up the two types of kids there are on the first day back at school

i don't want to go

Alright, so we all know how parents are feeling about their kids finally going back to school (spoiler: relieved, joyful, ecstatic).

But when you’re the one actually going back to school, your reaction might not be so simple.

Think back. We’re pretty sure you’ll fall neatly into one of two camps.

Type one: the super-prepared child, thrilled to go back to the world of learning. You probably had a brand new pencil case, begged your parents for a rainbow collection of gel pens, and couldn’t sleep the night before the first day back. You were just that excited.

Type two: you dreaded the return to school. Your parents were heartless monsters for sending you back to that place. You desperately tried to change the calendar so you could skip all the action and stay in bed.

If you need a visual representation of these two types, this photo sums it up:
