To be confident in today’s world is a beautiful thing.

Especially when there are so many insecurity-inducing photos on every magazine cover and billboard.

But, let’s face it, sometimes it’s hard to feel confident, no matter how many body-positive posts we read or how many times someone tells us we’re beautiful.

Which might be a problem for this company, who’ve put a label on their tip jar asking for people to add the amount of cash that corresponds with how hot they are.

‘On a scale of $1 – $10, how attractive are you?’, it asks.

Which we can’t help but feel might end up in pretty few $10 tips – after all, not many people want to be seen rating themselves as a 10 in public.

Apparently, the magic number to put in the jar is turning out to be $4.

What we don’t tend to think about when we’re watching porn is that some of these pornstars are mothers and fathers.

With that, you can’t help but wonder whether their children are okay with what their parents do for a living or whether they even know about it.

In a recent Reddit thread, one person set out to find out how children of porn stars felt about their parents’ permission.

And let’s just say, the answers are fairly surprising.

This person found out the hard way…

As summer time is winding down there is still time to enjoy one of my favorite cocktail styles, the slushy.

Make the best of the warm days with this strawberry gin slushy, preferably using fresh British strawberries from a local farm.

Combine these with flavors that compliment – lime and honey that hopefully you’ll already have lying around your kitchen.

When I created this, deciding what spirit I needed was easy.

I wanted something that would be light and refreshing while accentuating the flavors instead of overpowering them.

Gin was the perfect thing to accomplish this.

Here’s how to make a strawberry gin slushy.

If you’re worried that your dog isn’t getting enough attention from the pedigree bitches in your local park when there might be an easy solution.

An artist is hosting a speed dating event for pooches at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology), in Liverpool where ten lucky dogs will have the opportunity of finding the dog of their dreams.

Kuang-Yi Ku is, bizarrely, both a professional dentist and an artist who likes to merge his scientific knowledge with his interest in sexuality, technology, queer culture and society.

And this speed dating event is a chance for him to explore the idea of sexuality in animals.

I love lists. There, I said it.

And it seems I’m not alone. The rise and rise of online listicles shows how many people find information broken down into manageable snippets, much more appealing.

In daily life, to do lists and shopping lists make people more organised and efficient.

And is there anyone alive who doesn’t get a kick out of ticking stuff off a list?

So, if you, like me, can’t get enough of them, here are a few things you might recognise…

1. When starting a list, you use your neatest handwriting.

2. Towards the end of a list your handwriting  becomes a barely legible scribble.

3. Sometimes you will tick stuff off, sometimes you will put a… Read the full story

When we get a job interview, we already have a lot to worry about.

What if the interviewer asks a tough question we’re not prepared for? Is this suit the perfect balance of flattering and professional? What if I suddenly forget basic words like ‘job’ or ‘meeting’?

So we’re not too pleased with anyone who decides to pipe up and give us another interview-based decision to stress out over.

Bruce Hurwitz, an Executive Recruiter, recently wrote an essay on LinkedIn, declaring that when engaged women go for interviews, they should make sure to take off their engagement rings first.

Sleep tight, don’t let the period cramps bite. (Picture: Getty)

Does anyone else find that when you’re on your period, getting to sleep feels ten times harder?

There’s the hassle of either wearing a pad to bed (uncomfortable) or having to work out the exact time you’re going to be asleep to plan your tampon change. The bit where your cramps stop you from peacefully drifting off. The part where your whole body feels stiff and achey, so finding a comfortable position feels impossible.

But it turns out that accepting whatever heaped position your body ends up in might not be the best way to slowly slip… Read the full story

Makeup apps can be really fun. You get to try on lipsticks and test new looks without leaving your bed or spending any money. Which is glorious.

But clearly, their best use is not for discovering your perfect shade of bronzer.

It’s for transforming pets into the super glam beings they were always meant to be.

Twitter Moments recently shared this glorious alternative use for popular makeup apps, describing people using makeup apps on babies and animals as ‘when makeup apps go wrong’.

Which we think is a bit of a misinterpretation. This isn’t makeup apps gone wrong. This is makeup apps finally finding their true purpose.

Noticed a sudden increase in people getting cute little tattoos of crowns recently? You’re not imagining things.

Crown tattoos definitely are a growing trend – and there’s a really lovely reason behind the design.

HelloGiggles reports that blogger Constance Hall has brought loads of attention to the crown tattoo trend, urging her followers to join in and get their own.

She explains that getting a ‘Queen’ (this is a reference to her upcoming book, ‘Like a Queen’) crown tattoo serves as the perfect reminder to yourself that you are a queen and deserve to be treated like one (meaning respect and kindness, not… Read the full story

Two years ago, George the dog lost his best friend, a labrador named Blackie.

They’d been best friends for twelve years. They played together, lived together, and loved each other.

When Blackie died, George’s owner, Jacquie Litton, said that George was overcome with grief. He fell into a serious sad spell, refusing to play or run around the way he used to.

But then a few weeks ago, a duck showed up. And everything changed.

Perfection. (Picture: Twitter/jostrowski12)

A moment of appreciation for this mum, who understands that the most important thing to send your son to school with isn’t textbooks or sage advice about drinking responsibly. It’s the family dog.

But not the actual family dog, to be clear. The dog can’t leave. The family needs the dog around.

So that makes things a bit difficult. But this mum came up with a solution.

When 19-year-old Jake Ostrowski packed up his things for college (university to us, but he’s across the pond in the U.S.), his mum presented him with a life-size cardboard cutout of the family dog, Jesse, so he’d always be able to have him nearby.

Her parents had asked her to quit her education and start working to bring money into the household. And so she did.

‘Her brothers were allowed to continue with their education,’ Clare’s daughter, Deborah, told ABC News. ‘She always bemoaned the fact that she wasn’t able to.

‘But she never lost her love of learning.’

This week, more than 80 years after Clare left school, she was finally given the graduation she deserved.

It’s unpleasant.

The process often leaves you with warring parents who can no longer co-parent effectively.

In the mean time, here are some things you might be able to relate to.

Pregnant woman reading magazine

When I was pregnant for the first time, I read all the books, subscribed to all the parenting websites and studied all the NHS literature.

I thought I knew all there was to know about motherhood.

However, once I had my baby I realised I knew nothing.

The thing is, every baby is different. Every parent is different.

So unless the advice book is based on your child and your family situation – the advice will be pretty useless.

Instead stick with your instincts and common sense and read these books instead!
