Ever since Alicia Keys appeared at the VMAs without a scrap of make-up on just a few days ago, she hasn’t been out of the headlines.

Though I’m not sure why anyone would have anything negative to say about the fact someone dared to step out of their house without plastering themselves in make-up first, sure enough, despite the many positive comments, there were some haters too. So much hate that Alicia’s husband, Swiss Beatz, soon posted this video defending her.

But I believe we should all have the courage to follow in Alicia’s brave footsteps – if… Read the full story

Whether we use fake tan or not, we all need a bit of a sunkissed glow adding to our skin at times and we can’t all be jetting off to tropical climes on a whim.

It is definitely not at all narcissistic to have a ‘bronzer wardrobe’ and should you deem it necessary to create one (it is, it really is), it should include these 10 wonders…

‘My body, my choice’. (Picture: Facebook/Laura De)

Laura De is a Belgian philosophy student who, like the majority of adult women, grows hair in her armpit area.

Sometimes she removes that hair. Sometimes she doesn’t.

Both choices are entirely acceptable and it’s really no one’s concern which option she goes for.

So why did a photo of Laura’s armpit hair receive thousands of comments, criticising her for the entirely natural fact that she has under her arms?

Last month, Laura shared a photo from a shoot she’d done with photographer Florence Lecloux. In that photo, her arms are lifted and her armpit hair is visible.

For some reason, this angered the internet greatly.

Good choice (Picture: SavvySurvival/Instagram)

Brits LOVE a meal deal.

We refer you to the Meal Deal Talk Facebook page, which started in July and now has over 200,000 members, who like nothing better than to debate slate each other’s meal deal choices, in painstaking detail.

And then Sainsbury’s made changes to its much-loved £3 meal deal and people were furious.

Basically, they’ve changed its name to the ‘on the go meal deal’ and removed all the fancy Taste the Difference options from the deal.

Yoga with goats is the future of all yoga
Why not? (Picture: CB2/ZOB/WENN)

Yoga is great once you get into it. It’s calming, you feel all ‘at one’ with your body, and you get to be all smug about being a person who does yoga. It’s all brilliant.

And so the idea of a yoga retreat sounds like a glorious thing. Going away to do nothing but yoga all day? Delightful.

But then you see the prices, and realise that it really doesn’t seem that worth it to drop hundreds of pounds just so you can do something you do for free at home, just in a slightly nicer environment.

Why bother when you can do… Read the full story

Introducing Instagram’s latest makeup obsession – ribbon liner. Also known as twisted liner, or corkscrew liner, or spiral liner.

Yeah, the trend’s so new, no one’s quite decided on a name yet.

And bad luck if you’re still trying to master the cat flick, because these beauty bloggers have taken it to the next level.

First, you have to draw a perfectly straight thick black line which flicks up at the end. And then, using coloured liquid liners, you draw multicoloured ribbons curling around the line.

Get ready to spend a lot of time squinting in front of the mirror.

Alex Bailey and Krõõt Juurak are an artistic duo with a mission: bringing theatre and performance art to pets.

Right then.

Alex and and Krõõt are the artists behind Performances For Pets, a project which allows the artists to provide theatrical entertainment to pets of the world.

Theatrical entertainment for pets essentially involves Alex and Krõõt getting in front of some animals and putting on a show, primarily featuring crawling on the floor, dramatic movement, and occasionally writhing around underneath some blankets.

Moving into a retirement home can be a scary experience.

There are so many changes to take in. It’s tough leaving a place you called home. And it doesn’t help that so many nursing homes feel more like hospitals than living spaces, with plain white walls and empty corridors.

One assisted living facility wants to do things a little differently.

The Lantern is an Ohio-based retirement home with a difference: the interior is designed to look like a street in a friendly neighbourhood from the 1940s.

A single parent has to play both roles – mum and dad.

Which is exactly what Yevette Vasquez, a single mum-of-three from Fort Worth, Texas, had to do for her eldest son Elijah last week, when she dressed up as a dad so he didn’t miss out on his school’s ‘Donuts with Dad’ bonding breakfast.

Yevette shared pictures of her cunning disguise on Facebook, explaining that she was dropping Elijah off at Sue Crouch Intermediate School last week, when she noticed there were a lot more cars than usual.

But, you’ll also only ever get to wear it (publicly at least) once, before packing it up and sticking it in the attic/back of the wardrobe.

It doesn’t seem right. So, one woman has decided she’s just going to put her wedding dress on again every year on her anniversary.

This is my #gifresume, FYI

Using your words is so over. The only way to really dazzle recruiters is the use of a few emoji and memes on your CV. Trust us.

Oh, and you might as well throw in a gif, too.

Because if a picture says a thousand words, a gif says a million.

A gif sums up who you are, what you truly believe in.

So you know what? It makes total sense to just replace the entirety of your resumé with a gif. It’ll say everything you need.

Alice Goldfuss inspired everyone to create their own #gifresume last night, after finding one that worked perfectly for hers.

Men have periods. (Picture: Getty/Twitter/metro.co.uk)

Yesterday on Twitter, the hashtag #IfMenHadPeriods trended.

It was started as a discussion of sexism and inequality, mostly focusing on how if periods were a problem for everyone, perhaps people would be investing more in cures for period cramps, affordable tampons, and general care.

People tweeted that #IfMenHadPeriods, pads would be free, paid time off during that time of the month would be a thing, and tampons would be sold next to beef jerky.

It was all quite funny and started an important discussion on the way periods are neglected because they’re a ‘woman’s problem’.

September is Alopecia Awareness Month.

Every year, during this time, the UK’s largest Alopecia charity, Alopecia UK, hosts an event called the Big Weekend.

It’s two days of fun activities for people with Alopecia and supporters, and a way for people to meet others who have hair loss.

This year’s Big Weekend was held in Glasgow.

Here’s 10 great things that happened during the event.

1. Fun hat Friday

At the start of the event on Friday night, we all gathered together for a meet up and some of us tried on fun and silly hats to get everyone in the party spirit.

Doughnut flavoured condoms, please? (Picture: Getty/metro.co.uk)

This week, Durex completely freaked out everyone on the internet by declaring that they were going to release aubergine flavoured condoms.

It was just a joke. A weird joke, with no apparent reason behind it other than someone saying ‘hey, young people like emoji, right?’

But in the brief moments people thought the aubergine flavoured condom was real, they were outraged and disgusted.

How dare Durex even think of creating aubergine condoms when there are so many other superior flavours that don’t yet exist in the world? How dare they?

Durex, take note. If you ever decide to actually make some new flavoured condoms, these are the flavours you should… Read the full story
