Take us there. (Picture: White Desert Antarctica)

Still dreaming of hitting up white sand beaches and sunning yourself in 30 degree heat?

Get over it. Hot sunny holidays are done. Now our dream holidays require snow, ice, and wrapping ourselves up in thermals and cosy blankets.

Newly at the top of our ‘we need to go there’ list is White Desert, a luxurious resort in Antarctica that’s just a short trek from the South Pole.

It’s very exclusive and expensive (an eight night trip costs around £54,000), so it’s highly unlikely that any of us will actually go. But hey. We can dream.

The resort is made up of a bunch of… Read the full story

Dr Megan Meier is a sports medicine and dance medicine physician based in Oklahoma City. She’s also a mum to a three-year-old girl and is eight months pregnant with her second child.

Like all working parents, she has to balance the demands of motherhood with the pressures of her very busy job, which includes providing volunteer medical support at games for various high school and university football teams in her area.

On the first weekend of September, Megan had arranged to put in a shift as team physician on the… Read the full story

Sure. (Picture: Angela Weiss/AFP/Getty)

We’re always pleased when a fashion label gives up on the whole ‘making wearable clothes’ facade and just shows off a bunch of batsh*t insane stuff at New York Fashion Week.

Think the giant plastic bag trend. That was fun.

But our favourite ridiculous runway show so far has to be Hood By Air’s. They collaborated with PornHub, naturally, to bring New York a gloriously sexed-up catwalk show.

It was splendid, and we can’t wait for some daring fashion blogger… Read the full story

Whoa. (Picture: Instagram/rudeneja_)

It’s a classic rom-com trope. Woman removes glasses. Woman gently removes hair band and lets her long, glorious hair cascade down her shoulders. Man formerly oblivious to woman’s sex appeal swoons.

In reality, however, our attempts at the hair release and swish fail to meet expectations.

Our hair awkwardly gets stuck in the hairband, before flopping down in a tangled mess, complete with a giant ridge from where our ponytail was previously held. *Sigh*.

We all know that America isn’t the best place to fall ill if you haven’t taken out a hefty insurance policy.

One family is now having to crowdfund their daughter’s treatment after she collapsed from anorexia midway through her dream holiday to the States.

Sophie Mould, 21, had always aspired to visit New York, with plans of one day moving there from Australia.

‘Sophie has always dreamt of going to New York and she saved up her money until she could go – and a few weeks ago she followed that dream at a cost,’ says her sister Sarah.

Study stress can make the best of us feel a bit out of sorts.

You live off Monster Munch and Red Bull. Your skin becomes translucent from lack of sunlight. You feel delirious with sleep deprivation.

So it’s not hard to imagine that some freshers mistake being ill for exam fatigue.

Psychology first year student Abi Jones thought that she was just run down during her exams when she was struck down with Meningitis B – a strain of the disease that normally only affects babies and young children.

In the past 20 years, up to 1,700 people a year – mostly babies and young children – have contracted the strain, with 1 in 10… Read the full story

Filled with resentment towards teens and their perfectly filtered photos of acai bowls and avocado roses?

We feel your pain. It’s a little annoying to see teenagers getting excited about healthy food when our childhoods were spent obsessing over Lunchables, and our adulthoods

But it turns out that teenagers don’t have a bizarre enthusiasm for zoats and courgetti without reason.

The Guardian reports that teens may be creating their healthy eating habits in a deliberate attempt to p*ss everyone else off and become cool rebels who don’t give a sh*t about your chocolate covered cookies.

This picture of an elderly man still pushing his paleta cart (an ice lolly cart) at the age of 89 to earn enough money to pay the bills, has led to an outpouring of emotion online.

More than that, it’s led over 11,000 people to donate almost £200,000 to a fundraising campaign in his name in the last three days.

The heartbreaking photo was taken by Joel Cervantes Macias, owner of a Mexican restaurant, who noticed the man was struggling in the heat as he was driving past in the Little Village area of Chicago last week.

Traditionally, the marginalised transgender community of Indonesia, even worse than in other parts of the world, was a target of harassment and intimidation in the worlds most populous Muslim country.

But now Indonesia’s transgender community of three million people has been fighting for better acceptance.

This is helped by trailblazing activists such as Mami Joyce, who have themselves endured decades of hardship.

That being said, most people expect, rightly so, the change of lifestyle to be quite a dramatic one.

Want. (Picture: The Period Game/metro.co.uk)

Loads of people around the world are currently menstruating. So why are so many of us still so uncomfortable talking about periods?

It’s a massive shame. Not just because our discomfort around periods is indicative of a larger discomfort around women’s bodies, but also because it means that when young girls start having their periods, they can end up feeling confused and alone thanks to all the misinformation and silence.

It doesn’t help that most period-related education boils down to one week of sex ed and a leaflet about pads.

Two designers want to change things – and they have a creative solution.

The British answer to Barbie is back (Picture: Hasbro/Rex)

Remember Sindy?

If you’re an 80s kid, you’ll probably remember asking for Peaches & Cream Barbie for Christmas and throwing a strop when, instead of a tanned Californian doll draped in peach taffeta (look, it was the 80s), you got her wholesome British cousin, Sindy, in a scratchy pinafore dress.

What can we say, we were aspirational kids of the 80s. We wanted taffeta and sparkle.

Still, Sindy was the British answer to Barbie and, in her heyday of the mid-1980s, she accounted for 80% of the fashion doll market.
