If you’ve ever accidentally time-travelled back to the 50s and pondered if you are ‘wife material’, Reddit might have the answer.

A bunch of men have now come forward to clear up this age-old dilemma in a recent post which asked: ‘Men, what do you look for in a woman that makes her “wife” material?‘.

The  answers might surprise you. Or not. Here goes:

It could be you who’s pushing ‘Mr Perfect’ away

‘Someone who genuinely likes me instead of some checklist of qualities that I managed to get a pass on.’

Starting big school is the beginning of a child’s independent life.

A lot of what goes on at school is a mystery to parents – the detailed daily updates you used to get from nursery staff are replaced by a child appearing at the classroom door, handing you umpteen strange things to carry, demanding food, and then running off with their friends.

For nearly a year Ollie Wolff Pruitt has been designing sidewalk signs for her friend’s bar, Spirit’s Tavern, in Georgia, US.

It started as a way to help her friend encourage more customers into the bar, but it quickly turned into a fun little project for Ollie – and so she’s been doing it every single week ever since.

Describing the design of the signs as ‘the highlight’ of her week, she documents her work on her Facebook page, where she currently has almost 1,000 fans.

Though lots of her inspiration comes from pictures she’s found online, she often fills the signs with pick-me-up messages and funny puzzles, alongside her own art.

Like any good artist,… Read the full story

This mummy blogger had to cancel her holiday due to ‘unforeseen-fanny-circumstances’

A mum has been forced to cancel her holiday to Bali 10 days before departure after ‘unforeseen-fanny-circumstances’ left her unable to travel.

The Young Mummy blogger Sophia Cachia, from Melbourne, Australia, took to her Instagram to let her followers know that there was a holiday up for grabs after she discovered she had a ‘very low-lying naughty placenta’ (a common pregnancy complication that usually resolves itself).

And while she isn’t giving the holiday away (sorry guys), the honest advertisement has certainly attracted some attention.

But it does mean that there is going to be a very sad and empty villa in Bali in 8 days’ time unless someone snaps it up quick.

According to Sophie, you can look forward to staying in a private villa which comes with a pool, housekeeping and an experienced nanny, who is brilliant with… Read the full story

People have been saying Patrice’s outfits are ‘inappropriate’ for the classroom (Picture: Patrice Brown)

It’s 2016 and women are still being told what they can and cannot wear because of how it makes others feel or behave.

When a woman covers up, she’s ‘oppressed’. When she shows her curves, she’s ‘looking for attention’ or ‘asking for it’.

And now the argument has reached the classroom after teaching assistant (a role known in the US as a paraprofessional) Patrice Brown, from Atlanta, shared some pictures of her at work on her Instagram page.

Patrice helps teach Year Five pupils (9-10-year-olds).

11 things I’ve learned since being diagnosed as autistic

If you’re diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, you’re already well aware that you see the world differently from those not on the spectrum.

And because ASD is a ‘spectrum’ condition, everyone who has it is different. The clichéd (but still very true) saying is that ‘once you’ve met one person with autism…you’ve met ONE person with autism’.

With that in mind, any article about it can never be anything other than a very personal viewpoint, but I’m pretty sure anyone with ASD in any form will recognise a lot of the things I grumble about on this list.

Note – some people prefer ‘person with autism’, but I go with ‘autistic’ most of… Read the full story

We kind of want our own mega-bed. (Picture: Michael’s Custom Interiors)

All dog owners will know that once a pet finds the perfect spot on your bed, they’re not willing to give it up.

Nope, not even if you drop a load of cash on the fanciest dog bed you can find. They’re not budging.

After months of struggle to sleep comfortably with all eight of their dogs in one bed, one couple came up with a creative solution.

Chris and Mariesa Hughes are the couple behind The Mr. Mo Project, a senior dog rescue that places senior and sick dogs in foster homes.

What you’re expecting, what you get (Picture: Joanna Huang)

Welcome to expectation vs. reality – the hairdresser edition.

When you go in to your hairdresser, clutching a picture of the latest must-have celeb ‘do’, you do so knowing you *probably* won’t come out looking like their long-lost twin. But, you hope you’ll get something in the vague ballpark.

Sadly, even that was too much to ask for 30-year-old Joanna Huang from Taiwan.

Her dream pastel ombré hair is still that – a distant dream.

25-year-long study confirms that our sex education is absolutely terrible

Sex ed needs to shape up. (Picture: metro.co.uk/MylesGoode)

The current state of our sex education is seriously lacking.

If you’re an adult, you probably weren’t taught about consent in your school sex ed. Gay and lesbian sex weren’t mentioned (although it’s started to be added to sex education curricula). The idea of pleasure got skipped over in favour of repeatedly telling us all about our massive risk of getting pregnant.

Most of us had really sh*t experiences learning about sex at school, and had to make do on our own.

Now, a newly released study that took place over the last 25 years has confirmed it: sex education isn’t doing what it’s supposed to… Read the full story

A transgender teen who was born a boy has returned from the summer break as a Kim K-lookalike.

Kairah Kelly, 15, who used to be known as Tyler, kicked off the new school year by formally identifying as a trans girl.

The Kardashian super-fan says that she’s struggled with her identity most of her life.

‘I felt really strange and different. I’d look in the mirror and the person I saw was a stranger,’ she says.

‘I’d imagine myself in skirts and dresses when I was as young as eight years old. Now when I look in the mirror, I see myself’.

A pair of childhood friends who were separated during WW2 have been reunited after more than half a century when they found themselves next door to each other at a care home.

Mary Worrall, 85, and Jean Such, 84, grew up together in Kinkdale, Liverpool, before they were both evacuated to Cheshire.

They were both packed off on the same train to Winsford, and started work at the same chemicals factory  – called Imperial Chemicals Industry (ICI) – as teenagers in 1939.

But they then lost touch for the next 50-odd years.

Both great-grandmothers suffered falls around the same time in later life and, and by remarkable coincidence, found themselves in… Read the full story

When one woman queued in line at her local supermarket, she didn’t expect to leave the store with a whole new take on life.

Randi Roper Perkins had been shopping at Walmart, when she spotted an elderly member of staff stood in the back near the electronics section.

As she waited in line, mindlessly on her phone, the man, whose name is Mr Billie, motioned her over to him, before giving her a sticker and singing her a song. Then, he began to speak to her.

Coolest wedding ever. (Picture: zegarciaoficial)

Over the weekend, fashion blogger and YouTuber Aida Domenech – known as Dulceida – tied the knot with her long-term girlfriend, Alba Paul Ferrer.

As you’d probably expect from a style blogger with more than 1.2million followers, the wedding was straight up stunning. And very much on trend.

The couple made things official on a beach in Barcelona, having kept the ceremony secret until it was happning.

Of course, guests were encouraged to share the entire wedding online with a dedicated hashtag, #DulceWedding.

Every detail was delightful, obviously, but as Aida’s a fashion vlogger, we’d like to take a moment to appreciate the outfits.

And a friendship was born. (Picture: Facebook/Red Hill)

Remember, kids, every wrong number is an opportunity to make a friend.

Red Hill, from Chicago, was trying to FaceTime one of his friends and accidentally dialed an incorrect number… and someone answered.

That someone was a 15-year-old boy (we don’t know his name and haven’t showed his face as he’s under 18), who was a little confused as to how Red had ended up calling his number.

Rather than just hanging up in embarrassment, Red decided to have a chat with his new friend.

You might have noticed gold ribbons appearing on your friends’ Facebook profile photos and wondered what they mean.

They are there to mark Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which is held throughout September.

The Go Gold Project has had almost 200,000 people show their support with a gold ribbon – one of whom is Julie Apicella, who lost her daughter Emily to cancer.

8-year-old Emily passed away in December last year after a three-year battle with the disease.

In a truly heartbreaking Facebook post, Julie shared two photos, one of Emily smiling in her uniform on her first day back to school, taken last year, and a recent photo of… Read the full story

Imagine being told by your partner that you needed to slim down. You’d be mortified. You’d probably lock yourself in the bathroom for a good two hours.

But one fitness blogger says that her ex-boyfriend’s comments are responsible for the successful business she has today.

Britney Vest, 29, had struggled with her weight from a young age, having had high cholesterol levels since she was just two years old.

‘Since I was born, I was in the overweight area on all the charts,’ she says. ‘I was the oldest of four kids and my mum would make us pasta with cheese, peas and chicken almost four nights a week. The other nights were filled with… Read the full story

tampons
We can all relate to this desperate hunt (Picture: Belinda Hankins/Facebook)

We all know finding the tampons in Boots is always a mission.

Instead of just having a simple sign reading ‘Tampons and sanitary towels’ with a giant arrow, so you can get in and out fast, companies prefer to allude to them with terms like ‘feminine hygiene products’, which no one’s ever called them, ever.

And invariably you’ll find them at the back of the shop next to the nappies and cotton buds, because, of course that’s where they’d be.

We’ve been hunting the bleeding things down for years and we still struggle.

Which is why we can all relate to this text conversation between… Read the full story
