Waitrose today announced it was scrapping plans to launch new stores and would focus on revamping existing stores instead – by putting in more wine bars, juice bars and bakeries.

Which means you’ll be able to try before you buy.

Waitrose is owned by the John Lewis Partnership which today reported a drop in profits, announcing they were down 14.7% in the last half year to £81.9 million.

As a result, bosses said they would be shifting the focus of investment towards existing branches.

John Lewis says Brexit not to blame for 14.7% drop in profits

‘You know when you’re really tired and have to close one eye to focus? (Picture: Instagram/newmumstheword)

Every new mum will know that – while being a parent is filled with moments of joy, obviously – the experience of parenthood is mostly seen through bleary, exhausted eyes.

But with all the polished mummy bloggers sharing photos of their home-made baby food and yoga classes on Instagram, you can feel like you’re alone in your experience of being tired, fed up, and much too exhausted to run around doing downward dog.

One mum wants to remind all the rundown new mums out there that they’re not alone.

No one knows how Felix and Dora ended up wandering along the side of a road in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia.

But luckily for them, they were found when they were just five weeks old.

A kind-hearted couple took the kittens in and took care of them, making sure they were in good health. As they were giving them their health checks, they realised that there was something strange about the kittens’ eyes.

They went to their local RSPCA centre, where vets confirmed that Felix and Dora had been born without eyelids.

The Victoria’s Secret PINK label has just named its newest ambassador. And her appointment is a sign that the brand is continuing in its journey towards diversity.

Zuri Tibby, who’s just turned 21, is the brand’s first black spokesmodel – and only their sixth model to ever earn the ambassador title.

Even Iman was never appointed spokesmodel when she was an angel.

And in an industry where, according to The Fashion Spot, only 8.3% of the models used in 236 Spring 2016 campaigns were black, this matters.

Going to school in America looks simultaneously amazing and terrifying – judging by teen movies.

Alongside all the cool things like baseball games and no uniform, lots of people seem to get thrown into corridor bins and have to eat their lunches in the toilets (if Mean Girls and Glee are anything to go by).

But one teen is putting a stop to a particularly isolating form of school bullying.

Natalie Hampton, 16, says that she had to sit alone during lunch in the seventh grade (Year 8), as a victim of bullying.

We think she’s joking.

This mum got so fed up of her teenage son’s stroppy behaviour that she decided to advertise him – for free – on Facebook.

Mum-of-two Ella Brookbank, 30, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, initially shared the ad offering 14-year-old son Bradley ‘free to a good loving home’ on the Wilmslow Mums’ group. But, it proved so popular, she later made it public on her own page.

Apparently, a lot of parents could relate to her struggles with a… Read the full story

The advice you need sometimes (Picture: lovelyyy_lina/Twitter)

Life is stressful.

If you’re anything like us, you’ve already slept through your alarm, lost three important things and got drenched on the way to work this morning.

Sometimes, you just want someone who’s been there to put their arm around you and tell you to just breathe for a second.

Well, this list is basically that.

Alina Ramirez, a high school student from California, shared a list of ‘101 ways to cope with stress’ on Twitter that her psychology teacher Brett Phillips gave the whole class.

She has highlighted some of the points that particularly helped her.

Peanut butter is one of life’s precious gifts.

It’s vegan. It’s good for you (in moderation, obviously). It’s delicious.

Everyone loves it. There are over three million posts under the Instagram hashtag #peanutbutter, for god’s sake.

And as such, it deserves to be treated properly.

But, it turns out that we’ve all been wasting the peanut gold, because most of us have been storing incorrectly.

Student stars in impromptu photoshoot after being sent to school office for ripped jeans

Bretman Rock is probably the world’s sassiest student with a huge online following, thanks to his makeup skills and no BS tweets.

But, when he’s not being lauded for his razor-sharp contour or highlight game, he’s attracting the attention of his teachers – with a huge rip in the back of his jeans that had him sent to the headmaster’s office.

Where, of course, Bretman saw it fit to hold a spectacularly minimalist photoshoot. Well, when the opportunity presents itself and all that.

Posting several pictures to Twitter, the student, who’s from Hawaii, showed his 600,000 followers that he wouldn’t take his punishment – which came in the form of a detention slip marked ‘Please look at his pants – sitting down.

While most of Bretman’s followers were busy taking fashion inspiration

Every season, Marc Jacobs has the honour of closing New York Fashion Week.

This season, the designer decided to go out with bang and basically put on an 80s-inspired rave. Models, including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk and Adriana Lima, wore clothes finished in metallics, lamé and holographic sequins.

But, instead of an uplifting ending to an exhausting week of shows, the designer went out in a blaze of controversy.

Because he chose to put fake candy-coloured dreadlocks on all of the models.

You might be down with freeing the nipple, but it takes a whole load of balls to walk topless through New York in support of the movement.

But that’s just what model Emily Bloom has done.

In a video by Norwegian photographer Petter Hegre, she walks around the Big Apple in an above-the-breasts crop top to campaign for gender equality.

And passers-by – including a policeman – are left completely bemused.

When a cat gets hit by a car, you don’t normally expect the poor thing to walk away from the incident.

And that’s what Ellis Hutson thought when his cat Bart was struck down.

Bart was buried by Ellis’ neighbour and that, he must have thought, was that.

A tragic end to a short life.

That was until five days later, when the cat dug himself out of his own roadside grave and turned up at his family’s home in Florida, looking for food.

School food isn’t great. The lumpy custard. The soggy chips (at least in pre-Jamie days). And we’ve always imagined prison food to be much worse than that.

Anyone who’s a fan of Orange Is The New Black will know that the some of the food can be, let’s say, unimaginative at best.

But they’ll also know that not all the food comes from a congealed sack of mush.

Cindy Hayes – the former airport luggage checker with itchy fingers – found out that kosher meals are way nicer and starts to ask for them herself.

Soon, everyone’s at it and Litchfield decides to crack down, saying that only Jews who… Read the full story

You may think that all those vegan, body-beautiful, yoga-posing, wellness-types over in LA might choose a wheatgrass shot over a dose of the hard stuff.

But you’d be wrong.

Apparently, they’ve all decided that our old friend tequila is something of a wellness drink.

It’s vegan. It’s gluten-free.

And crucially, blanco tequila – which is the purest type made from 100% agave – doesn’t give you a hangover.

We’ve all known for ages that stubbly guys are hot – just look at David Gandy’s career.

But it turns out that the extent of men’s facial hair has a direct impact on how suitable women find them to partner with.

A recent study has revealed that they find guys with bushy beards more attractive for long-term relationships.

Researchers asked 8,520 women aged between 18 and 100, to rate photos of men in terms of physical attractiveness, for either short-term or long-term relationships.

They altered the pictures from clean-shaven to light stubble, heavy stubble and finally full beard.
