Fashion Week season is full of fashion-y gimmicks. It’s the easiest way to get your show noticed, you see. The fast way to make your collection stand out in a sea of beautifully designed gowns and lust-worthy coats.

Most of these gimmicks are entirely ridiculous. But that’s kind of why they’re so brilliant.

Are any of us going to wear Snapchat filter makeup to work? Probably not.

Will we dress ourselves in giant plastic bags?… Read the full story

This is big. (Picture: McDonalds via AP)

Very important fast food related news: a McDonald’s breakfast Happy Meal could soon be a thing.

But not just any breakfast Happy Meal. We’re talking an ALL DAY breakfast Happy Meal. Meaning a little carry-able box of McDonald’s breakfast, available at all hours of the day.

This could change our experience of hangovers forevermore.

McDonald’s announced yesterday that from September 26, they will be testing out breakfast Happy Meals in Tulsa, Olkahoma.

If all goes well, it’s they’ll roll out the new menu item across the U.S., and eventually, hopefully, in the UK.

I’ve always dreamed of packing up my things and living in a houseboat.

But there have always been a few things putting me off – lack of space being one of them.

Most people’s vision of a houseboat is small and cosy, with low ceilings, limited storage space, and not much space to move around.

We think of houseboats as dark and dingy, with beds that fold-out from the walls and tiny kitchens with just enough room to boil a kettle.

Turns out the reality is entirely different.

Photographer Katherine Fawssett has hopped aboard houseboats currently residing along the River Thames for a project called Life Afloat – on display at… Read the full story

Dressing up for Halloween is pretty easy this year.

There’s the Suicide Squad characters. Anyone from Stranger Things. Rey from Star Wars. All great options.

But if you want to be a scary as possible, there’s only one option. The most genuinely terrifying thing in the world in 2016: the state of U.S. politics.

Thankfully, Yandy – the same company behind Halloween classics such as the The Dress costume, sexy Cecil the lion, and sexy Minions – knows exactly what the world needs right now, and has helpfully provided… Read the full story

It may be bloody baltic up North but we’re a warm bunch of people with some pretty solid traditions. But some of the stuff that we class as normal and everyday in Scotland would be frowned upon anywhere else.

I’m not talking the big things like daring to want our country to have some kind of say in our futures by discussing independence. Naw, I’m on aboot stuff like shoving entire meals in pies, using an orange beverage as a vodka mixer, hoyin’ vinegary brown sauce on oor chips and calling our mates the c-word in every other sentence.

Here’s just 15 queer – but brilliant – Scottish habits… Read the full story

Yup. It’s time for the London Tattoo Convention – a three-day festival where tattoo enthusiasts can come to show off their skills, display their ink, chat about their passion for body art, and – of course – get tatted by some of the best artists in the industry.

It’s a brilliant place of acceptance and inspiration, where for a few days, people can proudly show off… Read the full story

Tiny shrimp make these Japanese rocks look like they're crying
(Picture: Tdub Photo)

Here’s your daily reminder that nature is weird and wonderful and we should all appreciate it more.

On the shoreline in Okayama, Japan, the sands and shallow sea waters are filled with Vargula Hilgendorfi, a breed of teeny, tiny, shrimp.

Each shrimp measures around 3mm. They’re nocturnal. At night, they move to the shore to feed.

Oh, and they glow.

Vargula Hilgendorfi, also known as sea fireflies, are one of three bioluminescent species found in Japan. They glow bright blue every time they come into contact with water, and are often spotted looking like tiny blue diamonds twinkling in the sand.

I’m inching my way through a dark maze and I know what’s coming. I’m expecting to see Michael Myers with a knife any minute now.

Suddenly, his white face and wild red hair comes out of nowhere but there are strobe lights flashing and I’m faced with three Michaels, all glaring at me, their knives razor sharp.

My heart is racing and I’m hanging onto my friend Kevin for dear life but I’m lost and I have no idea where to go.

Michael is facing me, his knife close to my neck, and I desperately look for a way out. After a few wrong turns I suddenly spot the exit and run… Read the full story

Which is better: human person or doll with blank, staring eyes? (Picture: Sara Novic/Twitter)

In most cases, we’d all delight at finding ourselves sat next to a small, silent passenger who took up limited leg room on a flight. But when it’s a blank-eyed, staring doll in a Victorian dress and knitted headband, well, it’s slightly different.

On Friday, writer Sara Novic from Brooklyn, boarded a midnight flight to Cincinnati. Half awake, she was pleased to find there was no human person seated next to her.

She was slightly unnerved, however, to find she was sat next to a doll that belonged to the man in the window seat. Naturally, she took to Twitter to see… Read the full story

A young mum has managed to lose over nine stone in 18 months, after realising she had to do something to keep up with her little boy.

Natalie Burtina, 23, a dental nurse from Mooroopna, Victoria, says she started piling on weight when she fell pregnant with son Layton at the age of 20.

She said she didn’t care what she ate and drank and, at her heaviest weight of 135kg (21st 2lbs), she couldn’t even look at herself in the mirror.

‘I felt ashamed. I did not like looking in mirrors. It made me feel gross,’ she recalls.

Here’s why clean eating won’t help you if you’re stressed

Everyone knows that there are good and bad fats.

That’s why your Instagram is full of smashed avocado toasts on a Saturday morning, rather than (far more delicious and hangover-friendly) English breakfasts.

However, a new study by Ohio State University has found that these sorts of ‘clean’ options might not be the cure-all solution we’ve sometimes been led to believe.

Researchers fed 58 women different fat-based breakfasts and measured their stress levels before each meal.

Both groups were given ‘biscuits-and-gravy’ (a traditional American breakfast which looks like scones in meaty sauce).

House prices in London are basically a joke (Picture: Liberty Antonia Sadler)

I’m that rare thing: A native Londoner who still manages to live and work here at the age of 31.

My family left London years ago but I’m still here, renting and working in the city, managing to make ends meet and enjoy the various entertainments of the capital.

My family and I have contributed to the London economy for generations. My great-great-grandfather was even a hansom cab driver, which is about as London as you can get.

But despite all that, I’m on the verge of being priced out of… Read the full story

Don’t worry, Gremlin’s doing okay, thanks to his very special high chair.

Chrissy Wilson, 33, from Alberta, Canada, was devastated when her Valley Bulldog Gremlin, now five-years-old, was diagnosed with a condition called canine megaesophagus as a pup.

The condition occurs when the muscles of a dog’s esophagus fail and are unable to propel food or water into the stomach. It means that ingested food sits in the esophagus within the chest cavity and never makes it to the stomach. Symptoms include vomiting, weight loss and refusal/unwillingness to eat.

Before he was diagnosed, Gremlin, who had been the runt of the litter, would often… Read the full story
