Once upon a time, pranking was balancing a bucket of water on a doorframe, or gluing a pound coin to the pavement.

Now a ‘prank’ is grabbing a woman without her consent, putting chilli powder on a woman’s tampon, making sexual innuendos to women in the street, and crawling under an actress’ skirt – with all the evidence captured by photographers or put on YouTube.

Look at that little macaron nose. (Picture: Instagram/nutmegandhoneybee)

Of all the delicious snacks and desserts in the world, macarons are some of the fanciest.

They feel both elegant and adorable. You eat one and you feel like a sophisticated French fashion blogger, rather than a hangry mess aggressively stuffing handfuls of Oreos into your mouth.

All macarons are beautiful.

But none are quite as adorable as the macarons created by Meghan Rosko (known as nutmegandhoneybee on Instagram).

Cosmopolitan reports that Meghan only started making macarons a year ago – which makes her skills even more impressive.

Today, in honour of International Coffee Day, Meghan shared some Starbucks inspired macarons (complete with a tiny iced… Read the full story

What would make you actually make the effort of running for ten minutes?

Being chased by something scary? Feeling lonely? A glass of water? Or the promise of a giant pile of nachos once you’re done?

If you’re only feeling moved by the third option, don’t stress – you’re not alone.

In fact, the majority of us are more motivated by hunger than fear, thirst, or loneliness, according to a new study.

Research conducted by the National Institutes of Health and published in Neuron conducted a series of experiments to find… Read the full story

Oh great, another excuse to see pictures of smug couples rubbing their sickening selfish happiness in our faces on social media (Picture: Getty)

So apparently October 3 is National Boyfriend Day.

Why? Because the internet says so, people are tweeting about it and therefore it must be a thing.

What a load of balls.

Here’s why National Boyfriend Day is the most pointless, meaningless, unnecessary made up national day of all time.

1. Single people don’t need another day for you to rub it in

Many people are happily single and are far too busy having amazing careers and travelling to far off lands to worry about the fact elderly relatives can’t get their heads round the concept they may be… Read the full story

IT IS ON (Picture: YoungAdolf_/ImDaRealMVP, Twitter)

As September ends and the nights start to draw in, women everywhere are searching for that cosy oversized jumper that will get them through the cold winter months.

And for those in relationships, that means pilfering their boyfriends’ wardrobes and making away with his favourite hoodie.

It’s the unspoken girlfriend privilege and often, long after the relationship had ended, the hoodie remains.

We’re pretty brazen about it too.

But, this autumn, men are fighting back.

You can’t see a spider because he’s vacated his web to go and live in your house (Image: Getty)

The other day, I was curled up in bed, all ready to settle down for an early night with my book when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. Something lurking in the corner of my ceiling.

A huge, hairy spider.

He was just sat casually on my ceiling, not looking like he was going anywhere soon but he ruined my night. I couldn’t relax. How could I go to sleep knowing I might wake up with him sat on my face?

And then it dawned on me – it was spider season. That time of year where not… Read the full story

We all like fast food. For whatever reason, fast food burgers are completely delicious – just look at the insane queue outside In-N-Out the other week.

But we’re inviting you to hold your culinary horses for a moment, because this week is Slow Food Week.

No, it’s not a celebration of slowly cooked food.

The ‘slow food’ movement has been steadily growing over the past few years and can be summed up in three words – good, clean and fair.

80s kids rejoice: Teddy Ruxpin, the original talking teddy, is back

teddy

If you grew up in the 80s, there were certain things that always topped your Christmas list every year: A puppy (a perennial, regardless of decade), a Mr Frosty and a Teddy Ruxpin.

Teddy Ruxpin was the original talking teddy bear – a storytelling bear with an entire cassette player in his butt, who moved his lips and blinked his eyes in time to the story.

He might have been pretty basic – and, yes, in hindsight, quite sinister – but Teddy Ruxpin blew our tiny 80s minds.

Look, we didn’t have the Internet back then. We didn’t know.

Anyway, Teddy Ruxpin was first released in September 1985 and was the best selling toy that year and the following year.

He even got a shoutout in the film Ted, when Mark Wahlberg’s character wishes he’d got a Teddy Ruxpin instead of his sweary bear. ‘Sometimes when I think back to that Christmas… Read the full story

France has now introduced its short story machines in 24 stations, following a trial in Grenoble (Photo: JEAN-PIERRE CLATOT/AFP/Getty Images)

There’s nothing worse than having to wait for your train when you’ve forgotten your book, all the free papers have gone, or you just don’t feel like falling down the rabbit hole of the Internet via your smartphone.

Which is why France’s idea to install free short story vending machines is genius.

The idea was trialled a year ago in the country’s Grenoble train station, where it went down so well that they decided to roll it out across more stations.

Pregnant women have been listening to whale music for years to calm them down. And apparently it works for them (even if it drives everyone else mad).

So maybe it’s not that unsurprising then that soothing music might also work for animals.

Relax My Cat and Relax My Dog are apps which try to do just that – relax pets via calming music.

They’re part of roundwaves, a company founded by Manchester-based entrepreneur Amman Ahmed, with the £1,000 he had left over from his student loan.

It’s your party, so you can cry (or get caught in the rain…) if you want to.

The Lush bath bomb factory in Poole (Picture: Yvette Caster for Metro.co.uk)

If you’re the kind of person who refuses to set foot in a Lush shop because of its trademark candy-sweet, flowery, overpowering smell, I am inside your worst nightmare.

Standing in a heating tunnel in the middle of the Lush factory surrounded by towers of bath bombs of every size, shape and colour, my guide, Michelle, passes me one to sniff.

I breathe in. My senses are already so overpowered I can’t smell anything for a good three seconds before realising this Christmas one smells of marzipan.

You can smell the Lush factory, in Poole, before you see it.

Or, rather, factories.
