You want everything to be perfect on your wedding day. From the flowers, to the big dress, to your hair and makeup.

It’s why Ruth Sweet, a 25-year-old health care assistant from Saltby, Leicestershire, refused to marry her boyfriend, Josh Sweet, 26, for so long. She had spent the last decade hiding the huge bald patches on her scalp, caused by a condition that compels sufferers to pull out their own hair.

Ruth was diagnosed with Trichotillomania – an impulse-control disorder where a person is unable to stop themselves pulling out their own hair – when she was a… Read the full story

It’s Christmas prep time, people. (Picture: PA/metro.co.uk)

Yes, we know Halloween hasn’t even happened yet. We know it feels much too early to get out the mince pies or put up the Christmas lights.

But every parent will know that Christmas preparation has to start early. You have to get ahead of the mad rush if you want to be in with a chance of the latest cool toy on the block (which will always sell out, no matter how ridiculous it may be).

So let’s get started. Christmas prep starts now.

According to Hamleys, these are going to be the top ten best-selling toys this Christmas (so we’d recommend getting them now):

As the war over on-campus sexuality rages both sides of the Atlantic, one American university has decided to launch a programme to tackle ‘toxic masculinity’.

Duke University’s ‘Men’s Project’ aims to ‘interrogate male privilege’ in order to help create a healthier form of male identity.

It’s a voluntary programme which will run for nine weeks, and has been developed by students and staff at the university’s Women’s Centre in North Carolina.

Its aim? To help men explore alternative concepts of masculinity and influence.

There are many great things to do at an airport – panic-buying last minute swimwear you don’t actually want, going through the ‘ingest/regret’ cycle of a Wetherspoons breakfast and making small talk with the Jo Malone staff to distract them from the fact you’re literally drowning yourself in their tester sprays.

You know what isn’t great?

Not knowing how to get on the chuffin’ Internet. Each airport has its own (annoying) system – at some it’s a simple ‘quick, log-in, ya got 60 minutes!’ whereas others want you to sign over the soul of your firstborn child before they even give you… Read the full story

When you think of Alexa Chung, UGG boots probably might not be the first clothing item that comes to mind (we’re picturing loafers, a leopard print coat, and stuff from her M&S collection).

But maybe that’s about to change.

UGG has announced its first ever creative brand partnership with Alexa Chung, to celebrate their new Classic 2.0 boot (and celebrate UGG boots in general, which is nice).

Alexa didn’t do any UGG boot designing, to be clear, as the brand has stuck with their classic design but in a new and improved way.

Ever considered getting into tree-hugging?

If not, you might start thinking about it now because apparently, trees have feelings and emotions.

A new documentary into the secret lives of trees has been released, which looks into the ways they communicate with each other – both from observation as well as through a scientific microscope.

Forester Peter Wohllenben and University of British Columbia ecologist Suzanne Simard have been exploring idea of the forest as a social network – both above ground and below.

Trees apparently have families, with ‘Mother Trees’ looking after their saplings, and can send signals to each other if they are under attack from insects.

ufit gym advert slammed for sexist advert

Cardiff-based gym, UFit Fitness, has come under criticism for their latest advert – which features a photo of a woman’s bum (just like so many other gym adverts before it).

The advert shows a woman wearing a thong, with the tagline: ‘There’s better things to be stuck behind than the car in front’.

Get it? Because it would be nice to be staring at a woman’s behind rather than a bunch of cars?

The ads are placed on billboards around Cardiff, and have attracted accusations of sexism and objectification.

Science blogger Alice Gray tweeted out a photo of the billboard,… Read the full story

Two weeks ago, Peter DeMarco lost his wife, Laura Levis, after she suffered a devastating asthma attack, aged just 34.

She spent seven days in Cambridge Hospital, Massachusetts, US, as they tried to save her, but sadly, she passed away on September 22.

Her husband, Peter, wrote an open letter to the hospital staff, thanking them for their efforts in her final days, and it’s truly, truly heartbreaking.

He details the effort they put in throughout the week, as well as the compassion they showed both him and his wife in her final hours.

There’s barely a food group not represented in pop-up or concept store form in London. So it was only a matter of time before crisps got their moment in the spotlight.

HIPCHIPS is launching at 49 Old Compton Street later this month, and will be cooking and serving crisps on a conveyor belt (IDK why).

It’ll aim to ‘treat the humble potato crisp with the same care and attention usually reserved for fine dining’, with the crisps being cut and cooked in front of diners.

And each will be paired with a special dip.

Yum. (Picture: Instagram/tipsyscoop)

Booze is good. Ice cream is good.

But so far, all attempts to combine the two have resulted in vodka-filled sorbets and super-weak rum and raisin. There hasn’t been any ice cream creation that actually tastes delicious and gets you a little tipsy.

Until now.

EliteDaily has brought our attention to the existence of Tipsy Scoop.

Tipsy Scoop is an ice cream brand that makes spiked ice cream that actually contains enough booze to get you pleasantly buzzed.

Each serving contains the same amount of alcohol as a light beer.

Meaning that you can skip the pre-drinks and just eat ice cream. Splendid.

Just look at this beautiful glittering blue path that runs through a park in Poland.

You’d be forgiven for thinking it’s an art installation.

But, it’s actually a cycle path, which glows at night, making the ride home safer – and definitely way prettier – for cyclists.

The glow-in-the-dark cycle lane was created by TPA Instytut Badan Technicznych in Pruszkow and can be found near Lidzbark Warminski in the north of Poland.

It was created using phosphor, a synthetic material that is charged by sunlight and makes the path glow at night.

If you’re sick of going to bars full of ugly normos, then get yourself over to LA where the world’s only (hopefully) bar for good looking people is opening.

The club is being opened by Beautiful People – a dating website designed to help the world’s vainest people find each other.

The exclusive venue will vet every potential guest to ensure that they’re fit enough to enter and whoever doesn’t make the grade will be ejected.

According to managing director of BeautifulPeople.com Greg Hodge, the move follows calls from the site’s users who are fed up with being surrounded by mingers on nights out.

We tried xx natural, aluminium-free deodorants so you don't have to
(Picture: Metro)

More and more people are making the change from using chemical antiperspirants to natural deodorants, and we were really curious as to why.

First off, what’s the difference? Well, antiperspirants reduce sweating by temporarily blocking the sweat glands with aluminium salts, whereas deodorants allow you to sweat, while masking the smell.

It should be noted that sweat itself isn’t actually stinky – the smell comes from our skin’s bacteria breaking down the acid in the sweat. The more you know!

Because Great Western Railway (GWR) has launched an ‘Inspired Lines’ competition to offer 50 people some free train journeys.

One lucky entrant will even win an entire year’s free rail card, on a selected ‘immersive seat’ – which has the best window views.

It’s in partnership with Blur bassist Alex James who is asking prospective passengers to channel their inner creative thoughts by penning a poem for a chance to win.

Just two guys, having a good time (Image: Getty)

Hold onto your hats guys, there’s a groundbreaking new friendship trend that’s taking off, and it could be coming to a life near you, if the New York Times is to be believed.

It’s quite revolutionary, and one you may not have already considered. You ready for this one?

It’s called ‘bromosexuality’.

And apparently, it means that gay men can be friends with…straight men. Like, in a totally non-sexual, ‘I definitely don’t want to bone you’, platonic way.

woah

Yup, the New York Times has published an article on ‘the rise of the bromosexual friendship’ as if acquiring a new gay/straight pal is the new Pokémon Go.

They’ve handily laid out all… Read the full story
