Snail Eating Cucumber Sparks Photoshop Battle, Internet Creates Better Love Story Than Twilight pic: original snail/cucumber image credit: phasechange/Imgur
Strangely adorable. (Picture: phasechange/Imgur)

You’d think capturing a photo of a snail eating a huge chunk of cucumber would be interesting enough.

But for Reddit users, nothing’s ever quite interesting enough. They always have to take things that one step further – which usually ends in an endless – might we add rather entertaining – Photoshop battle.

Which, of course, is exactly what happened with Mr Snail.

Redditors gave Mr Snail a full backstory in the form of Photoshopped pictures.

Here’s how Mr Snail met Mrs Snail.

Fancy going to New Zealand and immersing yourself in the rolling countryside?

Also fancy staying in a cosy bed and having a shower, rather than slumming it in a tent under some trees?

This could be the best of both worlds.

PurePods are tiny bungalows located right in the heart of New Zealand’s countryside.

They’re tucked far away from other people and major towns (so yes, you’ll need to take a hike to reach your room), so serve as the perfect retreat into nature.

Who needs books? (Picture: Getty)

Once upon a time, I harboured a vehement hatred of e-readers.

I thought they were a betrayal of all that was wonderful about books.

Nothing could beat the glorious feeling of turning the pages of a book for the first time.

And then I got a Kindle.

As an e-reader convert and former sceptic, here’s seven reasons why you should come over to the dark side…

1. You can read terrible books without judgement

There’s a reason the digital edition of Fifty Shades Of Grey was so popular.

With a Kindle, you can read anything from children’s books to erotica in public without fear of judgement from your fellow travellers.

2. You can… Read the full story

Mental health awareness month: Would you ever date someone with a mental illness? Illustration_Liberty-Antonia-Sadler_Metro

Mental illness – a sad thing that happens to other people, but not something to worry your head about, right?

Wrong. According to the World Health Organisation, ‘if we don’t act urgently, by 2030 depression will be the leading illness globally.’

As someone who has bipolar disorder I suppose I have a vested interest in spreading awareness of mental health conditions but, the truth is, statistically speaking, either you, or a great number of your friends or family will be affected by them at some point.

Every October 10 is World Mental Health Day – a time to… Read the full story

Breast cancer often makes women feel as though their bodies are no longer their own. Having to undergo a double mastectomy leaves scars – both physical and mental.

But, one survivor has spent the past six months turning her scars into an incredible artwork.

Sue Cook, 62, was diagnosed with cancer back in 2008 and was told that there was a strong possibility that she wouldn’t survive.

After six months of gruelling chemo, she had to have one breast removed. That was followed by daily radiotherapy and later, a second mastectomy.

Despite the pessimistic prognosis, however, Sue has just celebrated her seventh year in remission. By turning her chest and her scars into the most incredibly… Read the full story

So long, traditional pumpkin carving – we’re all about the pineapples this year.

The guy behind the UK's first crisp sandwich can now be booked for weddings

Why? Because, let’s face it, pineapples are way more interesting and aesthetically pleasing than pumpkins – no matter how old-school they are.

And pineapples (of the pen pineapple apple pen variety) have been making the news recently.

While we’re not sure where the first-ever pineapple-jack-o-lantern came from (because who knows if they were around before social media was a thing?), what we can tell you is that with the jagged edges and… Read the full story

Glamorous? Check. Bloody? Check. A bit grim? Definitely.

Basically, it’s a Halloween-upgrade of your everyday winged liner, except you’re replicating kitchen knives rather than cat eyes, and there’s lots of blood.

All you have to do is line your lower lids with red pencil and fill in your top flick with silver liner. Then just dot some well-placed bloody droplets in the outside corner of your… Read the full story

Fashion houses are known for releasing ridiculously named fragrances. Often, they sound like team names from The Apprentice. Others are just plain awkward (‘Intimately Beckham’ anyone?).

People are taking fashion inspiration from the Ikea Big Blue Bag

So it’s hardly surprising that shoppers at the Westfield Shopping Centre in White City have mistaken a sign instructing customers to use an escalator for a perfume ad.

The unfortunate placement of ‘by Prada’ underneath the centre’s advice is reminiscent of other adverts which place the label name underneath the perfumes.
