In case you missed it, succulents and cacti are having a major ~moment~ right now.

Suddenly it’s deeply cool to be into gardening. It’s entirely acceptable to squeal over plant pots and discuss terrariums in great detail.

We’re putting cactus prints on our pyjamas, our bedding, our birthday cards.

So why not stick succulents on our nails?

halloween-nail-artDeeply horrifying Halloween nail art tutorial will make your skin crawl

Stunning, not sleazy (Picture: Getty)

Let’s be honest, when you think of Magaluf you think of rowdy British youngsters doing shots until 3am and performing sex acts for free alcohol.

But it turns out that if you take a right turn away from the strip and towards the beach you will discover a whole other Magaluf – one that will give you a holiday experience that can include a morning in the spa followed by sunbathing and a cocktail around the pool, good music, good food, and some of the best sunsets Spain has to offer.

Really?

Yes.

We’re all for clothing brands using mannequins that are a little more representative of real, everyday women.

Bring on the diversity. Bring on necks of a normal length, and non-Barbie proportions.

But River Island has taken relatability to a new level. And we’re not quite sure we’re ready for it.

One mother has spoken proudly of the moment her 2-year-old daughter handled whispers from her peers about the birthmark on her face.

Kelly Wilson Bossley shared a photo of Lydia to Love What Matters, where she told how Lydia had been having treatment to keep the port wine stain birthmark on her face healthy, and it had caused bruising.

One morning at a preschool drop off, Lydia’s classmates spotted the fresh bruising and they began staring and whispering about her face.

However, instead of shying away, Lydia decided to educate her classmates, by handing a copy of Sam’s Birthmark – a children’s book about a boy who also has a port-wine stain birthmark that teaches children to embrace difference – to her teacher, for her to read aloud to the class.

‘She isn’t even 3 yet but her resilience and ability to self-care blows me away,’ Kelly wrote alongside the photo of a smiling Lydia.

‘I cried nearly the entire way… Read the full story

So we can totally understand her frustration when she was called away from her lovely, sunny holiday just to have to trade a little girl £2 for one measly tooth.

It’s always terrifying to find we relate to our parents in more ways than one.

While we thought inheriting their bad jokes was bad enough, it’s made ten times worse to find we’re actually acting like them in our everyday lives too.

But, don’t worry – you’re not alone. Most of us go through a ‘I’m totally turning into my parents’ moment – it’s just some are more unfortunate than others.

We all love jetting off to sunnier climes for some r ‘n’ r but there are some beautiful places right on our doorstep.

Just an hour from London by train, Oxford is the perfect, affordable place to visit the next time you have a weekend off.

The city is steeped in history and has great shopping, bars and pubs, plus the feeling that you’ve escaped the press of London is palpable. Everything feels opened out and spacious.

It’s most famous for its grand old university and being the setting for a famous telly sleuth, but there is so much more to see and do here. You don’t have to be a brainiac to appreciate it.

Sploshing. Sounds like the simple joy of stomping in puddles with wellington boots on. Isn’t.

Sploshing, in case you haven’t heard of it, is in fact a type of ‘wet and messy fetishism’. It revolves around the act of smushing, smearing, and rubbing food onto the naked body, either during sex or while being photographed or filmed for splosh porn.

Sometimes the food is then eaten off the naked body. Sometimes it’s just rubbed around by writhing, naked bodies.

It’s all dirty, sticky fun, and it’s more popular than… Read the full story

World Polio Day passed fairly quietly yesterday with few realising its significance.

But this year the date marked a huge drop in the number of people contracting the virus, with only 27 cases left in the world. Yes – 27.

Four of those cases are in Nigeria, 15 are in Pakistan and eight are in Afghanistan, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), with countries where polio was previously endemic – such as India – reporting no cases at all.

That’s an impressive 42% drop from last year’s 51 cases, leading to campaigners declaring the world 99% polio free with hopes to declare the world… Read the full story

Flavoured salts have been in vogue on a culinary level for a few years now and I’m a great believer in using good quality sea salt which adds minerals to your food.

Pepper is now in the spotlight.

A few weeks ago I gave a simple recipe for the Roman dish, pepe e cacio spaghetti, or pepper and cheese on pasta, inspired by the award winning Padella restaurant.

Here is another type of pepper to try for World Pasta Day, the orange-hued citrussy espelette pepper originally from the Basque area of France.
