It’s International Men’s Day (IMD) on November 19 – bang in the middle of Movember.

Its theme this year is ‘Stop Male Suicide’, and it focuses on men’s health and positive male role models.

The IMD’s global site says that it’s an ‘occasion for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions’ and to highlight the ‘discrimination’ they face.

But is it really necessary to have an entire day dedicated to men’s achievements? Isn’t the whole of November already reserved for talking about men’s health?

Time to get your Christmas pud on the go! (Picture: Getty)

This Sunday, 20 November 2016, is Stir Up Sunday, when British families would traditionally get together after church to make their Christmas pudding to give it plenty of time to mature for Christmas Day.

Nowadays many people buy their Christmas puddings ready made but if you do fancy making your own you’ll find it’s a lot easier than you think.

There are some lovely traditions involved too – so it’s well worth making the effort, especially if you have children around to rope in.

And the fact that your house will be filled with… Read the full story

If, like us, you’ve been watching every mannequin challenge that pops up on your timeline (and marvelling at the skills of each one), you’ve probably noticed the song in the background.

Could you eat this 8,000 calorie sandwich stuffed with kebab meat?

Yup, in pretty much all mannequin challenge videos, one song is playing.

We’ve found ourselves singing the hook on repeat in our heads. We’ve played the same mannequin challenge on a loop. And every now and then we’ve thought: ‘wait, this is a good song. What is that?’

So, people. Here are the answers you’ve been looking for.

McDonald's has killed off its classic festive pie and Christmas is ruined

If you haven’t noticed, Black Friday has made its way over to the UK (we don’t get it either), bringing intense deals and sales to major brands online and instore.

Black Friday itself actually happens on Friday November 25.

But because retailers don’t appear to understand the concept of having a one day frenzy of cheap stuff, many brands are starting their deals early.

Boots is one of those brands, offering around 60% off on loads of… Read the full story

But in all the excitement surrounding Christmas burgers and the announcement of a snazzy new Terry’s Chocolate Orange McFlurry, McDonald’s managed to sneak past a truly devastating menu update.

This year, you will not see the Festive Pie you know and love.

Dubbed Britain’s most fattening sandwich, this whopping 8,000 calorie sarnie isn’t for the faint hearted.

The huge meal has four times the recommended number of calories for women, and over three times the amount of calories recommended for a man.

Based on Middlesbrough’s local cuisine – parmo – the £13.95 parmo kebab is made up of two huge parmos (breaded chicken covered in melted cheese, for the uninitiated) and is filled with kebab meat.

When 19-year-old Parker Ray learned he would need to have his dog, Jett, put down, he knew he had to give him the perfect final day.

Jett had been a huge part of Parker’s childhood. They were best friends.

‘Jett was such an amazing dog,’ Parker told metro.co.uk. ‘His favourite thing to do was to sleep, and what got him most excited was food, exploring, and meeting new people.’

Two months ago, Jett was diagnosed with heart disease.

BenBen the cat has had a tough life.

When he was brought into a shelter, BenBen had a crushed spine, a crumpled ear, and cuts and bruises all over the body. It’s believed he may have been attacked by a larger animal.

His excess skin made him look as gloomy as he likely felt. He wasn’t eating, drinking, or playing, and staff believed he might never walk again.

In pain and thought to be likely to die, BenBen was scheduled to be put down.

Break ups are never pleasant.

No matter if you were broken up with, or you broke up with someone, the feeling of letting go of someone you liked is always hard.

However as always there are things to help you get through this difficult time, ranging from friends, family, wine and chocolate to, of course, music.

So sit back, pop on the headphones and, depending on your mood, work your way through this round of the best break up songs.
