The festive season is upon us. Every pub and bar in the land is packed with jolly office workers and Christmas revellers getting their drink on. And outside every establishment, sequined smokers blow ash into each others’ mulled wines.

December is when all the social smokers reemerge, high on Christmas spirit(s), ready to steal other people’s cigs.

Would you nibble on these nails? (Picture: YouTube/ NailedItNZ)

Nail trends are getting more and more out there and to be honest, we can’t keep up.

This woman painted her nails with chocolate and the internet was not impressed

We’ve had swiss cheese nails (very gouda), Oyster card nails (pretty practical) and succulents that actually live on your nails (sorry, what?).

But here’s one we thought we’d never hear – chocolate nails.

Yup, a nail technician from New Zealand has done the unthinkable and created nail art using only edible materials.

Ten years ago we were holding our noses to knocking back cheap tequila in bars, licking up salt and sucking on limes to get it down.

Then we discovered sipping tequilas. Gold, aged tequilas that had been crafted with as much care as fine whisky.

To sip gin, though, is a different story, isn’t it? A spirit conceived for medicinal use, later becoming a drink favoured by the poor, its recipe has historically been shaped partly by the need to mask its potency and the caustic flavour of the alcohol.

If you bought your iPhone charger for 1p on eBay or nabbed one for a fiver in unofficial packaging, there’s a 99 per cent chance it’s unsafe.

Tests on 400 fake chargers, commissioned by Trading Standards, showed that only three were properly insulated to protect against electric shocks – which is a pass rate below one per cent.

A woman who underwent a double mastectomy after being told that she had a high risk of developing breast cancer is now helping others cope with the same procedure by training as a nipple tattooist.

Gemma Laurence was just 25 when doctors told her that she’d inherited the BRCA2 gene, which carries a high risk of breast cancer.

This woman painted her nails with chocolate and the internet was not impressed

Both of her grandmothers died early from the disease and her mum and aunt, who also carry the gene, are battling against the disease.

Yep, it’s official. The choker trend has gone too far.

The final straw was not the Nike shoelace choker trick, or even Kim Kardashian’s insistence on wearing frayed bits of denim around her neck.

Christmas is a time for being with your loved ones, supping mulled wine and sharing sickeningly thoughtful gifts with your S.O.

If you’re in a smug (married or not) couple, Christmas is your jam. You can wear matching jumpers, kiss under mistletoe, do adult stockings for each other. All you really want for Christmas is them! God, Mariah practically wrote that for YOU GUYS.

(Picture: Metro.co.uk)

Words are some of the most powerful things in the world with the mere sound of them able to conjure up intense emotions from love right through to hate as well as fear, horror, joy and disgust.

But there are some words that aren’t always what they seem. When we utter the words moist, flange, slag, fanny blower and cleat out loud, chances are we will attract filthy looks or cause a snigger or two.

There are plenty of words that sound like they should mean something utterly foul and disgusting but which actually have completely innocent meanings.

These days, your hands and nose almost freeze the second you step out of your house. On the way to the station, you rub your poor little fingers together in order to get some feeling back.

Forget having the dexterity to open a newspaper or to play solitaire on your phone. You’ve gone about four stops before your hands still haven’t defrosted sufficiently to do anything.

People are making up questionable Cosmo sex tips for men (Reddit/johnkappa)People are suggesting questionable Cosmo sex tips for men

It was the biggest night in fashion, attended by everyone who’s anyone in the fashion world.

So it’s no surprise, then, that plenty of attendees took inspiration from total fashion icons Edina and Patsy for their red carpet outfits.

The biggest fashion night of the year calls for the best fashion choices of the year. And for that, you always look to Ab Fab.

While some on the guest list clearly missed the memo, others managed to look suitably fabulous.

Behold.

The story of anorexia doesn’t end when weight has been restored and hospital stays and therapy are a thing of the past.

I consider myself recovered but struggles come up every day – things are a lot easier but I still get confused and frustrated at times. I’m still learning what “normal” is – for example women put themselves down and worry about their weight a lot – I don’t want this to be my normal!
