Regular PMS can make you feel like curling up in a ball and dying, but it’s nothing in comparison to premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

While regular PMS is 56% heritable, PMDD affects up to 5% of all reproductive-age women and its symptoms are so severe that it can stop you from living your regular life.

Here's a cheeky list of luxe PJs you can wear to the shops

Sounds dramatic, but as well as the usual bloating, stomach cramps and mood swings, this form of extreme PMS can leave sufferers feeling depressed to the point of suicide, as well as giving them extreme anger and anxiety.

But why?

Well researchers at the National Institutes of Health decided to study exactly what the difference between women with regular PMS and PMDD sufferers was on a cellular level. After… Read the full story

So says a new study from Oxford University, anyway.

Potterheads, rejoice because you can now spend a night in a Hogwarts-themed Airbnb

Researchers have found that drinking in moderation – and yes, that bit is important, you can’t be doing rounds of jagerbombs – with friends will improve your overall health.

Why? Because of the social aspect, obvs. So drinking your sorrows away alone won’t do the trick.

Using data from three separate studies, which used questionnaires of people at pubs,… Read the full story

Feeling like death once a month is a regular thing for some women, as they battle through Mother Nature’s monthly ‘gift’ of menstruation.

These are the best burgers in Britain, according to experts

Abdominal pain, lethargy and mood swings are just some of the joys women can expect to experience at the end of their cycle.

If you felt like this and it wasn’t connected to your period, you’d probably take the day off work.

But when it’s linked to your womb? You’re expected to plough on.

Not in Zambia.

There, women are allowed one day off a month as menstrual leave.

Now that 2016 is over, we may all acknowledge that it was essentially twelve months of garbage lit on fire and covered in poo.

It was a bit bloody rubbish, basically. In terms of politics (oh hey, Brexit. Oh HEY, Donald Trump), celebrity deaths, and general unending despair.

Employers legally have to allow their female employees one paid day off a month if their period pain is too much.
