Editing on Instagram can get a bit much sometimes.

This is why we instinctively hold babies on our left-hand side

Over-filtered selfies and super-saturated scenic shots can really clog up your feed, giving a twisted (and unrealistic) view of reality.

But when editing is used for art instead of narcissism?

That’s a whole other story.

Take Instagram account Multiplanar, which posts highly-edited artistic shots of cityscapes, making them appear to be from the depths of a surreal, candy-coloured world that only exists in your… Read the full story

Have you ever thought about the way you hold babies?

This is why we instinctively hold babies on our left-hand side

Like, really thought about it?

We all know the basics – support the head, don’t hold them by one finger, avoid hanging them upside down,  etc – but did you know that there’s meaning in which side you normally hold the little angel on?

Apparently, humans favour holding babies on the left-hand side – which is news to me as I’m pretty sure my niece normally gets slung over my right shoulder… Read the full story

Like most women, I sometimes find it a little tricky to get off from penetrative sex.

At some point when it’s just. not. happening, I’ll often get the same reaction from the person I’m having sex with: disappointment, frustration, and the sense that they’ve somehow failed.

Struggling vegan? Why I believe selective veganism is the way forward

Selective veganism is way more sociable if your friend aren’t vegan (Picture: Getty)

Selective veganism is basically the vegan version of flexitarianism.

Metro IllustrationsWe need to stop making sex so goal-oriented

While flexitarians are mostly veggie with the occasional bit of meat or fish, selective vegans are mostly vegan with the occasional bit of eggs and dairy.

Maybe you’re strictly vegan at home but flexible when you go out to eat? Perhaps you’re 100% vegan until you’re offered free food? Or maybe you won’t touch dairy unless you’re hungover as hell.

While staunch vegans will see selective veganism as a cop-out, I… Read the full story

Living in the city is great, it really is.

Struggling vegan? Why I believe selective veganism is the way forward

You’ve got loads of amazing food options, all your favourite bands are guaranteed to tour there and you can get home by public transport any time of day or night.

But it can all get a little bit claustrophobic.

You leave your cramped little flat to get on a cramped little tube, tasting the sweat of loads of people you’ve never met in your life, before slithering off and sitting at a cramped little desk.

We need space godammit!

And these pictures by self-taught photographer Manuel Pita are the antidote to our spatial needs. Mentally at least.

Pita is a scientist by trade who takes photos under the pseudonym Sejkko. And we’re really glad he does.

His series on lonely houses explores ‘the connection between being at home and being alone’.

January is the month of getting extreme wanderlust.

Photos of idyllic isolated houses are making us feel really claustrophobic

Gone are the heady, festive days of December and in their place are long, bleak days of nothingness.

We’re even told that the most depressing day of the year is in January. Urgh.

But it doesn’t have to be – even if you can’t get away from some sun until later in the year, you can still get excited planning your getaway.

Love well and truly seems a thing of the past in the age of 21st century online dating.

Okay, allow me to clarify exactly what I’m talking about.

There is still ‘something’ out there we can identify as a bond between two people – but when I think of the romanticised idea of love at first sight, or the notion of long-term romances, I’m no longer convinced of their existence.

And that’s not to come across as bitter; I’m not a… Read the full story

As a sex worker, I always found it was advantageous to become a Triple Threat – not just offering domination, but also webcamming and phone sex too.

Then you can just watch the magic happen from the comfort of your settee.

The problem with webcams, however, is that it takes a lot more effort.

I mean, there’s no point in telling him you’re going to make him lick your stilettos when you’re… Read the full story
