We need more PE – why are our children being made to sit down all day at school?
A primary school-aged child spends six and a half hours at school each day. Of those hours roughly five are spent sitting down.
They’re sitting still on a chair, being expected not to fidget and getting told off for wriggling their little bodies around.
With one supply teacher in Wales recently being reprimanded for taping a child to a chair by his bare ankles ‘as a joke’ because he was a fidget, we need to take a serious look at why children are sitting down for so long as part of their school day.
