18 British childhood drinks ranked from worst to best
So Tesco is basically spitting on our collective childhood memories by banning Ribena and Capri-Sun.
But this act of desecration has naturally prompted a heated debate over which childhood drinks we’d rather lose anyway (spoiler: really quite a lot).
Let’s take a look back at the days before the Fruit Shoot came to dominate the world of handy childhood beverages in the same way beards have come to dominate the faces of Shoreditch men.
Here’s 18 British childhood drinks ranked from worst to best.

Boy’s peaceful loo break is interrupted by someone watching very loud porn
You’re probably labouring under the belief that the most embarrassing sound to take place in a public toilet is someone raucously dropping the kids off at the pool (if you catch our drift?).
But you’d be wrong.
The most embarrassing sound in a public loo is actually someone watching porn VERY LOUDLY.
And that’s just the ordeal 17-year-old American student Will captured on a recent bathroom break.
Posting the video on Reddit under the title ‘The Phantom Fapper‘ (top marks for the post title, our friend), Will explained: ‘I was sitting there on my phone when this guy comes in and plays porn of full volume.’
‘I kindly tell him to stop and he doesn’t quite hear… Read the full story
This is what women really want from porn
Porn has been a male orientated industry for years, but as more and more women engage with adult sites it’s time someone looked into what the ladies really want.
It looks like women are turned on by… other women.
The most searched for terms, according to Pornhub and RedTube, were all very female-focused with the top three spots going to ‘lesbian’, ‘threesome’ and ‘squirt’.
Interestingly, it appears women just aren’t that happy… Read the full story
Mum finds daughter and dog having the cosiest nap time
Well doesn’t that just look super cosy.
Some children can’t fall asleep without their favourite teddy, whilst others are all about their blanket. But little Raven trumps them all, as her nap time buddy is her rescue dog Addison.
Posting the video on Youtube, mum Kristin Leigh wrote: ‘That moment you can’t find your dog and you even go outside looking for him…only to walk in the house and find him snuggled up in bed next to your toddler.’
That’s some real love right there.
The ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower is being turned into the world’s tallest slide
Best. News. Ever.
Today is a great day, because today it’s been announced that the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower (you know, that big sculpture that looks like a helter skelter) is going to be turned into the world’s tallest slide.
The sculpture – which was designed by Turner-prize winning artist Anish Kapoor – sits in the Olympic park, and at 114m is the UKs tallest sculpture.
The slide will start at the 80m point and spiral around the tower five times before a final 50m route down to the ground.
11 things you should never say to a nurse
Nurses are often commended for having ‘the patience of a saint’, for our bottomless supply of kindness and willingness to work all the hours under the sun… of course, it’s never quite as simple as it seems.
Nurses are human too, and just like everyone else, little things we hear every day can get under our skin. When we hear them a few too many times, it starts to itch…
So, just what should you never say to a nurse?
1. ‘So why didn’t you become a doctor?’
Never say this to us. Never. Whether you’re trying to imply that we’re smart enough to make it through medical school, or the opposite… it doesn’t matter.
Nursing and medicine are two completely different jobs and trust us, we wouldn’t be nurses if we didn’t want to… Read the full story
Bugaboo spark outrage with picture of model mum jogging in a bikini
Now that’s some multi-tasking right there.
A picture of a model mum Ymre Stiekema (please note: she is literally a model) running in a bikini while pushing her daughter in a pram has sparked outrage in the mummy community.
The picture was posted on Instagram and Facebook by yummy mummy buggy company Bugaboo, and was shot by Vogue Netherlands as part of Bugaboo’s campaign for their new £515 Bugaboo Runner.
Posting the picture on Instagram, Bugaboo wrote: ‘Wow doesn’t model and mother of 2-year old Lymée, Ymre Stiekema look amazing in this @nlvogue shoot!’
Unfortunately, not all of their followers agreed.
Fellow mothers and Bugaboo fans immediately started commenting on Ymre’s skimpy running gear and the pressure images such as this put on other mums.
Facebook user Christina Miskis wrote: ‘Totally ridiculous photo. At least have something realistic. Even the fittest mums I knew when my kids were bubs weren’t half as fit, and… Read the full story
18 things you only know if you bake
There are people who bake, and there are people who don’t.
The people who don’t bake are mesmerised by your baking, and the people who do bake are like yeah, but can you even make a Baked Alaska?
Here are 18 things you only know if you bake:
1. You go to parties and everyone’s like ‘didn’t you bring cake?’
2. You could literally spend hundreds on baking tins, piping equipment and edible glitter.
3. You always suggest making someone’s birthday cake instead of buying one.
Embroidery goes grunge and it’s awesome
Meet Alaina Varrone – the artist who’s making embroidery epic.
We might associate embroidery with folk artists and elderly ladies, but self-taught Alaina Varrone turns an old fashioned medium into provocative images that millennials relate to.
More grunge than grandma, Varrone says she was ‘born in 1982 to a family of weirdos and storytellers’ – and this creative upbringing is reflected in her work where she mixes history with obscure, cult and pop culture references.
With a touch of humour she uses thread to weave stories about her own life, exploring themes like sex, death… Read the full story
Richard Herring: Robot sex is not at all sleazy and shouldn’t count as infidelity
I’ve been watching the Channel 4 drama series Humans with my wife.
It’s about a world very similar to our own, except that androids are commercially available to do your housework, or care for you if you’re ill or provide other services for the tense or frustrated or those who really want to have sex with a big lump of human-shaped plastic.
It throws up some interesting questions about how robots might replace humans in many jobs, whether they would legally count as people or machines and whether they might gain consciousness, rise up against us and make us their slaves.
I am not sure the robot reality is as useful, dangerous or sexy as sci-fi would have us believe, but I can’t… Read the full story
Richard Herring: This is a masterclass in how NOT to plan a mini break for your wife
My attempt to treat my wife to a relaxing spa weekend was a disaster.
As I’ve already recounted we were tired, late, I left the baby in the car and then we were falsely accused of flushing nappies down the hotel loo.
Could we rescue things on the Sunday? Of course not.
Our baby didn’t like being in an unfamiliar room and consequently none of us got much sleep. In the morning tempers were so short that you’d have needed an electron microscope to see them.
We were too exhausted to enjoy the hotel and had to deal with a grumpy baby (arguably my wife had to deal with two).
They were getting the afternoon train home while I stayed in town for a gig… Read the full story

21 things you only know if you’ve travelled solo
Big group holidays are all very well, family trips are fun and couples breaks may be romantic.
But there’s really nothing like jetting off on your own to experience true adventure.
You’ll make more friends, learn more about you and throw yourself more thoroughly into different cultures without the safety net of others around you.
Here’s 21 things you only know if you’ve travelled solo.
1. You’ve mastered the art of the 30-second introduction. I’m blah, from blah, I’m travelling to blah, I like abc, I dislike xyz. Beer?
2. Google maps is your new BFF. Not only does it help you find your way, it doesn’t get hangovers, need food, and it knows more bars and restaurants than any travel buddie.

The Rich Kids of Snapchat will make you feel insanely jealous
Being a teenager is tricky what with hormones, school and parents to deal with – and serious dilemmas, like which Rolex to wear today?
These are the kinds of problems that are plaguing the Rich Kids of Snapchat.
Their lives revolve around fast cars, champagne, crisp notes and watches that cost more than most people earn in a year.
In order to show us less wealthy folk what we’re missing out on, they’re documenting their extravagant lifestyle on Snapchat.
Which induces a mixture of insane jealousy and slight disgust at the senseless spending of money (though it’s probably just the envy talking).
When thousands of dollars in crumpled notes just won’t cut it
18 ways living in London changes you

Normally it’s the people who shape a city. In London though, it might be the other way round.
For everyone who’s ever had the pleasure of living and working in the UK capital, here are 18 ways this city changes you.
1. You no longer notice the famous landmarks you pass on your daily commute
Tower Bridge is meh.
2. Any flat larger than 70 square metres now seems like a mansion to you

21 things you only know if you’ve been a Girl Guide
Whether you went because your mum made you, your best mate did, or you just got too old for Brownies, you probably know the heartache that is needing a wee in the middle of a rainy night on Guide Camp.
Still, if all the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides in the country held hands, the line would reach from Bristol to Inverness.
That’s a lot of campfire songs, soggy socks and s’mores.
If you remember sewing your first badge on to your sash, you probably also reminisce about the following.
Here’s 21 things you only know if you’ve been a Girl Guide.

10 struggles that only hijabis will relate to
There’s a popular misconception floating around out there that hijabis are oppressed. That couldn’t be further from the truth!
While many of us love our hijab and everything it means to us, we can’t deny that sometimes there are struggles…
1. Is my scarf actually a bib or is it just me?
No matter how carefully and gracefully you think you eat, there is a high likelihood that you got food somewhere in or on your scarf. It’s like hijabi law.
There’s little fun in discovering a grease stain on your beautiful chiffon scarf or, even better, finding leftover lunch from within the numerous folds of your hijab around dinner time.
It’s like a treasure hunt, but not one that makes you… Read the full story
Women share their scars, stretch marks and stories with #ThighReading pics
Have you heard of thigh reading?
No, it’s nothing to do with predicting the future, but is the latest body positive hashtag to hit social media.
Like many trends, it all started with one tweet.
Twitter user @princess_labia (top marks for the name, lady), who kicked the whole thing off, told MTV: ‘I wasn’t thinking I was creating a hashtag’
‘I was just sitting on the couch with my legs crisscrossed and I was just looking at my stretch marks and feeling them, because they’re kind of deep some places and yeah, I was just looking at it and I was like, “oh, it’s like a palm reading.”‘
